Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Watch this before buying the Google Pixel 4 XL”.
Yo, what’s up guys Vic here with another everything technology video, you guys seem to really enjoy the 24 hours later video I did on the Google pixel for Excel. So I’m bring you guys. Another video before the full review so stay tuned for that and if you aren’t already subscribed, be sure to hit the subscribe button and click on that Bell. Icon that way, you’re notified every single time. I drop a new video, so these are for likes and dislikes on the Google pixel for excel.
Let’S get right into this video okay, so we’re gon na start off with likes. So the very first thing that I like on the pixel for excel is facing long, but before I get a little bit more into that, I do got to mention when I first used face unlock. I didn’t like it that much because for some reason it would get stuck and not recognize my face just randomly, but after I went to settings and deleted my face off of it and rescanned it, it worked very fast and smooth being an iPhone user. This is noticeably faster and it always impresses me on how fast a lot to my phone and it can be quite aggravating, sometimes because I’m literally just trying to read my notifications, but luckily in settings you can turn it off to where it doesn’t pass.
A notification screen that way, you’re able to still be your notification straight from the lockscreen and oh yeah. I forgot to mention that face unlock works with your eyes closed, so this could be a security hazard for some people, especially if you don’t trust the people around. You, but you shouldn’t, have people around you that you don’t trust who are gon na, try and lock your phone when you’re sleeping or something like that that shouldn’t be somebody who’s sleeping next to but anyway, hopefully in the future, Google does patch this. I think they did put out a tweet or something like that saying that they’re gon na fix it with the software updates. So they need to do that as soon as possible, because this can be a huge security issue. And the next feature that I really like on the pixel 4 XL is night mode. We know Google has always done really well in this department they’re, the ones who introduced the really fire night mode features and they’ve once again made it even better. Like I put this side-by-side with a pixel 3 XL and it still looks a little bit better than that device, not that it’s a huge difference, but the fact they can still improve in this department is very so.
I went outside the other day in the dark, and I took pictures of my car with these new lights that I got. I just wanted to see. How well is gon na perform and boy was I impressed because physically, as I was looking at my car, I there were certain things I couldn’t see, but once I took the picture and Google processed it and I looked at it, there were certain shadows that I Was able to see that my human eye can even pick up? It was very impressive, it’s kind of like what you get with those full-frame cameras and where you take a picture like f, 1.4 and it looks brighter than your natural vision. It’S very impressive, and I got ta say that Google did a wonderful job once again with the night mode, and the third thing I like on this phone is that 90 Hertz 1440p OLED panel, this display looks extremely smooth.
Navigating through Android 10 looks amazing, but there is one thing that I do got to. Mention is the fact that Google does have it to where it automatically adapts, depending on the application and the setting you’re using it on that. It’S gon na switch between 90 Hertz and 60 yards that way preserves on battery life. But the thing is, a lot of people have found that it was favoring 60 Hertz more than 90 Hertz.
But luckily there is an option on developer settings and where you can have that 90 Hertz display always on, and I did notice a drop down on battery life when I did turn this feature on. But I don’t regret it because that 90 Hertz display looks amazing, and that brings you the last thing that I really like about this phone, which is a softer experience, and that is the reason most people buy the Google pixel lineup of phones, not because they have The best banks, not because of the best looking phones, clearly they’re, not but you’re paying for the software experience. This is what Google Intendant Android to look like and what that said. I am very impressed – and I love how Android 10 performs on here scrolling through applications.
Extremely fluid, especially with that nine merits panel, I really like the fact that they removed the navigation buttons on the very bottom of the phone. It looks super clean and, if you’re an iPhone user, considering trying out an Android phone for the very first time, definitely look into the Google pixel for excel, because this is exactly what Google intended Andrew it to be. Ok, so we’ve talked about all the things I like about this device. Now, let’s talk about all the things that I dislike about the Google pixel for excel.
The very first thing that I dislike you’ve probably heard me mention this on. My previous video you’ve probably also heard a lot of reviewers mention this in its storage, this department sucks on this phone. It’S only available in 64, 128 gigs in 2019, keep in mind that a lot of its competitors are offering like 500 gigs and even up to a terabyte of storage, and what makes it even worse is the fact that they no longer offer full resolution image backups For free so now, you’re forced to pay $ 800 for 64 years of storage and you’re forced to paint like about like three dollars a month for full quality image backups. This is quite disappointing and I got ta say: Google is almost regressing in this department because last year and one of the biggest features that they’re mentioned with the Google pixel 3 and their other Google pixel devices is the fact that you get full resolution image.
Backups and the fact that it’s lacking on this phone that sucks it sucks a lot, and that brings me the next thing that I don’t like about the pixel for Excel, and that is the display, not that I don’t like that. 9 Eretz panel. I love it. It’S super smooth – and I mentioned in multiple videos that I like it, but it’s the fact that it doesn’t get that bright.
I live out here in Georgia, it gets over a hundred Fahrenheit, it gets super hot outside and it gets really bright. So if I’m using my phone outside I’m expecting a really bright panel, so I can be able to see what’s on my screen, but that’s not the case with the pixel for ik, so it definitely struggles outside and it’s very hard to see certain applications, especially those Darker themed applications, but if you’re scrolling through YouTube like something, that’s white themed or your web browser it’s decent, but it’s still not that usable, but hopefully with the next iteration that they put a brighter display on this phone. Now, let’s talk about the third thing, I don’t like about the pixel 4, and that is battery life. When you have this 90 Hertz display fully on all the time it’s gon na suffer on battery life, I’m getting about like 3/4, barely even 4 hours of on screen on a day to day usage and I’m not even that heavy of a user, especially for the Past couple of days, I’ve been using it well liked heavy usage, a lot of content, watches and stuff like that, but yeah when you have that 90 Hertz panel always-on it definitely taxes on the battery life Department.
So if you’re worried about the battery here, you’re gon na probably have to keep that always-on feature awesome. And finally, the last thing that I dislike about the Google pixel for itself. This one was actually very tough to think about. I can only really think of three at first, like I said here for a while to really think about this one.
Well, not for a while, like I it was in the back of my head, but I was maybe this is too basic of like and dislike, and I kinda already mentioned this, but I want to be a little bit more detail and that is pricing and just Recommendation like it’s very hard to recommend this phone for the price tag it starts at $ 800. This is more expensive than the iPhone 11. Very rarely do you see phones more expensive than what Apple’s offering, and this is clearly $ 100 more as a pixel user. If you’re in the ecosystem, then you’re probably going to upgrade to this phone because you’re already invested into that, but if you’re outside of that coming from maybe like a Samsung phone or an iPhone, it’s gon na be a really hard sell. Being that it’s $ 800, especially if the phone that you’re comparing it to is a little bit less with that said, Google is clearly trying to make a statement with this price point, and that is yeah. This is a premium phone and this is the best Android phone out and I kind of disagree with that. I feel like it should have been more affordable. Maybe if it was like six seven hundred dollars, then I can really recommend this phone and I can see a lot of people, I’m leaning towards this phone over some of the other Android phones in the market, but the fact that it’s $ 800 – that’s a little Bit pricey for most people anyway, those are the four things that I liked and disliked on the Google pixel for it. So if we can relate with any of them, let me know down in the comments section stay tuned for the full review by clicking on that subscribe button in that Bell, icon, so that way, you’re notified.
