Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “What We REALLY Think About The Moto RAZR/RAZR+”.
So remember the mid-2000s when Motorola was the coolest kid on the Block yeah, I think they’re, finally back and for real this time. Yes, after being absent for more than a year, the Moto Razer is back, but with a far more logical approach and in two new flavors for an added kick see. Now that the foldable novelty has worn off and flip phones have reached mainstream pricing. Motorola didn’t just decide to catch up, but actually challenge every flipfoldable. We know in both pricing and features I’m Jaime Rivera with pocket now, and there are a lot of reasons why you should care. So, let’s just dive in after spending some time with them. The Moto Razer 2019 was a really tough sell. It relied on a lot of the mid-2000s Nostalgia even up to its design, but it proved to be too fragile and underpowered for 14.99 to make sense of it was pretty much a mid-ranger with a party trick. You you think version 2 would address all this, but the Razer 5G wasn’t really that much better and for also a steep 13.99. It wasn’t until Generation 3 that a lot of this got solved, but for some reason that Razer 2022 never left China. Clearly, the company wanted to do something bigger in our Shores and I think that it has finally delivered so to start, at least in the United States, they’ll be called the Moto Razer and Moto Razer, plus, though, from the blog post.
I know in other regions names like the Razer, 40 Ultra will be used and trust me. I do not get it either now, for this video I’ll be focusing more on the plus variant, because in another odd move, the more affordable base model won’t launch. Until later. This year – and we don’t even have details on the pricing and that’s actually the perfect segue for why you should care the first thing: Motorola fixed was the price, as this Razer plus sells for a reasonable 9.99, and then the second thing fixed is that, yes, that Price is 4 for the more expensive Flagship, because it’s no longer a mid-ranger. That means Snapdragon, 8 plus gen 1, with plenty of RAM and storage a far larger battery than any razor before it.
The latest Wi-Fi Bluetooth, 5G nip rating fast wired and even wireless charging like seriously welcome to the race Motorola, but wait there’s more notice how people’s biggest complaint with other foldables is trying to use them when closed well, say hello to an outer display. That’S so large it even spills over the actual dual camera module, but don’t worry, there’s a menu option to be able to go around that at 3.6 inches diagonal 413 pixels per inch, 1100 nits of brightness and 144hz refresh rate. It makes other primary displays.
Look bad and then there’s the fact that Motorola has always done a better job with widgets than competitors, but now it’s also pretty usable with whatever applications can scale to a square aspect ratio which is actually most Android applications, oh and as for the cameras, we’re talking. 12 megapixels for the primary shooter, matched with a 13 megapixel Ultra wide and then a 32 megapixel selfie shooter, flip it open and sure, since the chin is now gone, we’re now left with all display. This is a 6.9 inch, full HD, Plus po leaded 22×9 aspect ratio, all the certifications you can think of, and the 165 Hertz refresh rate along with 1400 nits of peak brightness and improved dual firing.
Speakers will be testing during a review now, as for the crease, also no worries Motorola pretty much pioneered the bell-shaped design that helps this phone close, fully shut and leave almost no crease when open, since both the inner and outer displays share the exact same pixel density. Continuity between them is supported and then there’s a ton of other Motorola Services baked into Android 13. To enhance the experience from the camera gestures to the flashlight to a ton of other conveniences.
You already know and I’ll be sure to dig into when we get our full review unit, given the fact that I had too little time with the device to tell you if it’s good or not man, sure a lot of the design elements that made this razor Are gone like the chin and the approach of the bezels, but listen in the end, the Nostalgia didn’t really pay off. Functionality is what actually sells. As a result, we even get a flex mode for propping this on a table and using it in different ways regardless.
I like what I see, I think the price is right and I’m excited particularly for the Viva magenta variant with the vegan leather back. The glacier, blue and black also look cool with a more traditional aluminum and gorilla glass thickness for anyone looking for something more conventional. Now I actually think the bigger story is the base Moto razor.
The company still hasn’t provided details on its launch date or pricing, but has claimed that it’ll be meaningfully more affordable and that’s exactly what this Market needs. I even think that it redefines the premium mid-ranger because it doesn’t cheap out on materials with vegan leather all around and with the same exact inner display. We have on the more expensive model sure you might think the outer 1.6 inch display is too small.
But it’s not as if competitors do more with their larger offerings and Motorola was smart about what to do with the extra real estate see. This allows a larger sensor on the primary camera module than even the Razer plus with a 64 megapixel primary, and then you also get the 13 megapixel Ultra wide and the 32 megapixel selfie shooter. So it’s not like, if you’re gon na skimp out on what you can do with these cameras either. It also has some slight improvements in specification says this allows for a larger power pack than the Razer plus as well. Once you match this with the Snapdragon 7 gen 1, which is more focused on efficiency than horsepower, I think the combo is pretty good and I feel the same about the rest of the specs, with h, slash 128 in Ram and storage, fast wired and then wireless Charging the latest Wi-Fi Bluetooth, 5G and even the IP rating of its more expensive brother, so yeah think of it. A Razer plus that already makes existing flip foldables look a bit dated with the exception of the Chip And then a razor that’s out to drive the price of the market down. All we need now is for both of these phones to walk the talk and I’m not gon na lie.
I can remember the last time that I was this excited about Motorola phones. I know the brand has been succeeding in the mid to low end with the Moto G, but I think that this is exactly what it needed to show that it also belongs with the cool kids or, if anything, invented the category when it came to phones.
