Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Best Budget Smartphone – iPhone SE vs Samsung Galaxy A51”.
This video is brought to you by dr phone. The number one service that allows you to bypass any icloud or passcode on your ipad or iphone in just a few clicks check out the description for more details. What’S up folks how’s it going! This watch hope you guys are all doing well and today we’re going to be taking a look at budget-oriented smartphones for 2020.. Now recently apple released the 2020 version of the iphone se. Externally, it’s pretty much identical to the old iphone.

8, that got launched several years back, but internally it has the same a13 bionic processor, that’s found on the premium grade, iphone 11 pro and pro max now, even though, historically se models were always the budget oriented iphones really from a processing standpoint, it’s no slouch. It’S just as capable as the premium grade iphones you’re, just dealing with a smaller display overall and around 350 dollars. It is still the cheapest new iphone that you can get from apple. Now, specifically, we’re going to be taking a look at the new sc and compare it directly against its main competitor, which i think is going to be the samsung galaxy a51, which samsung also recently released we’re going to be taking a look at uh. Pretty much. All of the major differences between the two we’re going to start with the design.

Best Budget Smartphone - iPhone SE vs Samsung Galaxy A51

First of all, you can see that the iphone sc is slightly more compact. It has a smaller footprint that could be a pro that could be a con depending upon what your specific preference is. If you want the more compact smartphone, the lighter smartphone, the sc is definitely the right phone for you. It only weighs about 148 grams about 7.3 millimeters in terms of thickness. The a51 samsung phone is about 172 grams and slightly thicker as well at 7.9 millimeters in terms of durability sake. The se also has an edge up with the official ip67 certification for both dust and water. Resistance versus the samsung does not have official certification, but does have gorilla glass 3 on it. So it is scratch and shatter resistant to some extent, and we have basically the standard ion strengthened glass that you find on both eye phones at these days, as well as the oleophobic coating found on iphones as well. Now, in terms of the general look of both smartphones, certainly the samsung looks more modern, with the thinner overall bezels doesn’t have a physical home button like we have on the sc, which also doubles as the touch id security interface. Now we do have a fingerprint scanner embedded underneath the display on the samsung.

So that’s a modern touch that you find on premium great smartphones these days and we have the floating front-facing camera, which is also a popular design that we find on modern smartphones as well and speaking of the displays themselves and pretty much every parameter. The samsung is the winner: it has the larger display six and a half inches versus 4.7 on the iphone has a much higher screen to body ratio, as you would imagine, with the thinner, bezels and a greater resolution, as well as a ppi count about 405 versus The iphone you’re looking at about 1334 by 750 in terms of native resolution and a ppi count about 326.. Additionally, in terms of screen technology, we’re looking at ammo led technology on uh. The samsung like pretty much all of their devices, so great color and dynamic range great black levels and on the iphone, we’re using an ips lcd display, which is great for overall color rendition and accuracy great for brightness as well, but doesn’t really have the same black Levels and the overall dynamics that we find on oled displays like on the samsung now, certainly from an external perspective, the samsung is definitely the superior device in my opinion, but when it comes to the actual hardware capabilities internally, i think uh, the apple product definitely has A huge edge up thanks to the a13 bionic processor you’re, pretty much looking at a premium smartphone from an internal uh perspective.

We have the exynos 9611 processor, which is a octa-core processor, but it’s been around for quite a while in terms of its pure architecture and will definitely lag behind of what the a13 bionic processor can do on the iphone just to illustrate uh. Some of those examples. In terms of hardware capabilities on the antutu benchmark, we’re looking at over 460 000 points on the iphone sc versus about 190 000 points on the samsung a51 and on geekbench. It’S pretty much a nine-day difference both in terms of multi-core and single core performance.

On both platforms on the iphone we’re getting around 1300 points on the single core side versus about 347 points on the samsung and on the uh multi-core performance, we’re getting over 3 300 points on the iphone versus about 1 300 points on the exynos processor found on The samsung now in terms of storage and ram configuration both are going to be a little bit different in terms of long-term storage, you’re, looking at 64 gigs up to 128 gigabyte versions on the samsung side and on the iphone you can get up to 256 gigabytes With three gigabytes of ram on all versions of the iphone ses versus the ram is going to fluctuate on the samsung. If you get the uh base model, 64 gigabyte version you’re, looking at four gigabytes and if you upgrade to the 128 gigabyte version, you have the option of either getting six gigabytes of ram or eight gigabytes of ram. In addition to the fact that you also have a micro, sd expansion slot on pretty much all samsung’s, and that is really not any different on the a51, so you can get the lower capacity and expand the memory yourself, which is always a handy feature. Now, before we go on any further, i just want to talk about our sponsor for the day that made this video possible. Now, recently, i’ve been having some issues getting into my iphone. I set a new six digit passcode and completely forgot it now, if you find yourself in this similar situation with your ipad or iphone, there’s actually a great software suite by wondershare called dr phone that allows you to unlock and bypass your four or six digit passcode. As well as bypass touch id and face id interfaces on your lock screen, this is obviously a handy feature if you want to get access to your device, whether you forgot, your passcode or you’re, dealing with a second hand, device that you’re locked out of now the Process of gaining access to your lock device is pretty simple and straightforward. Dr phone is available for both mac and pc.

