MAKE @ Engadget Expand 2014: Easy Aerial

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “MAKE @ Engadget Expand 2014: Easy Aerial”.
Hey guys, so i want to thank the judges, and i want to thank all of you for being here for this presentation. My name is yvonne stomatovsky and i’m the founder of easy aerial, which is a company. I basically started by crowdfunding this, my first quadcopter on kickstarter a couple of months ago. It’S a very unique design in two ways. You know, and i want to show you uh right here – uh, it’s a detachable command unit that can actually be paired with any number of frames like this uh. It’S all carbon fiber by the way, and also these frames are, you know, come apart, so you have single arms that they consist of that you can really easily transport with you wherever you go so uh.

You know this is. This is something that i successfully funded a kickstarter and uh. You know the production is in order, uh, it’s a very unique design that i came up with, because there was nothing on the market that you know really had. You know was fulfilling all my uh aerial video needs, so i added a lot of features that i needed in there like a embedded video link like telemetry, uh, overlay, uh and so on and uh there’s, actually a lot of different features that i want to talk About you know how this this you know make this distinctly different than other drones in the market, but i feel uh that i really need to use this opportunity to talk about uh, something that’s really important and that’s uh. You know there are some really responsible people out there flying drones and you’ve heard all the negative coverage of drones and the media lately, and i just want to take this opportunity to remind you of all of the good uses for drones.

You know how they’re being deployed nowadays in the world to make uh. You know to change things and make things better, so the police are using them for to fight crimes. You have firefighters using them to fight wildfires and not put people in danger. You have people protecting wildlife from poachers and so on, there’s so many things that you can do with this technology. That is really really good, and you know for the good of humanity.

Now the higher calling of easy aerial. When i started the company was really to promote and facilitate uh responsible use of unmanned aerial vehicles for the greater good. So now that being said, uh i want to go into all the different cool features of these, a drone that make it unique. So i made it really easy for everyone to uh, remember and understand uh, it’s a you know, i’m going to count up from zero to eight uh, so with zero we have uh that it has zero wires. There’S nothing uh, there’s no wires to connect.

It’S just parts that come together like legos and there’s also zero tools that you need to assemble the easy drone number one. We have this one command unit that can be combined with any number of different combinations of motors and props, so you can carry different weights and it can fulfill different needs. It has two ports. This is something that i found really important for me as a videographer.

So you can plug in your video camera into it. It will power the camera and give you video feedback down to her and it will power the gimbal and you have the ability to control the camera pitch from the same remote that you’re using to fly. There is a drone: it has three different uh wireless frequencies that it uses to communicate with the base, so one is for your remote. One is a different frequency for your video, downlink and uh. The third uh is your telemetry frequency, where that gives you all the data about the flight, the position of the drone and so on. So this is very useful um, it has, you know the frame comes together. This is a patented design uh. It comes together from four arms and it forms you know what i named a self-supporting carbon fiber frame, so it doesn’t need the center stage or anything like that. It just makes uh. You know the forearms form uh, basically, the whole frame, uh. Sorry, the other way. Uh, it outputs five volts.

So this is something really important like uh, you know we all had these situations where uh we’re filming something and the battery dies. This actually powers your gopro camera on it. So you never run out of battery.

You can always get that shot, because that’s all that matters uh, there’s six flying modes that you can easily switch through uh while flying from the same remote. So you can go from uh flying in a normal mode to a simple mode to uh, just by flip of a switch. Tell it to go in a large circle, keeping your subject in uh always in frame or you can switch to full auto and just let it execute a predetermined mission. So it has full autonomous capability. Uh number seven. It takes seven happy birthdays to put it together from uh the case to the air so and in adult time, units that’s about under a minute um and the whole thing actually, together with the case, weighs uh about eight pounds, uh, which is uh pretty light. So these things uh can carry a camera, they can also carry all kinds of different payloads and there is a quick snap-on mechanism for anything that you want to put on there and fly.

So i hope you guys, like this presentation and i hope uh, that you’ll be flying visit drones soon. Thank you. Thank you very much. .
