Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Do You REALLY Need a Pro iPhone 14?”.
What’S going on guys, the driver consumer and today we’re going to be comparing the new iPhone 14 plus versus the 14 pro Max now, the iPhone 14 plus is the newest iPhone to come out. So, of course, I had to give you guys my thoughts on it, but this has been a video. I’Ve been wanting to do for a while, which is comparing the standard iPhones to the Pro Models and seeing, if it’s worth paying the extra money for the Pro Models. If you’re just you know the average consumer, but before we get started, we got to give a huge shout out to today’s sponsor Amazon. Now I know a lot of you have seen my kitchen in previous videos and we try our best to keep it clean, but sometimes my little guy Austin has different plans around meal time and that’s all right.
It’S a part of growing up and honestly, it’s low-key a little funny. Sometimes thankfully we don’t stress about that too much with the iRobot Roomba j7 and our Echo devices, like the echo dot 3rd gen. Now we all know that robot vacuums have come a long way, but the Roomba has iRobot genius, which creates personalized cleaning suggestions and can even be controlled by the echo Dot and I’ve got the Roomba program to clean the kitchen. Every day, at 7, 30 pm Austin’s bedtime and knowing that we’re not going to need to spend time cleaning up after he’s done, it allows us to be in the moment and stress-free, especially during meal times.
So we can cherish these moments a bit more. Since we know he won’t be a baby forever and we love having this as a fallback, because we can just call out and say, tell Roomba to vacuum the playroom or whatever room, has the mess and boom. If handled. So we love that this is one of the appliances that can be controlled by Alexa and the echo dot with a simple voice command.
And let me tell you it helps a ton, since we usually have our hands full with Austin. So, if you’re interested in having these kind of capabilities in your home definitely check the links Down Below in the description now when you’re, comparing the standard models versus the Pro Models, they have a very similar design. But there are a few physical attributes that are a bit different now, both phones feature glass backs, but you’ll notice on the standard models. If the glossy Finish versus this matte, like finish on the pros when it comes to just kind of holding them in the hand, I find that the standard ones are a little bit easier to hold, even though it’s just glossy there’s a bit more friction when it’s In the hand you guys can see, it doesn’t really move that much, but with the pros, it’s a little bit more slippery in the hand, but you’ll notice. The frame of the phones are a bit different where the pros have like this stainless steel, very shiny. Any look to them helps it look really premium, also quite a bit of a fingerprint magnet, while the regular models have like the standard. Aluminum feel no fingerprints there, but still this does look far more premium. Now, with the standard models you get about.
Five vibrant color options, whereas with the Pro Models you get about four, pretty muted but very classy, looking colors. Now with these being the big boys of the line, they both feature a 6.7 inch display. One main difference is the camera cutouts AKA Notch? This one has a built-in Notch at the very top where it’s a part of the bezel, whereas this one is separated from the bezel and you’ve got this Dynamic Island. Now, that’s one of the biggest selling points of the Pro Models this year. Besides, like the camera, this Dynamic island has software features that you can interact with having different notifications pop up, seeing the status of different applications while you’re doing something else completely is definitely a nice touch.
Is it enough to say that you need to get the pro model over the standard? I don’t quite think so, but it absolutely is a nice addition. Now, when it comes to these big models, you’re of course paying for the bigger screen as well, has a bigger battery. Now, that’s like one of the biggest selling points of these bigger, iPhones and apple claims that the iPhone 14 plus provides the best battery ever on an iPhone. So we’ll talk about the battery life and the difference between the two a little bit later on. But first let’s talk about the screen and we’re not even going to do the whole nerdy thing, we’ll just talk straight up about the differences now for the screen, we’re going to jump into probably what’s the most important aspect of it for everyday people and that’s the Screen brightness this one gets substantially brighter based on the numbers, but let’s actually take a look at them in person right.
So when we’ve got them with maxed out screen brightness, I don’t know if you guys can tell on camera, but these look pretty similar, even though this has about 200 nits more brightness. But I have found that the Pro Models do get really bright indoors and Outdoors. They get even brighter with a Max 2000 nits of brightness.
So if you do happen to use your phone Outdoors a lot that extra brightness might be really useful Outdoors, so you can, you know, see this in this Sun. So definitely some brightness advantages here but, like I said you can definitely get along with what this guy offers now. Another big difference here is what they call the pro motion display: how do we not get nerdy with promotion display so with each phone the screens run at different? You know what there might be an even less nerdy explanation for the benefit of the promotion display.
So, with each phone the screens run at different refresh rates. Basically what that means is they have different levels of smoothness to them. So, while you’re navigating through this one might feel like a more fluid experience versus this, if you’re watching content or playing games, the screen can adapt to that and potentially save you some battery, whereas this it’s pretty locked in, so the phone won’t be able to adapt To the content that you’re watching and save battery, it is what it is. It’S going to keep at a steady level and you’re gon na get that consistent battery usage here, whereas this one it can adapt to what you’re doing on the phone. And that’s where you save some battery now, when you’re, comparing this Dynamic Island versus the notch, when you’re consuming content, whether it’s a video or gaming, I feel like you get used to both. I do find that the dynamic Island might be a little bit more intrusive than the notch, but it’s not really a big deal. I don’t see that as something someone would complain about after purchasing it. Now we do got to talk about the chips inside of these guys, that’s powering it.
