The ALL-ASUS RTX 3080 TUF Gaming PC Build

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The ALL-ASUS RTX 3080 TUF Gaming PC Build”.
Oh boy, today’s gon na be fun. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first official rtx 3080 build on the channel today we’re going to be building an all asus, tough gaming, pc and setup featuring none other than the new asus tough gaming, rtx 3080. Oh yeah! Let’S do it, the processor we are going with for this pc is the ryzen 7 3700x eight core 16 thread processor, which is currently still the best value eight core processor in the market. You get the most bang for your buck with this processor compared to the 3800x or the 3800xt.

Now we’re going to pop this into an x570 board to take advantage of pci gen4 speeds so to also stay consistent with the theme of the build we’re going to be going with the asus tough x570 plus. This board also has some really nice features like 2m.2 slots bluetooth and wi-fi support with three rgb headers. To hook up all your juicy rgb parts.

This build will also be future-proof by the way since amd’s new 4000 processors will still work on x570 and b550 boards. So the option to upgrade is definitely there for memory. We are going with two 16 gigabyte kits for a total of 32 gigs of ram running at 3 200 megahertz. I opted for the zx sticks, in particular because of compatibility, and it’s going to match the color scheme of the build nicely with the aluminum heatsink. Also it’s compatible with asus rsync. So we can easily sync up all the lights together.

Once we’re done now to take advantage of pci gen4 speeds, i decided to go with the corsair mp600. Once again, it’s a two terabyte m.2 ssd with ludicrous, read and write speeds on pci gen 4.. Pushing the pixels for this build is none other than the rtx 3080 graphics card from asus and since we’re doing an all tough build we’re going with the tough series. This is also the overclocked version, so it comes out of the box with a higher boost clock up to 1815 megahertz. The tough rtx 30 series have also been stripped down and built back up to provide more robust power and cooling. They have a new metal shroud that houses three axle-tech fans that utilize durable, dual ball fan, bearings and actually the center fan has a reverse rotation to reduce turbulence. The card also has independent heat sinks for the gpu and memory to keep thermals under tight control. About 15 percent, more heat dissipation area than the last generation rod strix cards to be exact. In short, there’s a lot of improvements on the new asus, tough 30 series, graphics cards compared to their last generation models, and we’ll talk more about that. When we get into the benchmarks. This card will be available for purchase around september 24th and it will retail starting at 7 29.99, while the non-overclock version will go on sale around the 17th and will start at 699.99. Cool in the cpu is the rog strix lc 360 aio.

Now i opted for this one for two reasons: one the tough series cooler didn’t look too appealing to me and two: they didn’t offer a 360 millimeter variant, so i made the exception to go with the strix cooler. I sincerely apologize if anyone’s lcd was hurt by this selfish decision. So with this configuration a 750 watt power supply is recommended, but i went with an extra 100 watt just for some extra leg room for future expandability and overclocking as well. The color scheme of the build is going to be mostly black, with some minor gray accents to kind of match the tough aesthetic from asus. And that is why i decided to throw in some gunmetal gray and carbon to the color pattern of the cable mod cables and it’s going to look immaculate once the build is done. And finally, the case for the build is none other than the asus tough gaming. Gt501 full tower case solid metal construction all around with a tempered side panel and four included 120 millimeter fans. We got three rgb ones for intake in the front and a single 120 millimeter fan in the back for exhaust. I also like the straps they added to the top of the case for mobility. I don’t really transport pcs at all, but from a pc, builder’s perspective.

These are really useful, since i can use them to move the pc around as i’m building inside all right. So that’s all the parts we’ll be using for the build – let’s start stuff in the case, with the parts that sounded way better in my head, all right guys. So the build is finally done and i got ta say i’m pretty impressed with the performance of the asus tough rtx 3080.. Not only did i benchmark the card, but i also ran the same benchmarks on the rtx 2080 and the 2080ti founders edition card.

Just so, we can see the performance differences on these cards now before we jump into the benchmarks. Let’S take a closer look at the pc itself. First off it was really easy to build. In this massive case, there was lots of support for cable management and lots of room for activities. In fact, there was so much space left in there that i decided to cover up those empty ssd slots with triple half a terabyte ssds with it. I feel, like the build, looks more full. In my opinion. I also put the cooler on the top.

Instead of the front that way, the gpu gets fresh air from the three intake fans in the front and because of that, the gpu didn’t pass 67 degrees celsius. Even under full load during the entire time, i was benchmarking it and speaking of benchmarks. Let’S start off with heaven the rtx 3080 right at the top, with a solid 98 fps lead compared to the rtx 2080 in 1080p, and about 37 fps ahead of the 2080 ti. That gap remains consistent throughout the higher resolutions, as well, with the 3080 being about 23 faster than the 2080 ti and 4k resolution and 46 faster than the 2080.

moving on the gta 5. We can see some bottlenecking in 1080p and 1440p between the 3080 and 2080 ti. However, that cap is lifted when playing in 4k resolution, making it 3080 only 16 faster than the 2080 ti and a whopping 43 percent against the rtx 2080. rainbow.

