Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Rivian R2 Revealed: What we know!”.

Actually is it’s fast. It’S capable it’s pretty luxurious, but it’s also on the expensive side, which means it is not accessible for a lot of people.

We got word, though, that ravina is going to fix that and they’ve dropped little nuggets of details on what’s coming next from the company. Let me tell you everything: you need to know about the r2 platform. So a few weeks ago rivian had their q2 earnings call where they talked about money and the state of the company, and we learned a metric, a ton from this call. So first there are 98 000 orders for the r1t and r1s and they are full steam ahead on trying to build those, and just so you’re aware as you go through the rest of the video, the r1 in the r1t and r1s stands for vivian’s first. So it’s ruvien’s first truck and rivian’s first suv. They also mentioned a new project appropriately called r2, and this is the new platform for review. That’S going to give way to more affordable vehicles which obviously be a lot more accessible. Here’S what we absolutely know so first, even though it’s cr2, it’s not a replacement for the r1t or r1s, but i’m sure rivien’s working on the second gen of those the r2 is meant to slot beneath the higher end truck and suv.

Also the r2. It’S a platform: it’s not a single car, the platform that can be applied to a bunch of different models like the r1 t and the r1s are based on the r1 platform uh. More importantly, this will likely keep the rivian brand dna like the the rivianness.

The essence of it, so my guess, is still going to be an adventure vehicle platform at heart. I’M not expecting a sports car here or anything like that, uh, instead, a more compact and affordable suv and truck and to keep the price down. I’M expecting this platform to ditch the quad and motor configuration that we’ve got on the truck and the suv.

Instead, i’m assuming it either use a dual motor or a tri-motor configuration now. It won’t be quite as capable uh as the quad system, especially off-road, but it will reduce overall cost. I think that’s the big goal here, um, so a lot of that’s what we know and some speculation.

We don’t know what these cars are. Obviously, going to look like it was my guess, i’d say we get a crossover type suv that competes with cars like the model y, the 4runner ford explorer even on the larger side, and you also will get pickup trucks they’re going to repeat with the tacoma frontier Ranger, maybe even the maverick so while the other wild card is whether the r2 platform be used for upcoming. I don’t know what to call up: let’s call it a rivien, jeep, wrangler uh there’s been speculation about this car for a long time and the ceo of rivien was asked about it. R.J garange uh. He almost confirmed it from his surprise reaction.

Did i tell you about that, so it seems this is coming so before we learned about the r2, the thought was, this would be a variant of the r1 platform, but a wrangler type suv is much smaller than the r1s. So i guess the r2 platform makes more sense there. So when are we gon na see all of this uh, so rj said back in 2019, the rivien would have at least six vehicles ready by 2025., obviously world’s changed a lot since then supply chains included.

But if that original plan still holds true, that would include the r1t, r1s and amazon man, so with the r2 platform coming. That leaves three new cars. So, according to rivian, this new platform and cars and trucks come along with it i’ll be built at a new facility in georgia in about 2025 and so about three-ish years away, sounds like a long time. That’S not too bad in order to hit that time frame. Obviously, rivien’s got ta start working on this. What’S more, i guess kind of worrying is whether we’re going to be able to stay on track.

Of course, in the last few years, like i talked about, the world economy has been, is not great. It’S also possible. I’M going to come up, throw this plan off course like supply chain stuff, but at least this is a plan that rubian’s been working towards. So as much as i love to drive my rivien, i don’t always have time to go. The places that i want and the place that i always have to go because i like to stay alive, is a grocery store and that’s where factor comes into play. So there are a lot of options. I think when it comes to meal delivery services, but there aren’t that many that take lifestyle seriously, whether you are keto or vegan, looking for something that could fit into a fitness lifestyle factor has your back for whatever type of meal you are looking for. There is literally no prep and no mess, they are taking all the stressful parts out of meal planning and extensive prepping, so meals come together in minutes.

Personally, in my house, we’ve got three kids. We don’t have a lot of time to prep meals and get things running and be able to have all of that work done in other feeding. Our kids healthy food uh is sort of an awesome addition to have also factors supporting wholesome eating. They’Ve made that process, which is generally complicated and expensive, pretty simple.

So that’s what we know about the r2 platform. There’S, of course, a lot that we don’t know and a lot of things from the r1t and r1s.

