Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Unboxing Space Black MacBook Pro M3 Max + Hands On!”.
What’S going on guys, it’s your average consumer and, as you can see, it is MacBook time, so we just got our hands on the brand new 16-in space black MacBook Pro. This one is equipped with the M3 Max we’re going to talk about all those new M3s in a bit. Let’S start off with a quick unboxing, so we can see what it’s actually like, all right, all right now, I’ve been waiting for this moment. You guys, because I went to the scary fast event. It was pretty dark. It was at night, so I didn’t get to see just how black the space black MacBook is. So I can’t wait to you, know, take this out and see it during the day with proper lighting we’ll get to it.
Let’S see what else is in the box, so we got some paperwork. Of course all black Apple stickers. That’S all that matters in here. Just joking, you got your quick start guide your safe safety and warranty information, all that good stuff.
So we’ve got a black braided, mag, safe, cable, love that and we got the charging brick the 140 watt, brick, so lots of juice in here. So, let’s put this stuff to the side, I’m very excited h, H. They like how does he feel it’s black? It’S not Pitch Black, though it’s not Pitch Black and a lot of us didn’t think it was going to look super dark. Your guys, thoughts. It’S it’s black, but it catches a lot like reflection.
It catches the light right, so it makes it look a little bit lighter okay, so this is definitely the darkest recent MacBook. Although I’m curious what it looks like compared to the midnight, the bluish color, that they’ve had I’m curious, what that looks like side by side all right, you guys. So here we have space, gray and midnight, which is a newer color, and you can clearly see the space. Black is definitely darker by a bit. I think what might get some people is when you hear space black You’re expect it to be like a really deep black.
So I like it like, don’t get me wrong, I like it, but I think just how dark it is was a big question. A lot of people had, interestingly enough, this thing does have an anodized seal on it. So one issue with like this midnight is that you can see fingerprints on it all day, like it’s pretty easy to get fingerprints on it. I was not able to get any fingerprints on this guy.
It does a way way better job at resisting fingerprints. I could. I could throw down some fingerprints, but my man, Jay does have me, beat so Jay. I’M I’m ready.
You ready go ahead. Let’S, let’s, let’s see this is a big test for me. Damn Jay you’re, just something different! Oh H, wait wait they’re going away, though oh that was a lot. I threw a lot of it now.
Try this golly yeah, that’s different, but yeah. Look at the difference between the MacBook Air and the space black, so whatever coating this anodized coating, we need that on this one too, on the the next one. Okay, so we’re all excited about a new color, but let’s actually pop this thing open all right. So I’m going to go ahead, set this thing up a little bit and let’s talk about what this thing actually brings to the table all right, so I’ve got it all set up, but we haven’t taken a look around the actual laptop yet same as the previous 16In MacBook Pros, but for those who are maybe first time buyers.
Let’S take a look on the left side. We’Ve got our mag safe charging, port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, 3.5 mm headphone jack and on the right side, we’ve got an HDMI port, another Thunderbolt, 4 Port. As well as an SD card reader and um, that’s that’s your Port okay. So we spent a lot of time talking about like the physical Hardware, but now we got to talk about what’s inside.
So of course, as you know, Apple announced some new Chips. We’Ve got the M3 line, so we’ve got the M3 M3 Pro and M3 Max now remember when we dropped our M2 video we kind of went over, who should upgrade from which version of M1 to what version of M2. If you needed to, I highly recommend checking out that video. If you want to learn the thought process behind how you should upgrade, I think that video explains it pretty well um. But what I do want to talk about with this whole M3 series is kind of like who this is geared toward towards. If you watched Apple’s keynote, they actually spent a lot of time comparing the M3 to like the M1 and the Intel base Max which were before the m1’s, and I think that actually makes sense. I think the only people that should be worrying about purchasing an M3 uh MacBook are folks who maybe have an M1 or who have like the older Intel models, or maybe even firsttime buyers. If you have an M2 chances, are you probably don’t need to look at this unless you’re dying for space black or you want to upgrade the kind of processor that it is so if you’re going from like M2 to M3 Max or something then that’ll make sense? Now Us, in the studio over here we’re still on the M1 lineup.
I think we Jay, both on both of us, are rocking the M1 Max right for our laptops and so we’re rocking to M1 Max, and we can pretty much do whatever we need to on the channel on those older machines, older uh, but now with the M3. The upgrade up grades compared to the m1’s are they’re worth taking a look at so I’m curious. We got this here. I think Jay.
We pit it up against like one of our machines and just see what like export times are like I got to say it is nice to be able to like purchase a laptop and know for a fact that it’s going to last you a few years. It’S not like with the phones where you know you could potentially just buy a new phone every year with these you can buy it and then it’ll last you like easily four or 5 years. If you wanted to all right so now we have the machine that gets honestly a lot of the editing done on this channel and we’ve got the new guy. So let’s go ahead. I mean we’re we’re video folks over here. So this is the way we kind of test stuff um. Obviously, there’s going to be more applications we’ll go through like some more stuff in like a full review uh, but as of right now we just want to see if it’s something that would make us want to make the switch over it’s a lot of there. A lot of stuff to download and re configure jumping over and easy all right, exact, same settings, exact same length, same file, size to be exported, and let’s do it all right, so we finished our little test.
They were given the exact same job now this guy finished and exported a video, a press, video in 7 minutes flat, and this one took 12 minutes flat. So we just saved 5 minutes over here on an export which sometimes could be very, very crucial for us. Jay I mean do is, is now the time do we do it? Now? I don’t know man. This is actually pretty convincing.
That’S like almost half the time. Yeah I mean that’s a big deal. Obviously we got to hit it with some harder stuff uh. This was a very basic just exporting test, but man that’s impressive.
I think a lot of us who are on like the higher end versions of M1 kind of feel, like listen, you’re, not going to move me unless it’s something substantial and right now. I feel like it’s absolutely worth considering, and they did a little bit more on the graphic side of things. With this you know it’s got Ray tracing now, Apple’s really trying to step into that gaming Market quite a bit more and now that this thing has raay tracing games are going to look a lot better. Here I don’t know man Apple’s Hardware is getting there.
We just need steam get Steam on here and like get some developers to Port their stuff, it’s going to be wild in the future, but as it right now, Color Me impressed we’ll get the full review going, but that about wraps it up for this video guys.
