Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Jimmy DiResta at the Bandsaw”.
My name is jimmy deresta. I live here in manhattan. My project here at maker faire, is bandsaw demonstration, i’m just showing people how things were made before computers, people to this really funny. I have the logo for shopbot on here, and a lot of people say is that a shopbot and then usually everybody around says it’s the original shopify. So it’s a funny reaction when people realize that it’s actually an old tool, it looks modern because of the coloring, but people are real curious they’ve, never really seen one up close, at least the young families and the young kids. Today, here at maker faire, i’m asking people to challenge me so when people walk up, i say what do you want me to make and if they give me just a one or two words, it gets me going. Actually somebody somebody suggested. I try to make a soccer ball, so what i ended up doing was, i cut a a long piece out of that and then i sliced it up like a sausage and i glued it together and i ended up with a dodecahedron and that’s basically a soccer Ball, but if it was filled with there, it would be round for me, being at maker. Faire is great because i get to see little kids interest peak when they see either the bandsaw or the robots, and i remember my own development when these things began to interest me, and i really as a kid.
I really remember that moment in time when i began to become interested in these things, and so it’s really nice to see kids and be able to inspire them and influence them to like these machines and these processes. Foreign, not that i really needed that hey .
