Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “ASUS GTX 1080 TI Founders Edition – Unboxing – Former Member Exclusive”.
Hello and welcome supporters of tech deals. This is a bonus video just for floatplane subs and for YouTube members. I don’t believe this footage has ever seen the light of day. This is an unboxing of a founders edition GT, X, 1080 Ti. This was recorded way way way back March.
25Th. 2017. Yes, this is two and a half years old. A number of my comments that I’m about to make in this article because I did voice it over as I did it are out of date.
So there will be no links in the video description below there’s not gon na. Be any nonsense. Oh oh quick! Yes, this is great for 4k, multiple monitors yeah it’s two-and-a-half years ago, so yeah it’s! This is just fun. This is here for those of you who support, there’s a variety of pieces of footage that I have filmed over the years that either never got used or never got finished or half finished projects, and I’m kind of going back through my raw footage. That’S stored on my drive, a lot of files and a lot of data. That’S just sort of sitting around so slowly over time.
You’Ll get these bonuses and hopefully you guys enjoy them. You can certainly see how I spoke and how I recorded stuff way back when, in fact, this was just a couple weeks after Rison first came out, enjoy hello and welcome to tech deals and videos. Geforce GTX 1080 TI founders, edition unboxing and overview. What is this? Why should you watch it? Why should you care well? In short, if you want to play modern triple-a, gaming titles at 4k resolution or 1440p ultra wide, the 21:9 ultra-wide 1440p resolution then stop. You have come to the right place. This is the graphics card.
You should buy. Is it expensive, yeah a little bit at about $ 700? However, the performance increase over the GTX 1080 is worth it an average of 35 percent, given that the GTX 1080s are now down to about 500. This is about $ 200. More, the 35 % performance increase actually makes the $ 700 price very reasonable. If you want to sustain 60 frames-per-second at 4k or a hundred frames per second at 1440p ultra wide.
This is the card you need, because the GTX 1080 won’t quite do it. Now, in this article, I’m gon na unbox it and show you the card. I’M also gon na give you a little bit of a teaser to some upcoming benchmarks as well towards the end of this video.
I will follow this video up with full benchmarks, where I show you live gameplay, not just slides with some numbers, but I’ll show you. The smoothness and actual performance of a number of games – now I’m gon na install this card in three different computers: the Intel i7 7700 K, KB Lake processor, the older i7 2670 rolled five generations back. I seven handle a GTX 1080 Ti, or do you absolutely have to have the latest and greatest and then finally, I will install this card in AMD’s risin 7 1700 cpu to show you how well AMD’s new processor handles this awesome graphics card. Alright, that’s enough talking! You came to see an unboxing, so we’re going to take our handy knife and let’s open this thing up, shall we and what do we have in the box now? This particular card is from a soos, but all of the founders edition cards are exactly the same.
The only differences are in packaging and this is just very little instructions in a few languages. Now they do include a driver CD in here, but you should go to Nvidia comm to download the latest drivers anyway. This does include a copy of GPU tweak, which is a Seuss’s software to allow you to adjust the settings. I personally use Emma sized afterburner software, sorry SUSE, but I do.
However, you can use that, but you can also download an updated version of GPU tweak from their website, assuming they have one. So you can use this or just download the updated versions yourself. What else is in the box? Ah, this is nice.
They are providing once I can get that out of the box. This is an HDMI to DVI adapter nice, because, unlike the previous cards, there is no DVI port on here. All we have there. We go that’s better. We have three display ports and one HDMI port.
Now, like on the other 10 series cards, this is an HDMI 2.0 port supporting 4k at 60 Hertz on monitors and televisions that support HDMI too, and these are DisplayPort 1.4 supporting either 4k at 120, Hertz or 8k at 60. Hertz talk about future proofing, but they have removed the DVI port. This is to allow additional air cooling to come out the back via the blower style, founder’s Edition cooler. I know I’m holding it upside down, but they provided an adapter that you can simply plug in.
