DIY Hacks & How To's: Multi-Book Storage Container

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “DIY Hacks & How To’s: Multi-Book Storage Container”.
The secret book compartment project is a classic spy hack. You can find variations of it all over the internet on make magazines youtube channel alone. You can learn how to make four different versions of this project. You can make a plain book compartment, a wireless listening device, a wireless, two-way communicator and even a housing for your portable electronics. This is a fun hack, but most versions of this project have one big limitation. You can only store objects that are smaller than your book. Fortunately, you can get around this problem by combining multiple books together to make one large multi-book secret compartment. Here’S a quick guide on how to make one first decide on what kind of object you want to hide then find a bunch of books that are larger than that object. I like using hardback reference books, but any book can work. A good source for cheap books is a community book sale. A lot of public libraries have these at least once a year.

You can find pretty much any kind of book for next to nothing and it supports the public library. Once you have your books start by marking an outline of the secret compartment with either pencil or tape, then take it out to the shop to cut it. There are a number of tools that you could use to cut the books, but i recommend using a power, saw with a fine tooth blade such as a band saw or a scroll saw, be sure to leave at least two books unaltered to cover up each end Of the secret compartment after cutting the books, if you want, you can glue them all together to make them easier to work with, but that’s entirely optional, once you’re finished just place the books on the shelf and you’re ready to hide your larger secret stuff. Thanks for watching and check back next week for more fun projects, you .
