So you’re on your Amazon device and you’re just fed up of seeing large home screen adverts, you’re fed up of seeing sponsored applications, promoted content and really just your home screen. Looking like a big mess. Now we can see on my device if I just press the home button, we can see that in 3, 2 1 Click. My device instantly takes me to a custom launcher where I can now use custom backgrounds, custom wallpapers, I can create custom section.
I can move applications around. I can hide applications and really just get my home screen. Looking exactly how I like it and, of course, with the big benefit of not seeing any adverts, any sponsored content and really just giving me a much more smoother, faster and more fluid device.
Now I’ve been waiting for the right time to give out the new version of launcher manager, which was created by Swing wolf for me, and this custom version that you’re not going to find anywhere else. I’M hoping this is going to evade this application from being blocked. As we’ve seen with some of the previous versions and something really special that I’ve noticed with the new second generation, fire stick mags and also the 4K fire stick, the device is running fire os8 on those devices is actually a very instant seamless experience. So let me now jump onto my second generation. Five stick mags and let’s start the process. So step one head over to your settings go down into where it says: myi TV. Let’S click on that, where it says developer options, let’s click there and make sure you’ve enabled ADB, debugging and also go to install unknown apps and make sure downloader is set to on once.
You’Ve confirmed those two things: let’s now open up downloader, we can now make a quick connection to my website, which is just tech.com or you can type in the short code 53402, and this will take you directly to my website now, when you get to my site, If you head over to the hamburger menu, which is one with the three lines, click on that click on tutorials and the latest tutorial in the list will be how you can get this new custom version of launcher manager on all of your devices. Here we are so custom launcher for Fir and also your Android TV devices, your Nvidia Shields, your chomecast, your on streaming boxes, all supported, keep scrolling down and underneath all of that, the step-by-step instructions will have a few updated files. Now the first one is the new custom version of uh launcher manager. So get this.

I’Ve added in three custom launchers, depending on what you’re interested in what you want to do. You can get one of these three here, so in my demonstration, I’m going to download launcher manager 119.
I want to download F launcher as well, so I get both those installed onto my device once that’s done. Let’S now press the home button, okay, so now we’re going to start launcher manager for the first time. Let’S click on that, and this is where it gets very interesting on the new Fire os8 devices, because something has been clearly missed from Amazon, because right now on these devices, I can go to launcher options we can see here. We have the new method which relies on ADB. It relies for something to be logged by your device and when that gets detected, a custom launcher is then opened up instead and during that process, because it can take a couple of seconds, which is why you normally see that delay before your custom launcher is displayed. But on these devices I can actually go in, say I want to use the old method so the way the things were working before the good old days it looks like on these devices. We can still do that method.
So on this device, I’m just going to click on enable custom launcher. So let me click on that. We can see no warnings, no errors, and it tells me that my current launcher is the F launcher. But if you want to change that, I can go back to launcher options and where it says, custom launcher options. I can click on that and, of course you can now click here and choose any launcher that you like, but on this device. My second generation five stick Max. I only have one launcher, so I’m going to leave that, as is but, for example, you can use the K application if you want to use that as your home screen. So, let’s go back so because we’ve Now set that and we’ve set that by using the old method, as you can see here, where I click on enable custom launcher just to do that one more time, I’m just so shocked that it works. Because now you can see guys if I press home 3 2 1.
We are instantly taken to a custom launcher, so no delays, no warnings, no popups and I’m hoping now with this special version. This should hopefully last for a while now, if on your device, if you try to do this, let’s go back to launcher manager. Let’S go back to launcher options.
In fact, I can demonstrate this on my other device. My third gen gen Cube. Let me jump on that so here on my third gen Cube. Let’S say this is the device you want to use this custom version of launcher manager. You can click on this and, if you try to use the old method, let’s click on enable custom launcher click on that.
You get that error there. Now, if you see that on your device, it means your device, for various reasons cannot use the old method. You have to now utilize a new method which I have covered before, but very briefly, you want to click on this where it says home Buton hook. You want to select that and the top two options here where they say off.
You want to set those as on so let’s click on that. Okay, that did nothing. Let’S click on that again.
That now says on second option: let’s click on that that now also says on. I can now press back go back into the launcher options and we’re using the home button hook now, where it says, use a custom launcher. I can click here and I can now select a custom launcher scroll down.
Let’S use a project IV launcher. Let’S click on that says: project IV is now your custom launcher. If I now press the home button, so 3, 2 1 go that that’s still pretty instantaneous, but you’ll notice that once the launcher has loaded. If I press home again, it is still pretty quick.
That’S working great, oh you see there, you can see it’s occasionally. You may see the home screen just for a second, and, if you want to, there is a custom script that you can add inside launcher manager, which was written by one of the XDA guys, which I did Cover in a previous video. If you want to do that and that would just ensure that your stock launcher will stay hidden, but generally you can see, the response is still pretty good. Guys and again, you can now use a custom launcher and customize that exactly how you like it. So if on your device, you can’t use the old method. This is how you use the old method.
Let’S go back to my second gen five. Stick Max, I mean here. The experience is just beautiful, just literally one click and it’s just instantaneous and when you press it again, you can see there’s no flickering because the stock launcher has been properly and I mean properly disabled now. Just a quick summary here, if you guys are interested in this launcher, which I do like, is very slick very fast. If I want to change the wallpaper, I can click on the Cog wheel, where it says wallpaper. I can select that I can now browse an online library on unsplash. I have lots of categories here, so if I’m interested in animals, I can click on that, and this will then give me some cow pics or some Panda piics or some line pick so depending on what you’re interested in you can do that it’s looking great, if You want to create a custom category, you can click on the Cog wheel go back to categories, let’s just create one called um tools. So, let’s type that in you can also use your voice.
That’S done! Click on next there’s your new category at the Top. If you don’t want it at the top, you can click on the small Arrow next to it. Let’S bring that down.
Let’S put it under my my apps: let’s leave it there, let’s press back now, when you want to add applications to this new category. You can click on applications and, for example, let’s just add in uh analyti click on the plus, where you want to add it. I want to add it into tools.
That’S done, let’s also add in app info manager, and this is a great way for you to confirm the package name of your applications. Click on that add that to tools so two applications in there. Let’S press back and if you want to customize the category, go back into the category, select tools again: click on the Cog wheel and, for example, I want to customize the row High because it looks a bit big and you can make it really small by selecting 80, you can obviously change the name. You can change the Sorting you can also make into a grid if you want to. But the main thing is you have that complete customization? Some of you may want basic wallpaper. Some of you may want landscape wallpaper.
All of that is built in and really supported by most custom launches, so super easy to use, giving you that complete customization, giving you that total flexibility and, of course, with that big benefit without seeing any of that Amazon stuff, so really appreciate your support.