Six siege also experienced slight bottlenecking in 1080p gaming across all three cards, but the gap widens as we go higher on the resolution with a 13 performance gain against the 2080 ti and 4k resolution and 33 against the rtx 2080.. I also tested out tom clancy’s the division, and over here there was no cpu cap present the 3080 once again in the lead, with an average of 43 fps over a 2080 ti and 75 fps from the 2080., it seems like nvidia’s claims are not quite true In doubling the performance of the 2080, but it sure, as hell got pretty close here now, let’s take a look at dlss performance in minecraft with rtx on and the lss off. We can see some playable frames in 1080p across all the cards, but the performance takes a substantial hit. As we increase the resolution, however, enabling dlss we can see some nice performance improvements across all three cards. The rtx 3080 still remains in the lead, with a 22 gap between the 2080 ti and a 38 against the 2080 in 1080p gaming. However, i think it’s worth pointing out that the biggest performance gains came from the rtx 3080 in both 1440p and 4k resolution.

Taking a look at the total frames across all the cards, we can see that the gap is much smaller on the 1080p benchmarks due to the cpu capping on a few games. The rtx 3080 is only about eight percent faster than the 2080 ti and 19 faster than the 2080 when it comes to 1080p gaming, where the rtx 3080 really shines is in 1440p and 4k gaming, since higher resolutions are more gpu bound in 1440p, the rtx 3080 Is about 12 faster than the 2080 ti and 26 faster than the 2080 and for 4k gaming? The rtx 3080 is about 17 faster than the 2080ti and a whopping 39 faster than the 2080.. Now, at this point, i’m sure you guys have realized that the rtx 3080 is a 1440p or 4k resolution focused graphics card.

The ALL-ASUS RTX 3080 TUF Gaming PC Build

No one should be buying this card for 1080p gaming. You won’t be getting the most value out of it, which brings me to the cost per frame. Currently, the rtx 3080 offers the most bang for your buck in 1440p and 4k gaming compared to the 2080ti and 2080..

The ALL-ASUS RTX 3080 TUF Gaming PC Build

Keep in mind that the tough rtx 3080 starts at 729.99, which is 30 more than the founders edition. No one is obviously going to buy the rtx 2080 ti at full retail price of 1200. Let’S be realistic here so just for fun, let’s say the prices of the rtx 2080 ti drop down to, i don’t know 500 just for fun and let’s see if it’s still worth picking up. If that’s the case, then the 2080 ti will have the best value compared to the other cards, with a value of two dollars and sixty cents per frame on 1440p and four dollars and 23 cents on 4k. So the million dollar question is: should you upgrade your current gpu right, i’m sure that’s what you’re asking right now um based on the benchmarks, i’ve shown you in this article, along with everyone else’s benchmarks out there. It’S no surprise that the rtx 3080 is a nice upgrade from the rtx 2080, but should you upgrade is going to rely on a few factors? The first question is: what is the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor? Are you still rocking a 1080p 60 hertz monitor for your setup and you have no plans on upgrading anytime soon? If the answer is yes, then clearly you’re not ready for the rtx 3080..

I would recommend at least a 1440p monitor at 144hz for freshway to take advantage of this card’s performance. Number two: is your system ready for the upgrade? Do you have at least a 700 watt power supply and a cpu sufficient enough, not to experience any bottlenecking? I would recommend the very minimum at least a ryzen 5 3600 and even then that’s pushing it. You guys i wouldn’t recommend going anything lower than that, so ryzen 5, 3600 or something equivalent on the intel side, because remember this card is designed for high resolution gaming.

So it’s going to take most of the strain off the cpu when you’re gaming at 1440p or even 4k resolution. However, with that said, my personal opinion is to wait for the rtx 3070 to arrive as well as aim these new gpus. That way, you can kind of decide what you want to do once everything is out there in the open and laid out in front of you, you would have a much better selection to choose from instead of getting hyped and buying something and possibly regretting it later Down the line, that’s just my two cents. I want to thank asus for sponsoring this video and sending out all the parts to make this video happen. In fact, i’ll be giving away all the peripherals you see here.

The keyboard mouse, mousepad, headset and even the monitor will be given out to one lucky subscriber in the us. So if you want to enter for a chance to win the asus tough gaming gear, then all you got ta do is leave a comment below with any type of feedback.