Like that and give you a DVI port nice, I don’t know if all founders editions come with this, but the assist one does, as I said at the beginning of this, video $ 700 is by no means a cheap card, but with a 35 % average performance Increase over gtx 1080, which is probably one of the largest increases we’ve ever seen in a ti card, it’s right up there with the best of them. In any case, it actually gives you value for the money if you play in those high resolutions now to people who just play at a regular standard, 16:9 1440p buy this card. Probably not you can. It will certainly give you spectacular performance.
Maybe if you play at a hundred and forty-four Hertz, maybe but everyone else should really either buy a gtx, 1070 or a 1080, and of course, if you play at 1080p, this is incredible overkill. But if you want the best of the best, if you want to be able to play at those super high resolutions, this is the card for you, one quick additional note. If you want to play on three 1440p monitors, you actually will need this much performance to play. Triple-A titles on that many pixels three 1440p standard 16:9 monitors is over ten million pixels. That is far more demanding than 4k. You will absolutely need one of these cards now: three 1080p monitors is less demanding than 4k, and actually a gtx 1080 will handle that in most cases. But if you want a little bit of future proofing, if you want that extra bit of performance go ahead and step up to the GTX 1080 Ti, it’s worth the money. If you want maximum performance now, you’ll notice, I didn’t even mention specs anywhere in this article.
My channel was not about specs, I don’t like to rattle off production numbers and transistor counts in CUDA cores. What I care about is how well does the graphics card play games? How much does it cost, how many frames per second? Does it give you now? I will tell you this card has 11 gigabytes of gddr5 X Ram. It is three gigabytes more than the 1070 and the 1080, which for high resolutions will help in the coming future, especially if they’re on multiple monitors um. It certainly has the most CUDA cores of any of the cards other than the Titan XP, but because of its higher clock speeds, it’s actually faster than the Titan XP. In certain situations, it trades blows with the Titan XP. This is one of the fastest single graphics cards you can buy in the world and of course, you can always sli them.
If you want to, but boy that’s expensive, now coming up in just a second there’s going to be some gameplay footage with a performance chart at the end, but before I do that. Let me finish this off by saying, like this video, if you liked it share it with your friends, if you loved it, remember to subscribe to my channel with the big huge red button directly below this video questions and comments beneath the video and as always, check Out the video description, links to Amazon and Newegg to buy this GT X, 1080 TI graphics card will be down there as well as the GTX 1080 and the 1070. If you like the look of this – but maybe you don’t want to spend quite that much money – that’s fine. The GTX, 10, 70s and 10 80s are actually very good value for their money.
I will at some point do a cross comparison between those three cards, but the best of the best you’re looking at it. Also, if you like, my channel and you’ve, been following me for a while check out my link to patreon down in the video description below, I am going full-time on YouTube. If you want to support me – and you want to see more videos like that, if you can give a dollar, if you can give five dollars, it would be greatly appreciated. Full disclosure nvidia did not send me this card. I bought this card with my own money.
Ouch pain, ouch, it’s expensive, but I promise you. I will be giving you tons of benchmarks and performance reviews in multiple computers and against other cards in the coming days weeks and months ahead. I will get full value out of this and I hope you enjoy watching the upcoming videos.
Thank you so much for watching now enjoy benchmark, and this is where the benchmarks would have gone and probably what happened? Is I filmed this unboxing and I never did the benchmarks and I never put it together. I wish I was the most organized person on earth, but sometimes things like this just kind of get slipped through the cracks and fall apart. I don’t even own this card anymore.
I have long since sold this card, and so I couldn’t run a benchmark on it. If I mean I have a 1080 Ti upstairs my standard benchmark card at this point is a ZOTAC 1080 TI amp Extreme Edition, which is ridiculous and overkill. But it’s actually you know it’s it’s kind of cool, but no there’s no benchmarks.
Here, it’s a 1080 Ti. It’S water under the bridge at this point. Thank you all so much for supporting and I will see all of you next time. .
