DIY Hacks & How To's: Haunted TV

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “DIY Hacks & How To’s: Haunted TV”.
Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s time to start building projects to scare and prank your friends, i decided to start off this year by making a haunted television with it. You’Ll be able to make your tv emits strange and creepy noises, even when it’s turned off to accomplish this effect. We’Re going to be using a pair of walkie-talkies, one of them will be hidden inside the tv and the other will be used to transmit your voice and sound effects before you do anything remember to unplug the tv we don’t want anybody to die while building this Project start by opening up the housing of the tv and taking a look inside, try to find areas near the speakers where you can hide the walkie-talkie. This will make it seem as though the sounds are coming from the tv itself.

You could just hide the walkie-talkie and be done, but this has one major problem. The short battery life will severely limit how long you can make this prank work to solve this. I designed a simple 9 volt power supply that runs off the tvs, ac power line.

With this power supply, you can run the receiver indefinitely. Here’S how to make it first. You need an old ac power, adapter, that’s rated for 9 volts or higher. Then you need to make a simple voltage regulator circuit.

This is the same basic circuit that i used in my project on how to convert battery-powered devices to run on ac power. So if you’d, like a more in-depth discussion of the circuit, you can follow the link in the description box in order to connect the power supply to the walkie-talkie. I added a 9-volt battery connector to the output. When doing this, you need to remember to solder the black wire to the positive output and the red wire to the negative output.

This is the opposite of the normal convention, but it’s necessary to match up with the appropriate connectors on the walkie-talkie. Now that you have a 9-volt adapter, you need a way to get power to it. The easiest way to do this is to add an ac plug to the tv’s power cord inside the housing. To do this, cut the power cord somewhere inside the housing on each side, separate the wires and strip the insulation off each end, then take a second power cord and cut off the female end again separate the wires and strip the insulation off the ends. Take one side of each cord and twist the ends together with a twist on wire connector do this for both sides. This will have reconnected the tv’s power cord with an extra female plug that can be used to power, your walkie talkie’s new power supply. Now all you have to do is insert the parts into the housing of the tv and close it back up. If you find that there isn’t quite enough space to fit your walkie-talkie, you can make it a little bit smaller by taking it apart after removing the housing, the internal part should only take up about half as much space as the whole walkie-talkie. However, if you remove the housing, you probably want to wrap the circuit board and any exposed metal contacts with tape. This will help to avoid shorting either the tv or the walkie-talkie now you’re, ready to make your tv appear to be haunted.
