Caribbean Mardi Gras Costumes: Detroit's Trinidadian Transplant

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Caribbean Mardi Gras Costumes: Detroit’s Trinidadian Transplant”.
The only species in michigan that does this type of work. Well, i went to the virgin islands to play soccer for his oil refinery and from there i went to the bahamas to play soccer and also i was doing a show for the tourist convention born in the bahamas and while i was doing the show, i met A young lady in the lobby of a hotel, which is my ex today and um. That’S how i end up in detroit the story of my life, design, studio, science, studio right for the caribbean, festivals and parades. Actually i came from trinidad and i grew up with a kind of uh and as a kid i had always loved shapes and colors, and i continued doing it as i get older. These are some of my couple pieces.

This is actually a headdress, and this is based on the aztecs right, yeah and uh. This is uh like a breastplate here which, like you, could see it’s based on the sea right, there’s the sea shells and most of the time it’s freehand, i i wouldn’t even sketch it. I just go with the flow. This is like a necklace yeah. What happened? These are pieces from an old costume that i stripped down and it was so pretty to throw away. I said you know what i’m just going to decorate my wall with it.

Well, actually, that’s free-handed with a plasma machine. This is uh napkin holders. I get the idea on paper, sometimes if i feel like playing with people, but i’m more like a free hunt, kind of guy yeah. This is a hammerhead shark, i’m working on it’s a headpiece, it’s a hairdresser. Once this fence should be all potted and comfortable to wear.

Then you have the sword fish there yeah. I get a lot of fun and the enjoyment. Once i see my work and people having fun yeah, yeah .
