Listen, I’m not gon na lie. You, like me, probably have preconceived notions about Chromebooks, you probably think of them as like, be for your netbooks and I’m asking to put those preconceived notions aside, because Lenovo IdeaPad cloud gaming Chromebook despite being a very long name uh, is not your ordinary computer. So I think it’s probably fair to say that most people could be a Chromebook is not a full computer experience.
It can do a lot of things and oftentimes they’re good products. My kids, for example, uh use them every day, helps them do the work wherever they are because they are cloud-based, sometimes left us wanting more out of them. That’S a fair, honest statement.
So a year ago it was a lot more difficult to game. On a Chromebook. You know, unless you count the the dinosaur jumping over the birds, which I kind of love, that game the latest innovation in cloud gaming.
You don’t need a bulka computer or a game console to play your favorite games and I’m probably not telling you something you don’t already know. You’Ve probably never seen that experience on a Chromebook. That’S exactly what this IdeaPad is doing. It’S bringing the high-end gaming experience to a Chromebook with the features packed inside and if you give it a shot and put those preconceived notions aside, I think, for the most part, you’ll be very surprised. I have said it many times. I’Ve embraced it.
I put my nose up. I am a screen snob and when you’re gaming I expect even more out of a display and there’s nothing worse, at least to me than trying to play an immersive game on a really bad screen. Well I’ll say this about the IdeaPad: it’s probably the best display I’ve ever used on a Chromebook, so it’s 16 inch QHD screen, which is pretty big, and the cherry on top supports 120 hertz of refresh rate.
Then Chromebook, It’s pretty dope. Not only does the screen support High refresh rates, but it can also game those High refresh rates. So every time they use the computer you’re experiencing High refresh smoothness and all of its smoothness Glory this one’s a little strange for Chromebook, I’m not gon na lie, but there is an RGB gaming keyboard built in if I’ve learned anything, nothing says gaming, like maybe an Energy drink or two uh in RGB, the keyboard itself actually looks and feels great to use and also the keyboard’s got anti-ghosting to make sure you’re, not missing uh any of those keystrokes and, of course it’s not just for gaming.
Obviously, but a lot of time you’ll be doing other things besides games having a good keyboard sort of built into the machine does make a big difference. [ Applause ] all right. So at this point you’re probably asking yourself did I win the giveaway or you’re? Also asking: how are you supposed to game uh on a Chromebook uh, like I said cloud, gaming platforms have been getting better and better, more importantly, more reliable and more reliable and you can access them right from the web, which is the sweet spot for a Chromebook. It’S my favorite service for this at least right now, uh, it’s probably Nvidia GeForce now gives you access to over a thousand games instantly because they’re in the cloud you don’t have to actually download or install anything, just choose the game. You want and start playing and a perk of getting this Chromebook, specifically they’re, actually going to give you three free months of GeForce now so you know that’s great free games, because this is running through the cloud you can get really awesome, graphics performance, so GeForce now Supports 120 hertz Ray tracing and all of that stuff again through the cloud they’ve also claimed in the future. It’Ll be major graphic updates to give even better experience, but you don’t need to update your computer because the video will do it on their end.
So you have instant access to that too, when it comes, which is awesome. So my favorite part of the video, Let’s show some games, so you can obviously use whatever streaming platform you want. Uh we’re using here is GeForce now all right.
So let’s load something up. So all right here we go get into it go so you obviously immediately noticed 120 hertz uh refresh screen here. Everything looks really smooth. I mean the keyboard clicks and feels well. I prefer to use a mouse, but if you wanted top for the trackpad, obviously you could and it works pretty well too so ain’t the big knock on cloud gaming, because I think most people can view it as ultimately the future, but are we there yet we’ve Seen some cloud-giving Services get shut down, there can be latency issues, Graphics, issues, sound uh issues with not syncing with the action on the screen.
Those things do still exist, but we’re making the Gap in all those things smaller and smaller and smaller, and the fact that you can get a really close to PC level experience on a Chromebook that costs a fraction of what a gaming computer would cost is absolutely Incredible, it is not going to be a perfect solution for everybody, but for those that have a reliable internet connection, it is an awesome way to go and a really affordable and good looking package.
