GoPro Hero 5 Black vs Hero 4 Black

GoPro Hero 5 Black vs Hero 4 Black

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “GoPro Hero 5 Black vs Hero 4 Black”.
Hey, what’s up folks how’s it going. This is waj hope you guys are all doing well. So, over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been testing out the brand new gopro hero 5 black edition, and what i want to do specifically is a comparison between the last generation hero4 black edition, we’re going to basically take a look at the key differences between the New camera versus the older generation camera to see what the key benefits are and to see if it’s worth upgrading to so the first thing that we’re going to talk about is the design. Now the big change on the hero 5 is that it has a built-in waterproof housing. So you don’t need the external housing like on the hero4 cameras.

So that means the hero5 black, as is, can be submerged up to a 10 meters deep and as a standalone camera. It does weigh a little bit more than the standalone hero 4 black about 117 grams versus about 88 grams. But if you put the hero4 black in its housing, it becomes 152 grams, so certainly a lot heavier and a little bit more cumbersome to mount in compact places. Now another big thing about the hero5 black is that you now have the built-in capacitive touchscreen kind of like what you found on the hero4 silver. So really, the new camera is basically a blend between the previous generation, black and silver hero4 cameras.

So you essentially have the same video 4k quality as the hero4 black and we’ll talk about some of the key differences. But you now have the ability to control and view and monitor all your video options with that nice capacitive color touchscreen, which makes navigating and controlling the unit a lot easier than uh dealing with the small, a screen that we had in the hero4 black. On top of that, the microphones have been a greatly improved on the hero5 black, and you have a couple of different microphones placed throughout the unit itself.

It also has advanced noise reduction technology for wind noise and coming right up is a quality, a difference comparison between the two camera microphones. This is an internal microphone recording for the gopro hero 4 black. This is an internal microphone test for the gopro hero.

5. Black edition, another handy and new feature is the new voice control system on the hero 5 black. So you can actually say a couple of different catch phrases so either take a photo or gopro start recording and we’ll actually initiate that action without having to actually touch the camera itself, which is a handy feature and as long as you’re in relatively quiet uh circumstances.

This feature works pretty nicely now in terms of connectivity options. The new hero 5 has a wi-fi like the older generation hero 4 black, but we also now have a built-in gps chip which it can allow for a geo tracking for your photos and videos. A really cool feature that could be a possible firmware update, is overlaid information about speed and distance. So if you’re, snowboarding or cycling uh, the hero5 can actually use the gps information to find out how fast you’re going and where you’re going and everything like that and overlay that information on the video itself.

So that could be a cool update in the future. As we mentioned before, there’s not going to be a real quality difference between going from the hero4 black to the hero5 black, and they both pretty much, can do the same things when it comes to photos and video capabilities. You’Re. Looking at 12 megapixel raw stills, as well as a 4k video at 30, fps uh, slow motion capabilities up to 240 fps at 720p. So that’s all great uh would have been nice to have some sort of quality update on the new camera. But we’ll take a look at a side by side comparison later on. The really only new addition is that we have advanced professional grade built-in stabilization, so it will crop in your video image a little bit and it can be really only utilized at up to quad hd resolution. So no video stabilization in 4k mode, but it’s nice to have it uh, built in especially if you’re going to be capturing stuff by hand or going over rough terrain. That’S definitely nice to have that built-in stabilization. So now, let’s actually take a look at the hero4 versus the five in terms of raw video quality itself. We’Re going to be taking a look at the 4k specifically.

So if there is any difference, you guys will be able to tell uh which camera is best. Most likely they’re very, very similar, so let’s get right into it. So, but, besides all that stuff guys, that’s really it.

I definitely love to hear your thoughts about the new gopro hero 5 black. Are you guys interested in actually upgrading to it uh? Certainly, if you’re coming from hero3, it’s definitely worth the upgrade, i’m not sure about the video quality. There’S not really any major difference between the hero4 black, but it’s definitely nice to have that large capacitive touchscreen at the back nice to have the built-in wireless housing and, of course, some of the other features that we talked about. But really, thank you so much for your support check out the description down below for more information about everything we talked about and we’ll see you later take care. .
