DIY Hacks & How To's: Swiss Army Key Ring

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “DIY Hacks & How To’s: Swiss Army Key Ring”.
Most people have to keep track of at least a few keys. The easiest way to do this is to just keep them all on one keyring, but the more keys that you have, the more they fan out and the more inconvenient it is to carry around in your pocket. Here’S an alternate way of holding it organizing your keys, the design is really similar to that of a Swiss Army knife. Each key can be rotated into the handle for compact storage and rotated back out for use. So here’s how you can make your own Swiss Army keyring.

These are the basic materials that you’ll need for this kind of project start by rounding off the ends of both pieces of wood, then trace the shape of the cut pieces onto the sheet mode and using a pair of tin, snips, cut them out a little bit. Smaller than the outline stack all four pieces together and using a 3/16 drill bit drill two holes about two and three-quarter inches apart then remove the metal pieces andrey drill, the holes in the wood so that they’re wide enough to accommodate for the head of the screw And a lock nut insert a number 8 machine screw through one of the holes in the metal plate. Now add half your keys, spacing them out with a washer on each side you should be able to fit four keys and five washers on a three-quarter inch screw. Do the same for the second screw? If you have an odd number of keys, you can fill in the space by adding another two washers when you’re done, adding keys and washers fit on the second piece of sheet metal and tighten everything together with two lock nuts.

Next apply a thin layer of glue to the outside of each plate and press on the wooden panels, use binder clamps to hold everything in place, while the glue dries to give everything a more finished. Look, I also applied a layer of stain and then polyurethane. This design saves space in two ways. First, the keys are all mounted parallel to each other and don’t fan out. Secondly, the double folding design allows for the blades of both sets of keys to all fit within the space of the handle. This design is also a better way of organizing keys, because the keys are O’s in the same orientation. It’S faster and easier to find the keys that you need well thanks for watching and check back next week for more projects.
