The Huawei P40 Pro is a photography POWERHOUSE - Hands on!

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “The Huawei P40 Pro is a photography POWERHOUSE – Hands on!”.
It’S Thursday, the 26th of March and the Huawei p40 series is here. Visionary photography is the tagline this time around and to say that Huawei is leaning into this would be quite an understatement. We’Re treated to three devices this time around the p40, the p40 Pro and the p40 Pro Plus before we go hands-on with the p40 pro. I want to dive straight into the specs, because there is quite a lot that differentiates the three devices. All the phones feature. Kirin 995 G chipsets emui 10.1 software and the brand new 50 megapixel ry wide be ultra vision, cameras. However, there are a few differences that set each device apart from one another, namely the pro and the Pro Plus feature.

A bigger 90 Hertz displays over the smaller 60 Hertz panel in the standard. The same also goes for faster charging, bigger batteries and ip68 ratings in the p40 prime Pro Plus, instead of IP 53 in the regular p40. There are also very different camera systems in each phone from the standard to the pro to the Pro Plus. We’Ve got up to an 80 millimeter 125 millimeter and 240 millimeter telephoto camera respectively, and the Pro Plus gets 12 gigabytes of RAM.

Instead of the 8 gigabytes found in the other two models, while weighs focus for the p40 series, is visionary photography and with the spec sheet. Like this, that’s no surprise. The p40 pro comes with a 50 megapixel main camera, a 40 megapixel ultra wide camera, a 12 megapixel five times optical periscope zoom camera and a timer flood sensor for better depth mapping. The firm is certainly no stranger to breaking the mold and they are going bigger and better this time around. Quite literally, the 50 megapixel ryy be ultra vision, main camera.

That features on all three p40 models. Has the world’s largest smartphone camera sensor, specifically a one over one point: two: eight inch absolute unit for context is Samsung’s one over 1.3 3 inch, which is found in the s20 ultra and opposed one over 1.4 3-inch, which is found in the find x2o and for Good measure: here’s why ways one over one, seven inch outgoing standard, wide-angle camera found in the likes of the mate 30 pro. What does this all mean? Well, in a nutshell, that you’re going to get much better performance from this camera, since the individual photo sites which pick up the light are bigger, allowing for more light information, which is not only going to give you better low-light performance. But it also gives more information into the processing system for stuff, like hdr at portrait, mode and night cycle. The center is still using Huawei’s, ry YB, Bayer filter, which essentially means that the yellow pixels can pick up more light information which enables a better image.

However, it also pixel bins just like last time only this time, instead of going down to 10 megapixel output files from a 40 megapixel main sensor, it’s going from 50 to 12.5, it’s still binning four to one. It’S just a slightly larger output image. The 40 megapixel ultra wide, dubbed the cine camera by Huawei, is very similar to what we saw in the mate 30 Pro, which is to say a very large sensor, that bends down to 10 megapixels with a wide field of view, and it’s all housed in this Elongated stovetop design, that’s an extension of the narrower camera bump that we saw last year around the front in the punch hole. There is a 32 megapixel selfie camera that supports autofocus in both the pro and the Pro Plus, as well as Ultra HD video recording the p40 pro model that I have here supports a much nicer and more premium design than we’ve seen from Huawei phones.

In the past, there are slight curves on all four edges of the screen, making it feel like water on the brink of breaking surface tension. This and the standard versions have glass on the back, whereas the Pro Plus features ceramic are more expensive in a luxurious material and all of them have moved away from a water droplet not to a punch, whole style, selfie camera just for a little bit of added Class in the hand, the phone feels really good if it was really solid, very well made, and it’s definitely very elegant. It’S just a shame about those mismatching corner pieces to the bezel, where the radius of the screen curve doesn’t actually match the radius of the curve. In the chassis, so you kind of get little pointy extra bits and I’ll try and do my best to make this look decent on video. But it’s kind of hard to notice unless you’ve got the thing in your hand, the keen-eyed among you may have noticed that the pro in the Pro Plus bought 90 Hertz displays, which is a first on a flagship level, Huawei phone. This makes the phone feel more up-to-date than previous efforts, although it’s gon na have to be really good to compete with Samsung’s and oppose 120 Hertz screens. There’S also a point to be made about resolution. These things are running white.

Full HD displays, as opposed to white quad, HD displays. That means that, on paper, these phones displays are at a significant disadvantage compared to the other flagships on the market right now. My first impressions are that the screen. Well, it’s vibrant! It’S bright! It’S got good color accuracy and it does seem to have spectacular viewing angles, but will run a full suite of tests and get back to you with the full verdict in the full review coming up later, while Wade’s caring 990 chips. That makes an appearance here in its 5g flavor. This is the same chip that can be found in the mate 30 pro 5 G. This also follows the trend where Huawei tends to put its brand new chipset in the mate series, which is then used in the next year’s P series. So the 990 from the p4 G probe, was first introduced in the mid 30 Pro it’s been shown to be around the snapdragon 855 plus in terms of performance which again puts it at yet another disadvantage compared to the snapdragon 865 equipped, LG v 60.

Think you and Galaxy S 20 series, the p40 Pro and P 40 Pro, Plus both support 40 watt fast charging, but what’s more impressive, is that they also support that speed in Wireless form as well. Yes, these things have 40 watt fast. Wireless charging, which is pretty cool software, is the biggest concern regarding the P 40 series due to the fact that mui 10.1 doesn’t support GMS, meaning that you won’t get the Google Play, Store or any kind of Google services. For that matter, that means you’re going to be relying on the Huawei services, which includes a gallery of course. Now, whilst the company is actively adding apps and games onto app gallery every single day, there are still heaps of key players missing, such as Instagram Twitter, Disney Plus Netflix Amazon, Prime eBay stuff, like that. That really do need to be on here, Spotify and last. Pass of the to die immediately install as soon as I get a phone, and I was not able to install them via app gallery on this. In fact, I was using apk mirror to get some of my applications installed and even then you can’t get every single one installed, such as LastPass, which is a heavily security based application.

You just can’t get it without the Play Store. So the rest of my first thoughts of this thing, one, the fingerprint scanner, which what we claims is 30 % bigger and 30 % faster – is definitely a massive improvement over what we saw with the p30 Pro. This thing just registers my fingerprint way more often and quicker. At the same time, I’m really not sold on the corners of this smartphone.

The curved edge is kind of cool, but the fact that the edges of the screen don’t go to the edges of the device is really putting me off, and it’s something that I just can’t get over. The camera, though, feels very familiar feels just like the p30 Pro, which is to say a very good camera, and the thing about loading the apps onto the smartphone is something that’s going to bug me throughout the entire review process. As I’m recording this video pricing and availability just isn’t available to us right now, so I’ll leave a link in the description to Android thority comm to go to the website to check out the latest information as it gets released with all that said and done thanks For watching this video, please do subscribe to stay tuned and check out the new reviews when they become available for the p40 pro and the p40 Pro Plus, also wash it down.
