Raspberry Pi MAKE: Off – Update 2

Raspberry Pi MAKE: Off - Update 2

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Raspberry Pi MAKE: Off – Update 2”.
It’S saturday afternoon at engadget expand we’re going to do another update with our teams at the raspberry pi makeoff they’ve been working like crazy all day long and the ideas are starting to come together. So, let’s grab andrew over here – hey andrew, come over here for a second good. So tell us how astronaut team astronaut mike dexter is doing we’re doing pretty good we’re, making progress um, i’m doing the switch interface and we just got our d-bounce circuit working and thanks to uh folks at sparkfun. Just crossover.

You know we’re scrounging components from all over. I’M using uh leds as diodes, you know just really just scrapping anything we can get together and just make it getting it to work and we’re so far we’re successful so and you think you’ll be able to show something tomorrow afternoon. At this rate, i think i’m feeling pretty confident right. I think we’re gon na definitely have something and what’s been the biggest challenge, just the uncertainty, just like you know, can we do it? Yes, then, just like getting past that hurdle, like that’s when you’re making anything. That’S like the biggest thing it’s just like. How can i do it? You know is this gon na work.

Whatever best thing to do is just get your hands dirty get in there ask people who are like you know, given the resources and just you know absorb it, be a sponge soak it up. That’S great! Well, i’ll! Let you get back to it and i’ll jump over and talk to the other team. Thanks.

Good luck, all right, john! Let’S john, can we get an update on how uh the dog holler is going what’s going on here? We’Re, let’s see if it works, which way he’s on hey carlin. You want to try locating me so so tell us what’s going on here. This is supposed to be a project. It’S a it’s a child locator! You can’t find your kids anywhere in this convention hall. You will have a an app on the phone you hit, it it’ll work so right now we think we got the transmitters pair and receiver pair working see how he sends it and then it activates the switch, and it goes on so theoretically, lots of lights and You’Ll find your kid, so you have a servo just pushing a push button switch here, yeah because we didn’t we’re kind of lacking in our research resources. So this car got gutted and uh.

We couldn’t really get activation, servo directly to drive the led, because the servo has a lot of jitter, it’s a digital servo, so we couldn’t quite filter the signal we didn’t have any controller, so the easiest way is just go: take it out mechanically and then run A separate isolator system, so that’s why there’s two sets of battery pack on this. You got the the center, the c cells and then the nine volt, and then we made our little thing and we couldn’t really stitch since we didn’t have anything. So he was stitching with paperclip all right and i guess we’ll build whole thing out of duct tape for now.

So it’s a huge challenge to make something here at engadget expand. They do have a lot of components here, but they are scrounging for other stuff from the sparkfun booth from the booths all around here, but they’re making projects work, which is actually really pretty incredible. We’Ll have another update for you tomorrow, bye .
