Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Google Pixel 7 REDUX: The BENCHMARK for Android!”.
So we said back at launch that the pixel 7 was underrated. Is that still the case so almost a year later, welcome to Redux and we’re going to find out if that statement still holds true, I think there actually is a lot more to the pixel 7 than just being a cut down version of the pixel 7 Pro And I’m gon na get the good things out of the way first, which seems pretty fair. It’S a slight reimagining of the pixel 6 to better line up with the pro version. As there was some discrepancies between those two in the previous generation, and I think that the design changes strike a fine balance between staying true to the 7 Pro, while also managing to be more pocket and hand friendly. Especially those of you who want a smaller phone and at 6.1 inches, I would say it’s not exactly a small phone, but a phone that still offers a smaller option. Given the hulking sizes of modern Flagship phones, the pixel 7 Pro included, what’s more enticing with this device besides the size or the size decrease. Is that flat screen itself, since the Advent of curved displays, we’ve seen a bit of a split or a Divergence? Why more affordable options tend to stick with flat screens is a bit of a confusing aspect of this Divergence, but it is here, and it is noticeable the pixel 7’s full HD Plus screen itself, though, is excellent.
The bezels could be a little bit smaller overall, as there is a minor chin here, but overall, it’s a fine panel that has vastly improved in terms of the maximum brightness and color tuning over its predecessor. One thing that really strikes me right away, though, is how good the screen is when compared to other. Similarly, priced screens, videos look excellent with great View and angles, superb contrast, and although you can’t fully tune this to your own heart’s content, the preset color profiles baked into Android 13, allow you to make adjustments where you feel they might be necessary. As with any phone, though, it would be nice to be able to make that screen a tad brighter, but for now it’s a really good option and it has aged particularly well, especially through those hotter summer months, obviously as well.
A flat screen has those extra usability benefits on top every single time that I do come back to the pixel 7 the size and that flat screen combo do make it more comfortable for me to use plus the improved fingerprint scanner plays way nicer with screen protectors And overall, it’s just a lot better. If you don’t like that, you can always stick with Face Unlock, which is another nice addition, given the regular pixel 7 was not the outright Powerhouse phone in the lineup, it’s more than acceptable. Given the price point, there are a few. Similarly priced phones out there that tell improvements. However, this is right in the ballpark for what a mid-level or entry level within a flagship lineup should provide, at least in terms of performance overhead. Save a few camera features everything that you can do on the pixel 7 Pro you can do here and that’s actually quite a lot. That obviously includes lots of machine learning, power tasks and enhanced processing when compared to directly priced Rivals. The tensor g2’s lack of processing overhead is actually quite less pronounced because you’re not necessarily getting Flagship processors at that 600 price point.
Just don’t treat the pixel 7 as a gaming phone, because this is certainly not. It will do just fine with most 3D titles. But as I mentioned in our pixel 7 Pro revisit, it can be a little or can get a little warm when using it, which poses its own problems. When we look at competitor chipsets, one of the most impressive aspects of the pixel 7, though, is that core dual camera system them and it will wipe the floor with most sub 700 smartphones out there.
A lot of the quality here, though, is provided by the 50 megapixel main sensor, which handles absolutely everything you can throw at it. The key strengths, though there HDR, processing, image, sharpness, contrast, the color balance and how well the system handles moving subjects. Another impressive aspect is just how long the battery withstands daily use and abuse on the pixel 7..
It’S more impressive, because tensor G2 isn’t the most efficient chip, it’s just a re-gig of the previous tensor processor and it also comes with a fairly small 4 355 milliamp hour battery, and that itself seems like it would cause some problems with the system that actually isn’t The case sure the pixel 7 isn’t a battery Beast by any stretched imagination, but it’s a competent competitor that shouldn’t let you down unless you Veer off into what I’d consider intense usage. That said, using things like GPS, heavy applications at least all day might require regular top-ups and then you’re having to deal with slow biology methods. So that’s a good out of the way, of course, a 599 smartphone will no doubt offer compromises, and the pixel 7 can escape that one of the most prominent is that that 90 Hertz refresh rate has felt to me a little slow. But that’s not the right. Word I would say that, given 120 hertz displays are now becoming the norm at practically this price point and every price point for that matter.
This feels like a harsh knockdown, but with the pixel 7A, now available it ships with a 90 Hertz screen of its own, and it does feel like the pixel 7 screen is cheapened as a result of that another annoyance is the lack of a telephoto zoom lens. That’S been one of the biggest saw points for what is otherwise a flagship tier camera system. From a personal perspective. This is why I actually haven’t been able to switch from the pixel 7 Pro to this device. Despite what I’d consider the superior form factor of the regular pixel 7., you personally will need to work out if this diminishes the camera system enough for you and if you can give that up, one of the biggest gripes or criticisms, though, that you can level up The pixel 7 is not what it can and can’t do, though, it’s that the pixel 7A now exists. This is not just a non-pro version of the pixel 7 Pro either the lines between the a series and the regular pixel are now starting to become really really blurred, while the Gap with the pro will actually widen, as Google keeps pumping out devices year after year And that poses problems for devices such as this.
That sounds like a lack of approval, because in actuality, it’s the opposite. I think the pixel 7 is a great phone, which is sandwiched between two distinct price points. I think up your budget and you get the best pixel to date, lower it and you get one of the best budget phones that you can go out and buy, and I would refrain from calling the pixel 7 underrated after a year, like many may have back At launch, but it is a damn fine phone that underlines the improvements Google Hardware has made over the past few years, and it’s something we want to see. Google continue to do as they release new versions of the pixel series. I want to know that.
