Apple Make a New MacBook

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Apple Make a New MacBook”.
A portion of today’s video sponsored by Cuts – hey everyone Travis here and the MacBook lineup in 2024, is honestly in the best shape it’s been in a very long time. We have a 13 and 15in air and a 14 and 16in pro, but what if the 12-in MacBook came back now that the Apple Vision Pro has basically been out for 2 weeks now and the dust is settling. I wanted to shift Focus to a Mac. Video specifically where we are with the MacBooks in 2024 and 9 years ago, Apple released the 12-in MacBook, and it was quite something something that I think was ahead of its time and apple learned a lot from and got a lot of feedback in regards to love. It or hate it, the 12-in MacBook had its quirks questionable design choices and a high price point for what it was, but I think, underneath all that Apple learned a lot from this machine and it was a great Concept in theory.

First, off going Allin on USBC in the year 20 5 seems wild now, looking back from 2024 and realizing there’s still some Apple products today that still don’t have USBC. This machine started the dongle craze, which ended up making its way to the MacBook Pros and MacBook airs later on from the 2016 through 2019 era of MacBook Pros, especially coming from the 2015 Retina display Macbook that had all the io you’d ever need. The only issue here is that you basically had to compromise, IO or thickness and apple went with IO, and this computer only had one USBC port and a headphone jack on the other side, now ports or lack thereof out of the way there was two other main Issues with this computer one is, it was massively underpowered and two, oh boy, that keyboard the Intel M series of chips that ended up in these machines were not powerful at all, even by the 2015 standards. These chips were fanless only had two cores and had a very low clock, speed to make sure that thermals were in check, but it was really intended for Ultra portable thin laptops to use for very light tasks, and it was honestly just that combining low CPU performance Alongside Intel, integrated Graphics is not the greatest combination of power, but you have to think this. Computer does not have any sort of fan and it’s super thin. Even by today’s standards for school or business for basic typing documents surfing the web and checking emails. It was fine, but if you wanted to do anything more than that, it struggled, and I will say the only thing that saved making any sort of content on this computer at that time was the fact that it had Intel’s quicksync video, which accelerated video processes that Were using h264, which at the time was the main codec everybody was using, but other than that it was nothing compared to the pros or even the airs at the time, which still were fan cooled and the last quirky part of this machine. Well, the main stuff is that keyboard and I think it speaks for itself. I wrote the entire script for this video on a 2015 base model MacBook, and while it wasn’t that bad, that keyboard is not that great. Now, looking Back 9 years later now, this is another example of Apple taking form over function and with this keyboard, if you got any sort of dust or dirt, it is going to have some sticky keys and there was a whole Scandal about this entire thing. With warranty, Replacements and top cases being replaced for this keyboard, not only in this computer but in the pros, as well so Apple completely abandoned this keyboard. Comparing this to an M1 MacBook Air, which is a computer that I type on very often the M1 eror smokes. This machine, and the other odd part, is that the 2015 MacBook Pros had one of the best keyboards Apple’s ever made in a laptop, and then they went to this, and another thing that has both Form and Function is clothing. Thank you again to cuts for sponsoring this portion of today’s video. Now, let’s get to the good stuff on this machine, which I do think there was quite a bit now. First, up here is the terorist battery technology, which, at the time Apple, had to figure out a way to use the most amount of internal space of this thing and fit batteries wherever they could Apple, was able to make terrist batteries which fit all the way to The edge of the front of the machine to maximize that internal space, which I think made its way into the battery technology that we have now. The other aspect here is the speakers which are above the keyboard, which is not common for any of the MacBooks, but the sound quality for this machine is actually not that bad, and I think this is where they started to turn it around with their audio. In the machines and lastly, the retina display in this machine is essentially 1440p and it’s honestly, a very goodlook panel for 2015.

Even considering the fact that it’s this thin I’ll, be it at the expense of its 480p FaceTime camera and the last thing for this MacBook, which I think anybody that’s owned, one of these machines, while they were out for only three generations or one that’s seen one In person is the fact that this thing is a dream to carry around. It’S super thin and super light, and it honestly encourages you to bring it everywhere with you, and I honestly think that the M1 air, as I bring that machine everywhere. If that were to take form of this size, it would be an awesome business machine and I think now that we’re several years deep into the Apple silicon era of Max, I think Apple – should do a MacBook redo but position it a little bit differently. I think if this thing had a M3 chip, even if it still had one port, but if that was Thunderbolt 4 and the keyboard of the M2 MacBook Air, this thing would be awesome. Additionally, if Apple pitched this as a Mac, that’s an entrylevel machine even lower than the MacBook Air and set the price point at $ 749 or $ 7.99. I think that would be awesome.

The only other thing I thought about here in terms of cutting costs and making this machine cheaper, is putting an A series chip instead of an M series chip. If this was the first Mac to, let’s say, take the a17 pro from the iPhone 15 and put that in a Mac, since that’s the same exact architecture that could lower the price point. A7, pro has plenty of power to be able to do basic level tasks and, of course, that’s the same exact architecture. So you wouldn’t have to do anything to Mac OS and it would fit perfect in a machine this thin because obviously iPhones don’t have any sort of cooling revisiting this machine 9 years later and looking at it from the standpoint of what it offered good and bad. The Experience on this, this machine was actually kind of divided. On one hand, you had a really awesome design, something that was super lightweight and thin that you want to take around with you everywhere and on the other.

You had a lackluster keyboard, an underpowered CPU and an experience that was kind of lackluster compared to the erors in the pros. Now, similarly, to the homepod, which I think Apple used, all the R .
