HP Sprout Partners With Dremel

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “HP Sprout Partners With Dremel”.
I’M nathan hurst i’m here at makercon with eric monseff of hp, sprout uh eric. Would you tell me what your role is? I lead a team at hp, called immersive systems and we’ve just launched a revolution. Our new platform called sprout by hp and it enables creativity in 2d and 3d, so you came here to makercon with another announcement. Could you tell me about that? Yeah we’re announcing a partnership with dremel.

We think consumers wanted the ability to go to a store and buy a single solution, and we thought that dremel was a great fit so now, today a customer can go to a store, buy an end-to-end solution. They can actually scan something on sprout. Take it home print, it print it on their dremel and get something like this tell me about this.

What is this? This is actually a 4-up scan of my daughter, so i took i took my daughter into the garage and i did a face scan on my sprout brought it into mesh mixer, which is a tool from autodesk and uh. Did a four up mirror did two plane cuts, dropped it on dremel’s platform and hit the hit the build button, so you’re quite a maker yourself. What else have you uh? What else have you made recently um? I make a lot of things at home. I make furniture i’m into bicycles. I have an electric bike that you may have seen earlier today and uh. What’S. Why was it important for you to work with dremel on this? We felt that dremel was a great fit for hp. They have a respected brand.

They have a great presence, they’re well respected by the maker community, which is something that we felt was very important, that people thought they had a device that they could trust place, faith in and just like the hp brand. I think it’s a very nice match between us too, and how is this uh important for makers? Well, we wanted to start with kind of the proofs in the pudding, so we actually evaluated a number of printers and i myself i mean i’ve been using one at home for many months and we wanted something that was reliable. We thought makers wanted to have something that was, you know, allow them to realize their ideas in an instant, and i understand you have uh, you have something to show at maker faire as well. Could you tell me about that? We do uh continuously developing applications.

Sprout is a platform where new apps will show up and on our marketplace and we’re launching a new app in the coming weeks that we’ll be premiering at the maker faire this weekend and it’s a stop-motion application. We think that sprout is the perfect platform for stop-motion because of its down-facing cameras and the ability to look at both a visual image and a digital image simultaneously, and it enables people to make stop-motion animation immediately. Well, thank you for bringing it to makercon and maker faire i’ll look forward to seeing how it works. Thank you very much. .
