Reproduction of Early Mechanical Computer: The Digi Comp II

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Reproduction of Early Mechanical Computer: The Digi Comp II”.
This is a replica of the 1965 educational digital binary computer called the digicom2, and it’s capable of multiplying, adding subtracting, dividing, counting, calculating the two’s complement and clearing its registers. The most interesting one to us is all the people who come up and tell us that they had a digicomp one in the 1960s and they wanted to get a digicomp too, but by the time they wanted to get one. It was out of production. This is great, you know, 45, 50 years later, they’re gon na be able to finally maybe get their hands on one. It uses um some wooden walls and some marbles to roll down. In our case, we’ve scaled it up and we’ve used billiard balls, specifically eight balls for the medium we wanted to make something that was larger than the marble.

So we thought what else would we use? We came across the idea of using pool balls, which is a large recognizable shape. You know when parents see them, they know exactly what these things weigh, how careful they need to be with their kids around them and so on. You .
