Baby Belt: The $100 tiny DIY belt 3D printer - MRRF Interview

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Baby Belt: The $100 tiny DIY belt 3D printer – MRRF Interview”.
Hey there so tell me: what am i looking at here? Well, who are you and what am i looking at here – i’m rob: mink, um, you’re, looking at a tool, changing belt printer, a polar printer with auto ejection and most of all, the baby belts. So the baby belts are what are really catching my eye. These little yellow ones here tell me about these they’re totally open source um. They uh can be sourced for about a hundred dollars in parts um.

There’S discord channel we’re working on uh they’re still in beta, but we’re working on losing pretty much all standard parts. Um marx, gen 3.. You can use any sensorless, homing board, um standard hot ends.

It’S all fdm printed, except for a sla worm gear and uh extruders. Everything is built in they’re, just fun, little introductory belt, printers very cool, so you said about a hundred dollars in parts, so i see there’s a lot of 3d printed stuff here. What are the parts you have to to get for? One of these, like just in general, don’t worry about being exhaustive, all right, um well, about 20 m3 screws handful zip ties um. It uses uh m3 rods with ptfe tubing as the linear bearings, a bunch of 608 bearings, the cheap 28 byj 48 stepper motors control board and you’re you’re using stepper okay, so those are stepper they’re, not just dc.

Okay, they’re stepper motors they’re gear, reduced stepper motors they’re about a buck. A piece so tell me about your beds. I know with belt printers beds, are kind of a topic. People get you know really in depth in on all the chemicals and stuff and what you’re? Using but yours are just cloth right, tell me about that: it’s cotton with carpet tape and construction paper. That’S all it is, and there is a seam and they are to wear item, but considering the belts cost, maybe a dollar to make it’s not bad, and as long as you don’t bury the nozzle into the bed, they last quite a while very cool.

Where can somebody learn more about this um, our github or our discord channel uh? The github is uh right there. That’S just info on the baby belt where’s. Oh here’s a website. So what kind of stuff is on your youtube channel? Are they builds? Are they directions? What do you got mainly builds um, just showing off concepts and stuff like that. I’Ve been doing tool changing for about three four years now, including a really big tool.

Changer we had at earth in 2019 um, but it’s mainly tool, changers and fun belt, printing ideas and just fun printing concepts. Nice. This is cool man, very cool awesome. I love seeing this stuff.

I love seeing the kind of grassroots diy sort of stuff, and i think these are incredible great job man. The interview you just saw took place at midwest reprap festival in goshen indiana, going on back. There uh be sure to check at our members area at make dot co, there’s actually a full tour of the event uploaded there. If it’s not there, yet it will be there soon until next time. You know you .
