GoPro HERO7 Black- Is it Worth the Upgrade?

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “GoPro HERO7 Black- Is it Worth the Upgrade?”.
Hey, what’s up folks how’s it going! This watch hope you guys are all doing well now, for the past month, I’ve been testing out the new GoPro Hero 7 black and coming from the six black you’re gon na, be hard-pressed to see any real major difference both in terms of the external and internal Features externally, both cameras are identical in terms of design dimensions, so that means that most of your accessories – and indeed the battery, is compatible for the new generation to the previous generation, which is definitely good news. The only real major difference from the sixth of the seven black is that we have a little bit more RAM for the GP one. Chip to use and GoPro has introduced this new stabilization technology called hyper. Smooth stabilisation. We’Re gon na do a side-by-side test to see whether there’s actually a real difference between the two. Besides the GoPro video that you’re gon na see on our website and then we’re gon na do a little bit more of a critical analysis to see whether the hyper smooth stabilization actually does anything different than the standard stabilization. So, if you’re interested, let’s get right into it now, after reviewing the footage, I would conclude that there’s not a major difference from the hyper smooth to the standard stabilization from the go-go six to the seven black.

In most cases, you’re not going to find a major difference unless you’re blowing it up on a large screen and viewing it in 4k. You do find that there’s a little bit less of that wobbling effect that you get on the previous generation and it’s a little bit more smoother, and if you have any sudden movements, it kind of smoothes that stuff out in terms of sharpness and clarity. I don’t really see a major difference between the two cameras, so if you have a six, I want to upgrade to the seven because of higher video quality. That’S certainly not the case here.

Both cameras can do a 4k at 60fps. Now one major caveat to mention is that the hyper smooth stabilization is only available at 4k at 30fps. If you want to shoot 60 P you’re going to use the standard stabilization system, so that kind of defeats, the purpose, if you want to shoot 60 P, all the time which is definitely worth or for an action camera like this in terms of the quad HD And Full HD both are pretty much identical in terms of quality and frame rate settings, so quad HD can go up to 120 frames per second and at 1080p in hand, 240 frames per second for both cameras. Now, additionally, at the 7, black can also livestream to YouTube Facebook and Vimeo via your smartphone’s network connection, as well as there’s some new time-lapse features where L stabilized your time-lapse video.

So look almost like a gimbal and you could do some cool hyper lapse. Photography kind of stuff – I did do some time-lapse photography, but more on a stationary approach. When I went to my trip a couple of weeks back now, another test that I did to take out some of the variables to test out the hyper smooth technology. As I melted the camera on a vibrating back massager and I basically turned on the full vibration and I kind of compared the stabilization off in the standard mode and in the hyper smooth mode you can see.

Obviously, without any stabilization, it looks pretty terrible, very, very shaky, a whole bunch of artifacts going on when we have the standard stabilization mode turned on. You can see. Obviously, it’s greatly reduced there’s a little bit of a zoo, mning effect where the image is being a little cropped off, but not a whole lot. And if we take a look at the standard stabilization mode and compared to the hyper smooth stabilization line.

You’Re gon na see in this test, there’s not really a major difference. I blew this up a couple of times on my large 4k monitor and again I didn’t see a huge difference. Obviously it’s more designed for natural movements. This is a more mechanical, consistent vibration, but really not a huge difference coming from the standard to the hyper smooth in that regard, but as I mentioned before, on our more real-world tests, I did find that in real world action circumstances generally and the hyper smooth gives You a little bit more clarity and reduces vibration a little bit more, that’s something important to know, but at the end of the day I don’t think it’d be worth upgrading to the seven if you’re coming from the six black. If you have any specific questions, let me know: that’s really it for this video and thank you so much for watching. Thanks for your support and I’ll see you real soon take care.