You simply download the application, connect your device to your computer and follow the instructions whereby you will be downloading a new software version for your iphone, which will delete all your personal content or, whatever content. That’S on your device. This process will also remove any apple id slash, icloud accounts that are tied to the device.

So when you’re done with the process, you’re going to basically have a brand new phone ready for you to use now for detailed, step-by-step instructions check out the description down below. Where you’ll find links uh towards that, as well as pricing information for the doctor phone service, we want to thank wondershare for making this video possible and thank you for your continuing support now getting back to the comparison at hand. Let’S talk about the camera configuration on both platforms, one of the most impressive things about the a51 is the fact that we have a quad array of cameras at the back, essentially giving you the premium multi-camera configuration that you found on most modern day, smartphones in a Device that essentially costs a quarter of the price. Now, conversely, the iphone se has a single 12 megapixel camera, which is very familiar to uh, most generation smartphones dating all the way back to even the iphone 8.. Now, inherently there’s nothing wrong with this 12 megapixel camera. In fact, we’re going to take a look at uh, the actual side-by-side comparison between the samsung and the iphone in a little bit, but in terms of the actual specifics on the samsung itself, you’re looking at a 48 megapixel standard, uh wide angle lens, as well as A 12 megapixel ultra wide camera and a 5 megapixel macro lens for ultra close-up photography for smaller objects, as well as a 5 megapixel, uh depth or live focus camera and in terms of the video capabilities.

The iphone does have the slight advantage of doing 4k. Video at 60 frames per second versus 30 frames per second on the samsung, as well as higher frame rates at 1080p, up to 240 frames per second on the iphone versus 120 frames per second on the a51 on the front-facing side, uh, the samsung impressively has a 32-Megapixel front-facing camera that can also record 4k at 30 frames per second versus you’re, looking at 7 megapixels on the iphone at 1080p at 30fps video. Now, based on my experience thus far, i would definitely have to say that, in terms of the camera configuration certainly, the samsung is the clear winner over here.

Not only do we have a great variety of flexibility of camera options available on a budget oriented smartphone uh. That gives you the same essential capabilities of the premium grade stuff with the multi-camera array, but the quality of the photos and video is superb and up there with the premium grade smartphones and even though the 12 megapixel 4k video is nice on uh the iphone. It’S just not up to the same level of quality and sharpness and overall capabilities that we find on the samsung, with the exception that you do have the 60 frames per second and the higher frame rates in a video options available on the samsung. But besides that uh, the samsung a51 is the clear winner over here.

Lastly, let’s talk about the battery performance and uh, we have a very small battery capacity on the iphone se. One of the reasons why it’s so compact and lightweight to begin with is that the battery capacity is only about 18 21 milliamp hours and we have a 4 000 milliamp hour battery on the a51 uh, with the uh advantage on the iphone being wireless g charging. We don’t have wireless charging built into the samsung, unfortunately uh, but in terms of our battery life uh test, specifically uh.

We always like to do a video playback test where we play the same video on the vlc app in airplane mode, and we simply measure the time it takes to get to 100 to zero percent discharge and the total run time on the samsung. As you would expect is slightly higher 11 hours and eight minutes based on our tests and on the iphone se, we got a runtime about nine hours and 15 minutes was actually pretty impressive due to the fact that it has less than half the capacity at the Samsung, so that tells you that it’s a very efficient system and based on my general day-to-day use over the last couple of weeks, i would say the difference between the two is definitely pretty subtle. Both are gon na have no problem getting most people throughout the day. Uh within an eight to twelve hour window, but if you’re a power user, you might struggle uh with the iphone and that’s why the samsung in general definitely has the better battery life and certainly with the larger capacity. It’S gon na be better uh from a long term perspective as well and lastly, i just wan na sum up all the specific advantages that each smartphone presents to kind of give.

You guys a better idea in terms of how these two really compare against each other. If you’re in the market for a budget oriented smaller smartphone uh, firstly, the iphone sc is a cool idea, in the sake that it’s a smaller device, has the power of the larger smartphone. So, firstly, if you’re looking for a more compact, modern, iphone solution, it’s definitely an interesting proposition. It’S more durable than the samsung in the fact that does have ip67 official certification.

Uh certainly has a more powerful internal, gpu and cpu performance and from a video recording perspective, you are getting higher frame rates at 60 frames per second 4k and you do have wireless charging capabilities as well, which is missing from the samsung. But on the samsung a51 side, definitely the more modern design with the thinner bezels, not to mention a higher resolution. Larger overall displays with the embedded fingerprint sensor. So you still get that security feature found they on the touch id, but just integrated in a more modern way. You have micro, sd, expandability options, uh the better camera array of the four cameras in the back with the better front-facing camera at the front.

Uh, the larger battery capacity, as well as better overall battery performance and last but not least, definitely has to be priced. Essentially, you can get the a51 on amazon and other places, as well as from samsung for well under 300, in most cases around 275 about 280 dollars and perhaps even more less as we uh get into sales and things like that versus the iphone from apple’s retailing. For around 350 dollars, so definitely a decent chunk of change.

Uh difference between the two and in most cases, uh. The iphone, is kind of outdated from the front in terms of its technology. Uh does give you better internal performances, but in pretty much every regard.

This samsung is the superior product. If i had to choose between the two i’d probably go with the samsung due to the fact that i’m getting more bang for the dollar. Definitely love to hear your guys’s thoughts on which smartphone is superior.
