Rotocasting with a photo resin twist #3dprinting

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Rotocasting with a photo resin twist #3dprinting”.
All right, i thought i knew what this was, but it looks a little different than i expected tell me: what are we looking at and well first off? Who are you and what are we looking at? I am charles lowry. The inventor of photon cast photon cast bolt-on cast, is a 3d resin curing system it takes instead of making each part individually, like you normally would with a 3d printer yeah, you can make dozens even hundreds of parts simultaneously with this system. Yeah. Okay, so like when i was walking by, i thought it was just a roto caster, but now that i’m closer, i see it’s. It’S got a twist to it.

Rotocasting with a photo resin twist #3dprinting

Yeah, it’s got quite the twist yeah, so real quick for people who don’t even know what roto casting is just like super quick explain what roto casting is roto casting is taking a hot melted plastic into a steel mold and rotating it, so it uniformly coats. The inside of the steel mold yeah, okay and then you cool the steel mold and you take the part out okay. So what is this thing then? Well, this thing takes the best advantages of 3d printing and combines it with the roto casting technique. So, instead of making a thousand little parts like you know, like these kinds of pieces, yeah, you can make one mold or five or ten, and you make the mold in your 3d printer and you use a translucent plastic, put a little mold release on there. A quick spray fill the mold with uv resin clamp it down, put it in the machine, and the machine uses uv lamps to cure the uv resin inside the mold throughout the entire density of the uv resin. Simultaneously, do so the the the translucent 3d prints allow enough of the uv through to cure all of the resin inside there yeah.

That is wild. You can even see with the covers when i hit this and you look at the mold. You can see still see through the mold yeah, absolutely that is getting all the way through, even with the covers on now with these covers off it’s a hundred times more powerful. So, what’s the advantage uh of using uv resin versus like an epoxy or something like that huge advantages? There are so many different types of uv resins. Nowadays, there’s high temperature, 300 degrees celsius, uv resins, there’s different types of flexible resins, there’s optically, optically, pure clear resin and so many other types sure carbon fiber, infused, resin brass resin abs, like there are dozens of different types of resins all right. So, let’s, let’s get to the important part, if somebody’s watching this – and they wanted to learn more about this project. Where could they learn more www.fulltimecast.com? All right, i’m going to put it on the screen right here. Photon cast, that’s really cool uh! That’S that’s! Really interesting! Man thanks for telling us about it. Thank you appreciate your time. The interview you just saw took place at midwest reprap festival in goshen indiana, going on back.

There be sure to check at our members area at make.co, there’s actually a full tour of the event uploaded there. You .
