Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Introducing the GoPiGo Robot Kit”.
Hey there tyler weingarten here and today we are taking a look at a new robot kit called gopi. Go from dexter industries like it says the name gopi go is powered by the raspberry pi single board computer. Before we get into the features, let’s go ahead and get this robot built: [ Applause, ], [ Applause, ], [ Applause, ], [, Applause, ]. The assembly of this robot took a little over an hour, but don’t worry the instructions on the website made everything really clear and easy to follow. Now that it’s all together, let’s see what it can do, the gopi go is controlled completely through your computer.
You just connect your computer to the wi-fi network created by gopi. Go and you’ll be able to drive it directly using your keyboard, but wait a second here. We’Re building a robot here, not an rc car from the gopi go hub, you’ll, be able to program your robot using a block based code interface. If you’re new to programming, don’t worry, there’s plenty of helpful tutorials here to help you, through the basics, all the way up through using advanced sensors and logic paths.
For starters, let’s take a look at how to make it move in a simple square path: we’re going to have it drive forward for one second turn: 90 degrees drive forward turn again and keep doing that until we get back to where we started. Here’S what that code looks like and here’s how it works. There’S plenty of add-on parts for your gopi go, adding additional sensors motors, even the ability to turn it into a balance.
