Cyberpunk 2077 — GTX 1070 vs RTX 2070 — How Do They Compare?

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Cyberpunk 2077 — GTX 1070 vs RTX 2070 — How Do They Compare?”.
Hello and welcome to tech deals. Cyberpunk 2077 1440p high detail, preset no dlss, no ray tracing just the normal performance. You’D expect from 1440p high on an rtx 2070 non-super important detail on my i9 10 900k test bench 32 gigs of ram, and this is being captured and recorded using an external hardware capture card on a second pc, not shadow play. No performance is being lost due to the recording itself. The only thing running is msi, afterburner and, of course, the game itself. Now i recently did a test using a gtx 1070 at 1440p high detail and it was playable, but not great. I’M actually going to show you a small snippet of that here in just a second and i’m going to show you both numbers in the chart at the end of this video.

If you just want to see the numbers well, you can see the scroll bar on youtube, just grab it over and take it somewhere near the end of the video and you’ll find the chart. If you are interested spoiler alert, the rtx 2070 is not capable of playing cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p high detail with ray tracing off. It is, however, pretty close. We are currently achieving in this particular scene. Nearly 60 frames per second there’s 57 there’s 58 and the average that is running at the moment is 49.. If you look in the upper left-hand corner of the screen, you’ll see three white numbers beneath the various stats of the hardware. We’Re running the leftmost number is the real-time performance, meaning that’s like the to the second to the minute right this moment, that is the frame rate that we are getting. The middle white number is the rolling average from when i started the benchmark until now. That’S the rolling average and, of course, it’s going to update slowly over time, but when you’ve been playing for a while, it doesn’t update too much even when it bounces around a lot. It takes a lot of movement to get that average to move the right.

Most number is the rolling one percent low so right now, what that indicates is that 99 of the time we are getting at least 40 frames per second with an average of 49.. Now, let me be absolutely clear: this is totally playable. There is nothing about this. That is bad, stuttery, slow unresponsive. Could you play cyberpunk 2077 on this configuration? Yes, you could, would it be playable? Yes, it would be. It’S not perfect, it does have some hitches. It does have a few places where it’s not the best, but it’s not bad, and it is playable part of the reason for that is. We do in fact, have a modern, great cpu.

If you put the same graphics card on an fx 8300 or an i5 90 46 90k even overclocked, then you would definitely get a lot of stutters because you wouldn’t have enough cpu power to keep up with the graphics card. You don’t need a 9900k to do this. Frankly, an i7 8700k would do it at this frame rate in this configuration with this graphics card. Not if you had a 3090 but for a 2070 it’s certainly not a bad situation.

You could also use a ryzen 5. 3600 3600x or a ryzen 5 5600x, and it would be pretty good overall. It would, however, be using all of the cpu, because we’re currently at about 30 usage on a 10 core 20 thread chip, so take away 40 of the cores and you’re certainly going to be using everything that your cpu has. But it does work for the moment in any case, jumping ahead a bit. This is a different section where i was fighting inside, of a building with more enemies going on there, i’m using contagion, which, frankly, is a way overpowered ability playing this game as a net hacker is probably the easiest way to do it, if not the most fun. There can definitely be boring points where you’re like wait for contingent to recharge use. It hide wait for it to recharge use, it hide ping breach, it gets repetitive, it works, but it does get a little bit. Repetitive. Excuse me, hello, and are you going there? You go boom that looked expensive. This is side by side driving footage with the 2070 on the left and the 1080 on the right.

Cyberpunk 2077 — GTX 1070 vs RTX 2070 — How Do They Compare?

There’S about a 20 frame per second difference between these two, maybe only 15 frames at different times. The 2070 is definitely an upgrade. It’S just not an uber epic massive upgrade compared to say the 1070 over the preceding 970, which i did about a month ago on this channel, although that was its 1080p low detail and it was pretty brutal. That card has no place in cyberpunk.

Frankly, i think both of these cards are a little bit rough at 1440p. I would like to remind all of you that the 2070 is less than three years old and for a supposed 1440p card, it sure didn’t last very long at 1440p, and this is not ultra there’s no ray tracing, but there’s also no dlss. If you did turn on dlss, but leverage tracing off performance would certainly improve at the cost of a little bit more blurriness and a lack of some sharp edges, depending upon which dlss setting you use all things considered.

This might just be cyberpunk as much as it is anything else, and i understand that there’s that complaint on some of these tests, but but tech, these other games run great. Why are you testing cyberpunk? Well, if it runs cyberpunk, it probably runs anything and, of course, future games will be coming out that are more like this and less like. Shall we say, two-year-old games, like shadow of the tomb raider, actually make that more like two and a half years old, but uh who’s counting for half a year.

Many many games run great on these cards, but over the next two years. That’S certainly going to be a challenge and they’re going to fall off a little bit here is the benchmark chart and i added the 1070 numbers, so you could more directly compare them here. 34 versus 49.. Neither are 60 frames per second, but thanks to our excellent cpu and well, the fact of the matter is, they were fairly smooth overall.

Both were very, very playable, 27 and 37 were the one percent lows and the one percent lows were closer than the average frame rates, which probably matters for our for the feeling of performance, more than the actual average frame rate does. If you want to play at 1440p high detail with ray tracing and dlss off, allow me to introduce you to the 3070 and the 3070 will do it, although if you have a new rtx card, don’t you want ray tracing, i’m going to show that to you Here at some point, probably with ray tracing on, let me know in the comment section below: if you want the 30 70 tested ray tracing on or retracing off, i would love to hear what you have to say.
