Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The Yeti Portable CNC Router”.
Yeah uh hi, my name is ed and i’m part of the yeti tool. Team and we’ve come to make a fair with this, which is uh. This is a large format, portable cnc machine, which typically you know you find in a factory for 10 000 pounds it’d, be very, very heavy and kind of inaccessible that size um, and so my buddy ian thought about. Well, we can redesign all of that so that you can have that technology in your garage and this is it so you can break it down. It’S super light. It’S about a third, the cost. It’S it’s about! 4. 000 euros. A special show price here: 3. 000 euros for the makers, so it’s massively cheaper and, and you can break it down and put it in the van.
So you can go. Take your big projects out into site and actually go make it on the site, but the size capability of the machine. Is it can do a full building sheet material, which is typically 2.4 meters by 1.2 meters? So we designed the whole thing around its capability to do that.
This is for the maker with a small garage that wants to use a large format, cnc routing, but just doesn’t have the space like previously. It’S you know, that’s impossible. You can’t fit in a small garage so because it’s now lightweight etcetera, we thought well. We can easily work it on the on the wall, so we’ve designed it so that you can work on the wall which solves that whole big cnc problem.
But then, if you’re on site and you’re doing a project in a big room or out the field, then you can use it in standard bench orientation which honestly is a bit more comfortable. You know you can work on it doing other things with it. So we want to make this accessible to as many people as possible, and so it being safe is absolutely key um. So and if, if it passes ce requirements, then it means that schools can start using this technology as well.
So yeah we’ve got in the stop bars and we’ve got in emergency stops. We’Ve got hard limits, which is which basically mean that anybody can use it in any environment. That’S our goal is to get this technology out to as many people as possible. Taking out the van and putting it on site takes as long as you’ve got to walk it there, and then it takes five minutes to connect the pieces together and then it’s into you’re into pushing on the console which we’ve tried to make like a smartphone.
You know app structure which everybody’s familiar with now and try to make it as easy as possible to go. Make amazing things. That’S it okay, um.
So one of the things that we found with cnc is that it naturally starts off quite complex um. There’S a lot of uh knowledge, that’s needed with cnc, and we tried to take all that and throw it out and just start again: everybody’s used to using uh apps on their phone. And so we tried to make the whole console just like using your phone and there’s no reason why it can’t be that easy.
It’S just it’s! It feels like it’s been 20 years behind and we’re just upgrading that. So when you see this app structure, there are literally different apps which can guide you through different jobs, which means that when you’re using a machine, you don’t actually need a computer, you can do these apps.
