Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Xbox One X vs 4k Gaming PC”.
Hey, what’s up everyone how’s it going! This is waj hope you guys are all doing well, so the xbox one x has been out for a couple of weeks. We’Ve been actually doing a lot of testing on it specifically here we’re going to compare it against a proper gaming pc and that cost around eleven hundred dollars and now uh. Currently, the one x is probably the most powerful home console ever made. It has some very impressive internal specifications, and what we want to do is is see how it compares against a dedicated gaming pc. So i’ve actually built one for the specific video featuring a ryzen 5 1500 x cpu, as well as a vega 64 gpu.
To really see how much we can push the xbox one x compared to a proper 4k high frame rate gaming pc, so if you’re interested in seeing the comparison, let’s get right into it. Firstly, let’s talk about the pc that i built for this comparison, as we mentioned before, it features the amd ryzen 5 1500 x cpu. It has a factory boost clock about 3.7. Gigahertz is a unlocked chip, so you can go 4 gigahertz if you so desire.
We left it to factory settings. This is a four core chip with eight threads, so it’s going to be similar in terms of the apu performance found inside the xbox one x. The gpu is at the rx vega 64.. We’Re going to specifically talk about that in relation to how it compares against the xbox.
Now, since i actually want to make a compact gaming pc to kind of give you the convenience and somewhat portability factor of a console, especially if you’re gon na put it in the living room, i’m actually using one of the first itx am4 boards out there. In the market, which is from biostar, it’s the x370 gtn racing and we’re using the cougar qbx case, this is only 55, but it’s one of the best itx cases around right. Now that you can actually put a standard, atx power supply, so we’re actually using an evga 500 watt non-modular power supply. It’S only around 41 dollars, it’s going to work perfectly fine with our equipment and we’re using a 500 gigabyte ssd as well. So all in all, our pc costs about 1123.97, not including the operating system. So this is the hardware cost of our system.
Now, let’s actually uh break down the differences between the apu, that’s built into the xbox one x, which is a combination of both cpu and gpu, and what the vega 64 has to offer. So you can see from the spec comparison. Essentially, our gpu is twice the performance of the ap built inside the one x in terms of stream processors.
We have about over 4 000 compared to 2560 on our xbox, much higher clock, speed and in terms of the transistor count. It’S almost a double with a 12.5 billion versus 7 billion same thing, with the single precision floating point performance about 12.7 teraflops is the rating of our vega 64 versus about six uh teraflops on the one x. Interestingly, in terms of actual memory capacity, the one x actually has uh 12 gigabytes of vram versus eight gigabytes of dedicated video memory for our graphics card.
But in terms of the bandwidth and overall throughput uh. The vega 64 is absolutely through the roof, because it’s using high bandwidth memory version 2.0 now moving forward. Let’S actually take a look at the side by side at graphical performance. Differences between these two platforms, we’re going to basically max out our pc settings, render at 3840 by 2160 and we’re going to record our 4k footage coming out of the xbox one x.
Using our avermedia internal pci express capture card check out the link in the description for the specific model and the gaming titles that we’re going to be comparing include a call of duty world war ii, the new star wars, battlefront 2, as well as forza, motorsport, 7.. So without any further ado, let’s get right into it. So so now, in terms of the actual graphics comparison side by side, you can see that the 1x is actually doing a great job. There’S a lot of excellent detail, shadow level, the depth in terms of some of those scenes, look just as good as what we’re going to find on a high-end 4k enabled pc. That being said, we don’t have too much control over the picture. Quality options of the internal game assets and we can’t really render out a specific resolution it’s automatically set in both the game and the xbox one’s uh internal settings. So if you do have a 4k tv, you are going to see some a little bit more detail than on a 1080p display now on the pc side, since we have so much control over our picture settings in terms of actual resolution and the internal game assets. You’Re always going to find more detail is specifically at a 4k setting with a powerful, a gpu like the vega 64..
Now it might be a little bit hard to tell due to youtube’s compression, but generally speaking in terms of internal gameplay at 4k resolution you’re going to find minor little details that you’re not going to see on even the xbox one x version and obviously the frame Rate is not going to be as high as a high performance gaming pc as what you would expect. Naturally, but that being said, the xbox one x is coming very, very close, uh, the closest console has ever come to a pc, and the million dollar question is uh. We obviously are comparing the one x, which is a 500 uh console to a 12 or 1100 dollar gaming pc. Can we build a 500 system that competes with the one x and if we were to use something like an rx 580, which is about uh? The same as the apu built inside the xbox one x, i would find that it’d be quite difficult to actually match up a gaming pc with the same specifications for that 500 price range.
In fact, you’re probably looking at around seven to eight hundred dollars minimum to even come close to what the xbox one x is uh bringing to the table. So that’s excellent value from the console standpoint, and certainly the convenience factor and all the uh great features that the one x has that makes it a pretty compelling, buy and internally, it’s definitely more powerful than the uh most powerful version of the playstation and the pro Version so uh, if you’re interested in that video, specifically we’re gon na, have that available check out the description down below for that specific video, if it’s not out already but other than that guys.
