Moving a Range of Cells in Excel

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Moving a Range of Cells in Excel”.
In this short Excel video, I’m going to show you how to easily and quickly move data in your Excel spreadsheets. Let’S get started so here we have a spreadsheet, it’s an inventory of some toys and let’s say I would like to move this range of cells. In my Excel spreadsheet, you may know that you can click and drag to highlight a range and then cut that range and then paste it. So I could hold control tap X to cut, and then I could click where I want that range to move to and hold control and tap V to paste. So that’s certainly one way to move data in Microsoft Excel, but let’s look at another way.

That often is simpler and easier to use, especially if the range that you want to move is kind of small and discreet. This second method can be a lot easier once again, I’m going to click and drag to highlight the range I want to move, but this time time, instead of cutting and pasting, I’m just going to move my mouse pointer to the very edge of this range of Data, it could be the right Edge, it could be the top Edge left, Edge bottom Edge, doesn’t matter but I’ll just click and hold the click and then drag that range of data where I want it to be release the mouse button and it moves to that Location, so I can quickly and easily move a range of data anywhere I want to in Microsoft Excel. Could I do that with this range here with a much bigger data set? Certainly I could I could just click and drag to highlight the range go to the edge click and drag to move that data now notice, when I do that the column, widths and other settings that I had for that range get messed up a little bit. So that’s one of the downsides to doing this, but in many many cases selecting the range that you want to move then going to the edge of that range clicking and dragging and then releasing the mouse button is going to be the best easiest most convenient way For you to move data in your Excel spreadsheets, thanks for watching, I hope you found this tutorial to be helpful.
