Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The XFX 6800XT MERC 319 Is Freaking HUGE!”.
There have been a lot of really big video cards over time, but i honestly think that this card from xfx is going to be one of the biggest that we’re ever going to see. Now this is the brand new xfx speedster merc 319., we’re talking a 6800 xt with all the bells and whistles, that’s almost as big as a friggin bus. Let’S talk tech. I mean this thing is huge even compared to a standard size, basketball, the box actually freaking dwarfs the basketball. It’S that big.
I mean this is probably one of the biggest, if not the biggest box, i’ve ever seen for a video card ever it’s just humongous, even compared to like some of the older cards that xfx has had. This car is just one big beefy, mother of a card. It’S just that big got ta iterate, it’s big! We get that right. Everybody know. What’S up now, it’s big, so this is like.
I said one can’t resist big card. Did i say it 10 times yet so check it out, though this thing has three fans mounted on the top you’ll see that the two outer fans are actually a little bit larger than the center fan, and actually the shroud actually continues a little bit past. The actual board itself – this is kind of getting to be kind of a common thing. We’Re seeing this quite a bit in designs where the shroud and the fans actually extend past. The card itself probably adds a little bit to the dimensions of the cooling and everything, but the cards color scheme and everything is really nice.
It’S very basic. We still got that same silver kind of black look. I mean it’s really cool and you know, underneath the hood we’ve got 4608 cuda cores. We’Ve got 16 gigabytes of gddr6 memory, 256 bit memory bust.
I mean this card is just decked out now: they’re recommending a minimum of a 750 watt power supply for this bad boy. Just because of you know how giant it is, but xfx actually has two other cards as well, and they actually both require a 750 watt. Minimum you know power supply. So, even though this card is the big brother to these that’s kind of crazy, now you’re going to also notice that this card is thick, and this is probably a continuation of the thick series of cards.
Since i haven’t actually heard of xfx releasing any new thick cards, this is probably the replacement series for the thick series, but this is a three slot design card that is almost 13 inches long. I mean this thing is just a gigantor of a card now on the rear. I o, you guys, can see it’s pretty much. The same thing we’re seeing a lot. We’Ve got two hdmi ports, we’ve got two of the display ports and then we’ve got a single usbc connection. So now, on the back of the card, you’re also going to notice that it’s got a very, very nice back plate on it and you’ve got the giant merc written across the back of the card um.
I really love killer back plates. You guys know that i’m actually a big fan of a nice back plate um. It’S kind of strange, though, that we’re seeing like on the nvidia side of things we’re not seeing a back plate, we’re just seeing a fan in the front, a fan, the back well, but this card, it’s still the straight-up design. You’Ve got the three fans on top standard. You know, output for your monitors and all that kind of stuff and you’ve got the back plate and you’ve got the merc.
Now, as far as what comes in the box with this particular card, it’s pretty basic. You get the card itself, you get the user’s manual, you get a cable, and that’s really all you get inside of the box now also check this out. Here’S a previous generation, you know three fan card from xfx and look how much smaller it actually is than this new speedster merc 319. I mean it’s just it says towers over that card. Now this may become a problem for some people in their systems, who don’t have a 13 to 14 inch clearance.
You know so, if you’ve got a smaller case, you might really want to make sure before you buy this particular bad boy, that it’ll actually fit inside of your case, plus, being that it’s a three slot card, it’s going to be taking up a lot of space Inside of your system, it just is there’s going to be a lot of space inside there. Now these cards should come to market at around. I don’t know under 800, i’m thinking they’re going to be around 749 there’s no actual pricing right now. I can’t bring you guys the full review until the 25th, so people out there going.
Where are your reviews, though rick? Well, the aftermarket cards are on the 25th on the morning. The 25th i’ll have this review up for you guys to check out and then we’ll. Actually really see how the 6800 xt does against its competition in the nvidia campground. Now i’ve seen some people’s videos out there who say.
Oh we’re, really disappointed other people, saying, oh my god, it’s revenge day, i’m not going to listen to that really stuff. Until i see my test results, you know from our test bed and then i can tell you guys exactly how i feel and where you know, i think that card actually fits into the market and that’s coming up. You know really soon, but right now i don’t think that really anybody has their hands on this particular card at least not too many people. The speedster merc 319 is really a brand new product. I got ta tell you guys, um. A lot of people complained about my video that i made the other day about saying that it was a launch fail, saying you know that, oh you know, of course, amd wishes. They had more cards. Well, i i’m not disagreeing with that fact that amd wishes they had more cards on launch, they probably did.
But the fact is, though, is that when all of those cards do sell out, you can’t say that that’s you know a total fail for them. When they sell out, i mean hey, it’s supply and demand. They provide this. They provide the supply. You demand it. You take it, that’s it so for them, it’s not a bad thing but, like i said this card is going to be probably one of the biggest cards you’re ever going to see on the market. It’S a really really nice. Looking card, it’s heavyweight, it’s heavy duty.
I mean it feels like if you slap one of your enemies with it upside your head, you’d, probably get an attempted murder charge with a deadly weapon, a deadly 6800 xt by xfx. This speaks to 319..
