Making Clothing Percussive: VJacket

Making Clothing Percussive: VJacket

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Making Clothing Percussive: VJacket”.
I started with the drum pants, which are you know, pants that you can hit and make drum sounds with. I have a lot of nervous energy, sometimes so i’ll just be like drumming on my clothes, and a lot of my friends would do that a lot. My friends are musicians, so we would always just be like drumming around on our pants and it’s like well. Why? Why not just have real drum sounds, and then you know the next progression was.

Let’S make it do. Video, too, you know, and so video ed, sound and added some more types of sensors, some bend, sensors and other kinds of sensors. Besides just the percussive ones. My name is tyler freeman or vj oddball brought here the the v jacket paired with a connect and what we’re doing with it is uh controlling the visuals and sound just by like hitting your jacket or sliding on parts of it um you can assign, like any Kind of message you want to any uh sensor on the jacket and send it to any program that you use like sound programs or vga programs, even uh text editors. So you can like control a text editor with the jacket in some kind of weird convoluted way. Like write, generative poetry by you know, hitting parts of your jacket or something what uh, what i’m trying to do is kind of combine music with video and performance and technology and kind of have them all come together and also kind of spread.

The word about that and get more people into it, making their own instruments making their own controllers. You know coming up with their own like ways of performing you. .
