Apple Forgot The iMac Pro

Apple Forgot The iMac Pro

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Apple Forgot The iMac Pro”.
Yo guys Travis here and apple forgot about the big iMac during this year’s scary, fast Apple event, which included new Macbook Pros and a new 24-in iMac. I really expected there to be a bigger iMac. We got a new family of chips, including M3, M3, Pro and M3 Max, alongside a new 14 and 16-in MacBook Pro and an updated iMac, but only the 24-in model, the 24-in model of which I’ll be covering on the channel very soon. So keep an eye out for that video And subscribe to make sure you don’t miss it. Also, if you didn’t catch the previous video, we are doing an iPhone 15 Pro giveaway, so go check that out as well and I’ll have the link in the video description now, if we rewind time a little bit, the last time we got a larger iMac was In 20120 – and it was still an Intel – it was a 27in 5k iMac and it launched at a price of $ 17.99.

That iMac was then discontinued, and it was replaced by a 24in M1 model that came out in 2021. In 2022, we got the studio display alongside the Mac Studio, which is basically the spiritual successor to the 27in iMac, for two reasons of which I don’t think that this is the the proper replacement for a larger iMac. Now reason: number one price: the 27in iMac of your was priced at $ 17.99, which honestly was a killer deal for what you got. If you look at the guts of that machine, it was basically an Apple Studio display with a $ 200 Mac inside the enclosure. Also, at that time, the 27in iMac was regarded as a higher power Mac, especially compared to the Mac Mini and the 21in iMac. At the time now, the cost associated with a higher power Mac alongside a 27in 5k display, is significantly more.

The studio display by itself is 1,600 bucks and then, if you look at the Mac Studio, which is obviously the higher power Mac that we have now, that’s another two grand to be fair. Now that we have apple silicon, a base model, Mac Mini, can run circles around any of those Intel iMacs. So let’s go with one of those. So if you look on apple.com, a Mac Mini is 600 bucks and then we take that $ 1600 Apple Studio display. We are much more than what a 27in iMac would have been worth, but comparatively to a Mac Studio Plus Studio display.

It is much cheaper, also side, not now. One thing that I noticed, while looking at the website, if you go through the checkout process of a Mac Mini Apple, even offers you to bundle a Apple Studio display with it, which makes me think that they should offer a discount where, when you bundle a Mac Studio, a Mac Pro or a Mac Mini you get a discount off the display. If there’s not a larger iMac to look forward to and this 27-in studio display is the way that Apple wants you to move with one of their three desktops.

A bundle option would be super nice, but we are still missing one more thing: the 27in iMac not only included the iMac, but it also Al included accessories like a keyboard and mouse love them or hate them. The magic keyboard and Magic Mouse add to the value of that 27in iMac from 2020. So that’s another $ 180 that would be added to that price. So now, if you take a complete setup, which would include a Mac Mini a studio display a keyboard and mouse we’re at $ 2,400, which is basically another $ 580 compared to what the iMac was, which essentially get to another base model Mac Mini now reason number Two all-in-one Apple in 199, 8 mastered the all-in-one form factor with the introduction of the original iMac and throughout the years of course, it changed its size and shape, but the allinone concept pretty much stayed the same. You go to the store you buy. One of these.

You open the box. You’Ve got one power, cable keyboard, mouse, plug that sucker into the wall and you’re ready to rip. Even a son and dog can set this up without the help of the parents having the display separately from the machine and then having to get your accessories like a keyboard and mouse not only makes the experience a little bit more cumbersome. It makes it more confusing it becomes more difficult to transport set up and even purchased for the lay in person.

Although there is a counterargument to this in that, when an iMac reaches old age and no longer supported by Mac OS, it really becomes a paper weight and newer. Imac cannot be used as an external monitor. So, from the perspective of e-waist having a separate Mac Mini and Studio, display means when that Mac Mini becomes a little bit too old, and you want to get a new one. You can just slot it in and continue using your display.

However, when you break it down, I think most folks that are buying an iMac are really just buying it for Simplicity and form. Now what does the future hold now that Apple confirmed that we won’t be getting a 27-in iMac replacement? Now my personal thought is, we won’t be getting a new 27 in. We will be getting a new 32in iMac. Now this 32-in iMac is more of a hope and a dream, but it could be possible.

My personal thought is that it would take on the form factor of the pro display xdr, with that 32in 6K display and have all the guts of a Mac Mini or a Mac Studio inside now. My only question with this larger iMac would be price and if we compare it to the pro display, xdr, that monitor is 4 years old. It’S $ 55,000 for the monitor only and an additional $ 1,000 for the stand, taking us up to six grand. If we look at display Tech in general, it’s evolved significantly since 2019, especially with the introduction of mini LED.

This is apparent in the new 14 and 16-in MacBook Pros that have xdr displays in the form factor of a laptop mini, LED in a form factor like a laptop is perfect. It keeps heat down power, consumption, low and very, very good image quality. Now I’m no apple engineer by any means, but if you look at the thickness of a pro display, xdr versus the thickness of a MacBook Pro display. Of course, there is variance here of size, but using a mini LED display in the Pro display. Xdr would allow for a lot more room inside to be able to fit the guts of a Mac Mini or Mac Studio.

Similarly, to the way the old iMac used to fit an entire computer in the back. So let’s take the base price of the pro display. Xdr, which is 5 grand that lines perfectly up with the iMac Pro that we got in 2017 and if you combine the processor advancements with apple silicon, combined with the display advancements that we’ve had since 2019. Together, you have the perfect recipe for an iMac Grande. This Mac would be perfect for Design Studios, photography, studios film, making houses and many more creative applications where you need a ton of machines, but you want to keep the Aesthetics nice and, if Apple, wanted, to bring the big boy iMac back with a bang.

Thunderbolt 5 has plenty of bandwidth to be able to offer Target display mode which would allow for a MacBook Pro or a Mac Mini or a Mac Studio to utilize. The iMac proos 32in 6K xdr display as an external display, and ultimately I think, a larger iMac or iMac Pro whatever it could be, is the only product missing in the lineup right now. The lineup of Max in its entirety is the cleanest. It’S been in a very long time. We have a 13-in air, a 15-in air, a 14-in pro and a 16-in pro. Then we have three desktops with the Mac Mini Mac, Studio and Mac Pro, and then.

Lastly, we have the 24-in iMac in solidarity by itself. Only offered in a single size with non-pro chips, and I think that this bigger 32in iMac or iMac Pro whatever it becomes, would be the perfect companion to the 24-in iMac. It would have a larger higher resolution 6K display and it would have Pro chips inside. So that’s my thought in terms of where we are in need of a larger iMac and from 2009 all the way up to 2020.

I think the 27in iMac was a very loved Machine by many, including myself, and that’s why I think Apple should make a larger iMac. Thank you. So much for watching drop a comment Down Below on what dream iMac feature you would want and have a good night .
