Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Swap-O-Rama-Rama Clothing Exchange”.
My name is erin scholl, i’m from oakland california, and i’m here running swapo ramarama at maker faire 2015. taparamarama started about 11 years ago in manhattan. Wendy tremaine is our founder. She decided she wanted to detach acquiring new clothing from spending money financially a bit.
So she started her clothing swap there, and then she found none of the clothes people brought fit her very well. So she added some sewing machines for people to be able to take things in or fix little tears, and then it grew into an international clothing swap with over 150 swaparama ramas happening annually from california to istanbul and everywhere in between swappa ramarama has been with the Bay area maker faire for 10 years – this is year 10 and we’re so happy to be celebrating 10 years with maker faire. Eva eule of loose thread is on our fabulous trading card for maker faire this year and we love coming back because maker faire is a place where people are inspired to be themselves and if that’s not something you can buy in a store, then they make it Happen themselves, they create it, and we love that that inspirational uniqueness of spirit, and so we like to provide the tools for people to create whatever they want for themselves.
