Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The Invisible Smart Lock”.

I even had a pan in my house that requires software updates and servers at that point. I realized that not everything needs to be made smart, but there are some that I think do matter. I’Ve got a lot in my house. I’Ve got security, cameras, thermostat and solar panels, but perhaps what’s most important is what protects my door. So this is the level lock and it’s a smart, lock but kind of, unlike any other smart lock, we’ve seen and we’ve seen smart locks for years in various formats. Usually they’re big bulky boxes that sit on one side of your door where their accessories that kind of go on top of existing locks and they all work to varying degrees. There, sometimes the fundamental problems with it and to me the biggest one, has been aesthetics. I don’t always want a big giant box sitting on my door. I don’t want a case on top of my existing lock that can fall off, but levels done, and the execution is something that I’ve never seen before. If you look at your existing lock on your door, you probably have a bolt and a key and it’s a tried-and-true format. That’S worked for for ages, so what I was doing is taking that exact same hardware that you’ve got and it’s replacing the bolt inside so that everything you need is already on your door so to the outside world, doesn’t look like a smart, lock and they’ve done. It in a really ingenious way the battery are actually inside of the bolt itself.
That’S the only parts that you have to replace. You have to worry about replacing four or five double-a batteries on there or holding a 9-volt up to the bottom to make it work. This is a really elegant way to make all of this work. You think about the engineering you know: they’ve got the motor and the battery all in something, that’s small and I think the best part is it’s not going to take away from the aesthetics that you already have on your house.
So the installation process here is super simple and fun fact about me. I used to install cloth displays at Home Depot and Lowe’s the summer before I went to college, but you don’t need that level of lock knowledge to get this working so because it’s smart loss. You can pretty much put this on any door that has a deadbolt. I opted for my garage, that’s the door that we use the most the cool thing about it again.
It works with your existing lock. So all you do. Is you open your door? You take out the two screws that are on the strike plate. You can pull out your lock slide in level. Put the two pieces back together and you’re done.
You can have this installed with no experience at all in less than 10 minutes and levels got videos on their site that walk you through it and when you download the app on iOS or Android they’re, step-by-step instructions that make it really simple and really easy to Do so looking at something? That’S that’s small you’re, still getting all the benefits of a smart, lock and you’re getting the Bluetooth connectivity you’re, getting an app that lets. You control the lock remotely. It’S got home kit support built in so when you drive towards your house and you pass a geofence area.
Go off will unlock for you. It’S got smart lock. So when you walk away, it’ll set itself to lock automatically there’s new features coming where, if you don’t have home kit, it’ll still use a geofencing to unlock for you, everything you’d expect from a smart lock. You have here with level just in a package. That’S totally invisible to the eye, so I think for a lot of people. The question is like: why would I even want a smart lock in my house, my normal locks been working fine. I opted for one for convenience, sort of the reason that I do a lot of smart home things. Is it a way that can sort of make my life easier in one way or another, and it has before you know this whole situation that we’re in there was a lot of people that were coming in and out of my house, my wife and I kind Of plunked ourselves right in between where my parents live and her parents live, so her folks are coming over all the time my parents are coming over all the time we still had Lucy we had dog walkers sort of come over, so it gives me ease of Use to make sure they don’t have to have you know it’s key to my home, but they could have access to it. I could share it key with them and make sure that would work. There’S somebody coming over to to get a dog or even drop off groceries. I can give to sort of temporary access, and I think, what’s important for me for peace of mind – is having kids Coons have kids that leave doors unlock now, so you don’t want to leave a door unlocked in my house, the smart lock on it. Love like it’s open the app and see like okay, my garage door is unlocked and I can lock it directly from the app that peace of mind has made it worth it for me.
So a sign of the times it’s kind of coming online is in home delivery. Even when you’re not home, I’m not sure how you feel about somebody coming in your house, even if they’re wearing cameras, but it is a thing that’s happening.
