The end of dwarfheim yeah: do you remember that game? We played one time and it was terrible, really cool concept, though I was wondering why this was in it’s kind of like a a Warcraft, 3 Graphics uh. You know Bird’s ey view strategy game, but it’s three player co-op, so you all work together to build the same base and defend it against like hordes of enemies or something yeah. Theoretically, I mean we never really got that far, because we couldn’t figure out how the crap to play it, because the tutorials were kind of useless um. Their servers are going offline in 27 days, um and but it’s this note on the steam page that really stood out to me. I was just I was going through installing games for for the L, and I was like oh yeah dwarfheim. I wonder what’s going on with that, and it was just serendipitous like we’re a month from the server going offline and they just posted this uh. I don’t know a few days ago. I think, hey everyone. We have some news to share on the future of dwarfheim. Sometime after 1.0, the developers dissolved, which means we have no source code and no means to continue to update the game. In the meanwhile, we have been maintaining servers to enable players to continue playing the game.
Unfortunately, it is no longer feasible to continue to maintain servers. So we will be removing dwarfheim from sale as soon as valve is able to make this change to prevent any further sales and then dwarfheim server support will end on the 30th of November 2023, due to the way that dwarfheim was built, it is not possible to Play the game without servers and without the development team or the source code there’s no way we can patch in offline play. Thank you to everyone who supported dwarfheim, merge games. What this is the future of gaming.
It also sounds like a and we’ve allowed this to happen. What is this book series that we’re propped up on Series of Unfortunate Events or something to be clear? I don’t think this game was ever really going to go anywhere. It was super buggy. The concept cep was really cool.
There was like an underground where, like one person could be working on like Mining, and then there was like an Overworld where you could work on Base building or you scouting or whatever else there was. There was stuff for all three players to do. It was just it was kind of a mess um, but that’s not the point. The point is that it’s completely lost and so will be every game that is reliant on online servers that are maintained by companies who are not forced not legislated into, ensuring that that that service will remain either available or in a form where it can be maintained. On an ongoing basis by an active Community or another development yeah I mean you can currently purchase stuff for dwarf I’m right now. So that’s kind of weird .
