Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Adam Savage Walks and Talks at Maker Faire”.
Um welcome back to maker faire. Thank you missed you last year, i’m sorry i wasn’t able to make it. Last year i felt terrible about it. How was uh, how does it feel to miss a year and come back to maker faire for the first time ever? It’S great um, you know. Last year i missed it. I was in an airport a couple of days afterwards and someone just walked up to me and said: missed you the other day and that’s all they had to say, and i was like i’m really sorry and it felt like it was being part of a great Community that we both knew what we were talking about, we didn’t have to give it any context.
I love the community here. I’Ve only missed one maker faire and it’s it’s amazing. How big of a difference! It is just a two year gap because, because the technology moves so fast, the community’s moving so fast, it’s it’s really it’s! I love seeing the kids doing stuff the younger. They are the more inspired i am by watching what they do yeah.
So, what’s your one skill that you think everybody should learn? Oh my gosh, i’m making things out of paper. Great, that’s perfect! The reason is, is that if you make things out of paper, the same rules apply for carpentry or for sewing or for welding. It’S just joining planar forms under different rules, and so that was absolutely my gateway and led to corrugated cardboard, the greatest of all making materials, the ultimate prototyping material.
Absolutely it’s amazing, and what’s the one skill that you haven’t learned yet that you want to learn, i am currently in the very beginning process of learning how to tig welt and i have a tig welder. I have it all set up in my shop. I’Ve done a little bit of it, but i’d love to get better at it because i’m dying to weld aluminum awesome, i’m uh about to embark on the same journey. So i’m looking forward to watching and learning through your experiences.
But i appreciate you being here at maker faire again, it’s my pleasure. I i like i said i love this community. I love coming here. The crowds are so amazing, very cool thanks, adam absolutely.