This is running Apple’s new a16 bionic, while this one is using the a15, but this is the a15 from last year’s Pro Models, but when it comes to the difference between the two, this is obviously going to be better. But it’s not going to be this huge leap of performance from the 15 to the 16 that everyday people are going to notice. Now the physical side of things there’s a surprising difference between the two of these and that’s the weight. The pro Max feels a lot more weighty than the plus does, which is surprising because they’re both big phones, but you can instantly tell the difference when you’re weighing them both in your hands Jay.
Try It Out, Try It Out. So that’s the pro Max right there right plus. Oh this feel like a toy yeah yeah, try it that’s the pro Max yeah and that’s the plus oh yeah, but that’s pretty different yeah. You feel that right, remember that camera yeah yeah, that’s true, which brings us to our next point, which is a good segue into the cameras, now be on the screen and a processor where you’ll see the biggest difference between these two phones is absolutely going to be. The cameras, so what are the actual differences and benefits of something like the pro model right? Well, when it comes to the standard lens, I’m talking about the lens that you use as soon as you open up the camera app with that lens honestly, you’re gon na get a very similar experience between the two phones. Now this thing does have a 48 megapixel lens instead of a12, and you can tap into that with the raw option, with your camera and when you’re, using the raw option and you’re, comparing it to the standard photos out of here. You’Ll notice that you’re going to get a lot more detail and you get room to edit photos you get more dynamic range now. Is that something that most people are going to try and use? I don’t think so from camera open to shutter press. These are going to be pretty similar unless you really want to tap in with, like the raw side of things.
Now, where you really start to see a difference is going to be with the ultra wide lens, if you’re just trying to get more things into your photo, that’s going to be your option, but there’s a big difference in quality between these two. This one is just a better lens: it has better low light performance if you’re taking pictures outdoors with the Sun out chances are you’re gon na get great shots from both, but if you have anything but the perfect conditions, you’re going to really start to see. This thing shine – and this is that area where you can just kind of look at the photo or video that you take with it and instantly tell that this is just a much better option and, of course, this thing does have that telephoto lens something that is Not even an option here, so if you want to take photos from things that aren’t very close to you, you want to zoom in you’re, going to always get better quality here, and even the front-facing cameras are exactly the same.
So your selfie game will not get improved over here. You got the same deal and on the video side of things, they’re both going to do really well, they have access to all of the same video features like action mode, cinematic mode and just like the standard stuff, so you’ll still be able to do all of The same things between the two with video, where you’re definitely going to get better quality, because you have better lenses on the pro model. You’Ll still be able to pull off what you need to with this guy unless you’re using that ultrawide. That’S probably where you’ll suffer.
The most, but just like with the main camera lens, you can still feel pretty confident that both of these are going to deliver some pretty solid video. So when it comes to these two phones for the average consumer, someone in my mind who is not going to do any photo editing or you know, video, editing or anything in post-production. I feel like they’ll get by just fine with these. The photos that you get out of just the standard 14 model looks really really good. That main lens is no slouch, and even though this is 12 megapixels versus 48 over here, it’s been 12 megapixels. For like years and everyone’s always said that the iPhone takes great photos, so you don’t need to get lost in the numbers and hear that 48 is like four times better than this.
It’S not four times better quality or anything. That’S not how megapixels work, but if you want the latest and greatest and you want access to features that you could potentially use in the future, then go for this, but I don’t think you need it. This is also really solid, all right guys, so I spent a lot of time with both of these devices. Let’S try spending the day with both and using them as, like my main phone for a while and here’s what I got to say about the battery life.
Now, with this guy, you check out the marketing and it is supposed to be the best battery life that you can get on an iPhone and while I kind of believe it, I don’t think for a user like me that it works out like that. I found that I was getting honestly pretty much the same battery life as I get with my iPhone 14 pro Max, because I spend so much time playing games consuming media. I think the promotion display definitely helped to kind of even things out a bit. So for me very similar battery life with screen on time being around the five hour mark. So for you, depending on your usage and how you use the phones, one might be better than the other. If you’re big on media consumption, though this is probably the way to go now overall, do you need the pro model? Is this going to be the absolute best experience and you’ve got to have it? Here’S how I think of it.
Here’S here’s an analogy that I think makes a lot of sense. You can kind of compare these in the way you would a Toyota to a Lexus they’re, both the same parent company, the same makers, but one is a more luxury brand and while we all know Toyotas they’re, pretty reliable, you can count on a Toyota to give You a pretty good experience, lasts you a long time, but there are just some bells and whistles that the Lexus has that you won’t get with a regular Toyota. But you know that they’re both going to be a very solid experience, that’s kind of how you can look at these two very solid, Dependable experience here, but you get a little bit more with this guy. Well, you need all of the features that depends on what you want to use them for, but I think for the average person you get along fine just with this, but that about wraps it up for this video guys.
Hopefully this has been helpful. I think the regular iPhone line deserves a lot of credit, but when you want to get some of the best stuff available, this thing can’t be beat that about wraps it up for this video guys. Hopefully you enjoyed it if you did be the cool guy girl that gives this video a thumbs up and catch you guys in the next one.
If you want to see more videos like this or whether you should go for the top of the line versus a more budget-friendly option, let me know us a comment down below, but I’ll catch you guys in the next one till then it’s your average consumer peace. Jay you going to the regular line, man, no, you don’t need those cameras, not no all right, Fair .
