Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Unboxing Both 14-inch & 16-Inch M1 Pro MacBooks!”.
Hey what’s up folks how’s it going. This watch hope you guys are all doing well and today we’re going to do a very special unboxing of the new generation macbook pros with the m1 pro processors we have both the 14 and 16 inch versions. So we’re going to be doing a dual unboxing to see what comes inside and to do an overall overview of these new generation macbooks. Let’S take a look at what comes inside, which is not much on both, but apple is really simple and straightforward to do an unboxing so we’ll take off this plastic over here flip these guys over or we’ll do it.
It won’t fashion away just lifting the top box up beautiful and there we go so great amount of padding all throughout the size, but super compact. It’S utilizing these flat profile, designs, kind of like the ipad pros and new generation iphones so which one should we take out. First, let’s take out the 16 inch wow super hefty definitely reminds me of the old school kind of first generation, macbook pros really nice logo.
Over there, i don’t know if you can see that we’ll zoom in get a really nice macbook finish, and then you can see that the screws themselves are all exposed. So perhaps there might be some internal expansion available later on. The feet are really nice and flat.
There is that right there we’ll open up the screen in a little bit, but let’s see what comes inside the 16 inch, so we have paperwork there. We go, i think, that’s it. So we have some nice black apple stickers.
This time, and probably just a quick start guide an overview of the new design. Let’S take a look at the cable, really nice braided, usbc, magsafe power cable. So here is the super nice braided, usbc or thunderbolt connection, and then you have the business and that probably connects to the macbook right there and it’s magnetically.
Attaching i’ve always been a really big fan of these, because it’s super quick to engage found in the old school macbooks and i’m really glad that they brought it back and obviously this is pretty universal in terms of charging standards. The cable actually feels extremely uh well made. I’M sure this thing costs an armored leg if you want to actually replace it, so definitely nice that actually has a cable.
Here’S the 140 watt usbc power supply usbc goes right in there and, let’s see if this actually comes out, i’m not too sure. If it does. Yes, it does so you can slide out if this needs to be replaced or uh. You want to extend this and i don’t see an actual um two-prong extension cable for that, but it is possible if you have one laying around or you could probably use really anyone.
That’S a universal connection, but there is. This should be the 100 yeah 140 watt. Usbc power adapter for the 16 inch now coming to the 14 inch pretty much the same back just different proportions. Obviously, so we have the same usbc to bag, safe, charging, cable.
We don’t need to open up that. Let’S see if they give you anything different, probably not yep same black apple stickers, quick, start, guide, safety, warranty information and then here is a smaller either you get a 65 watt or a 90 watt power. Adapter. Let’S see what this one is.
So this one. This is a 67 watt, usbc power adapter, so just as a size comparison here we have the 140 watt power adapter and here’s the 67 watt power adapter. Okay, so now we’re back to the macbook. So let’s do our first impressions and open them up for the first time. They’Ll probably have a little cover over here with the screens check out that backlight and they’ll turn on automatically for you, which is pretty cool, and initially you can see that we have our larger speakers on the a 16 inch. We have a massive track pad.
That looks absolutely insane and pretty much the same keyboard configuration on both, which is definitely a plus, but we still have speakers on the side on the 14 inch and i’ll show you the front of the displays as well. Okay, so here are the macbooks dead on i’ve done the initial setup and i have to say the displays look, absolutely insane in person on both macbooks. I think if you had either one you’d be extremely satisfied. Let me give you some brief specifications on the displays themselves.
In terms of size, the 14 inch is actually 14.2 inches, diagonally speaking and you’re. Looking at 16.2 inches diagonally on the 16 inch resolution on the 14 inch is 3024 by 1964 versus you’re. Looking at 3456 by 22, 34 pixels, both are rated at a thousand nits for typical screen brightness and a maximum rating of over 16 000 nits for peak brightness. So they’re going to be really really great for outdoor usage as well. The ports and connectivity options are actually quite interesting. They’Re the same on 14 and 16 inch models. So on the left side you have the magsafe connector. You have two usb c connections or thunderbolts four connections, as well as a headphone jack.
On the right hand, side you have a full-size hdmi connection, a thunderbolt 4 connection, as well as a full-size sd card reader. So in terms of the configuration that we have specifically for the 14 inch, we have the m1 pro processor, that’s a 8 core cpu and 14 core base model, gpu configuration 16 gigabytes of ram as well as 512 gigabytes of solid state storage. The 16 inch is also powered by the m1 pro 10 core cpu 16 core gpu.
We have a 16 gigabytes of ram as well, and one terabyte of solid state storage. Now, throughout the next couple days, we’re going to be doing a lot of testing with both these two, including comparing the 13-inch m1 macbook pro to the new 14-inch, to see what the differences are. We’Re also going to be taking a look at the 14-inch and seeing how it compares against the microsoft surface laptop studio and we’re going to be taking a look at the performance of the 16 inch.