I would love to see come to these cars so first. For me, the rivian reliability has been absolutely awesome. Obviously, i’ve only had my car for a few months, but i’ve done long road trips in this thing and i’ve been incredibly impressed with its capability and the build quality and fit and finish of the truck.

So i hope that stays and i think rivien has learned a lot from tesla. In fact, riven wouldn’t be here without tesla in the early days of tesla, when we had the model x and model s much like review, and now a lot of attention was spent to customer experience and build quality of the cars and as tesla shifted and the Model 3 came online. The model y came online. Some of those objectives changed with it. I think that’s that’s natural. My hope is that rivien can learn some of the growing pains that tesla went through and maybe avoid some of those themselves. Maybe more emphasis on customer experience, as they start hitting critical mass and more emphasis on keeping that build quality that early customers have come to expect. So at least that’s my hope, as riven tends to sort of keep growing and eventually gets these cars on the road. Other things, i hope make their way there, especially on the truck side, i’ll, be the gear tunnel. I love that thing.

Irrationally use it as a step for storage as a hiding place for my kids. I absolutely love that thing. The performance of the car, the range of these trucks has been awesome. I hope all of those things can make their way down to cars, built on the r2 platform. Aside from selling a lot of cars, riven’s got a lot of reasons to want to get this r2 platform out and a big one.

Is this new eevee tax credit rule? It actually excludes all current rivians uh for the moment the credits top out at a vehicle price of eighty thousand dollars and if you order an r1t or r1s right now, it’s above that and for vivian. That means you can’t buy any of their cars and qualify, which is a real, huge bummer for a lot of first-time buyers, but this more affordable platform you’ll absolutely qualify as an incentive. In fact, rj said that was an objective with this platform.

On the other hand, there are quite a few things i think rivia needs to work on before we get to that more mass consumer car, the biggest, i think, is going to be charging infrastructure. So if, at this point it’s been maybe like a month, ravine officially switched on their first fast charging stations uh in colorado and california, and it seems to be a really good implementation. But they also included a stall for sort of pulling towing trailers which a lot of rivens are doing they’re, just small touches and thoughtful, and they make sense for rivien. They understood the assignment. I also got to use a ribbon destination charger when i was on a trip to yosemite, and that was awesome to have. They were free, like anything you plug in, and that was it. It just started charging they were slow. I believe 6.6 kilowatts, but if you’re in the park for a day, you come back, hopefully get close to a full charge. But i do think for rivien to have a shot at competing and being around for a while. They can’t rely on chargepoint to be reliable or on evgo or the other networks to work.

They have to sort of take control of that on their own. I think getting this adventure network out in more stalls and more places as quickly as possible, be a huge step for that. Another issue that needs to be worked out in time is going to be the software experience now. Don’T interpret that as the software experience is bad at all, i’m actually been incredibly impressed about the software experience in the rivian everything they included in there works well and works fast, but they don’t have everything in there, especially when it comes to the app. So, for example, i can’t stop or start charging from the app. Sometimes i can turn conditioning on.

Sometimes i can’t, but then i can’t control a temperature even when it gets to be turned on i’d, expect those features to be added over time. I think ravine was very cautious about not trying to do everything end up doing nothing well. Instead, they try to take the approach of let’s put in what we know, works and add to it later and i’ve seen things improve. I’Ve seen the rear view. Camera look like a potato cam, that’s something slightly better than a potato. Can uh i’ve seen dog mode added when the delivery of my truck, i didn’t have the ability to control my garage door from it.

I now have that, of course, that’s the beauty of these platforms that are online enabled software updates. So i do expect a lot of things to get better, so i know riven’s working on all of these things, but when the r2 platform hits and there are more of their cars and trucks on the road, my hope is that they continue to innovate in software. Continue to push new features, don’t just take a few steps backwards, and, while those are things, rivian themselves need to work on another thing: they need to pay attention to – at least i think, is competition. We are in full swing of ev development from pretty much every company and it’s not slowing down 2025 is a long ways away. Considering today you could buy model y onik5, ev6, machi and a bunch more.

I think rivien is going to have to focus on the just a rivien experience for this r2 platform to try to make it really unique. I am a believer in what rivien is making. I didn’t buy the r1t out of any obligation, but because i was so impressed with what they pulled off and i want to have that experience for myself uh.

So the idea that the ribbon experience will be brought to more people, i think, is really exciting. I just hope they do it well. Do it on time hope they can deliver experience similar to r1t and are what s owners have had and if they can, i think the future is really bright for the company. .
