Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “littleBits Arduino Module Unveiled”.
Hi everybody from makercon, i’m here with paul rothman from littlebits who is showing us uh the a new product uh. What’S it called so this is the littlebits arduino module. It’S a part of the uh, the arduino at heart program, um that they announced at last year’s bay area maker faire. So we have been working on it, the last couple of months and so we’re going to be announcing it at the maker faire bay area this year. So i presume this is how someone can get some programmability into their littlebits projects yeah absolutely so.
This is the actual, the first time that we have a programmable littlebits module and it’s something that our community has been asking for for a while. That’S something that we’ve been really interested in in providing um. But we wanted to do it kind of in a right way and so partnering with arduino seemed like the most logical thing to do in terms of programmable uh programmability. You know everybody knows the the platform everybody loves arduino, so to have the ease of use on the software side of things with arduino and then adding the kind of the simplicity of snapping together modules with uh with the the arduino module um. It seemed like a great fit, so you know we’re really excited to be able to get people that maybe weren’t uh into arduino and microcontroller programming in involved in a really kind of quick and easy sort of way. The ide can be used, as is, and most of the sketches and things that are available for the arduino community at large will work fine with this board. A user would just need to configure a sketch, that’s out in the world to use the pins that we selected for the for the board. So with the board, you have three inputs.
One of them is a digital input, which is the also the rx serial input line, there’s two analog inputs so a0 and a1, and then we have three outputs, one of them being d1, which is the tx line. So with tx and rx you could conceivably have digital communication over serial in and out of the board, and so on top of that we have two pwm outputs, so that allows you to do sort of the analog input, analog output, kind of projects. So when is it going to be available and how much will it cost so we’re going to be uh having it for sale for the first time this weekend, at maker faire, so it’ll be for sale at the fair and then also online and the module itself Will uh sell for 36 dollars and then we have the starter bundle, which is the module power battery um, a bunch of other uh modules that you need to get going working with the different sketches that were that we’re linking to and that’ll be 89 all right.
Well, so come to maker faire this weekend and check it out. .
