So is it back? Well, the latter of the two devices, the desire20 pro is a basic budget phone with a decent on paper, quad, camera and rather middling system on chip, and that only really leaves the other device to be truly impressive. So is the u20 5g a new htc flagship? Well, it’s a bit of a bold move to bring back the. U series i mean the last two devices were flagship phones, so can this new device be enough to succeed the 11 and u12 plus last october htc’s ceo was pretty open talking about the company’s near fatal missteps in the smartphone market, promising the htc would return to The premium space with a device that addresses the criticisms, rumors started, swirling that there was an htc, 5g flagship smartphone on the horizon.
That could prove that htc still had a lot of talent left after google poached, most of it back in 2017.. Instead, we have a basic mid-range phone paired with some questionable hardware choices set to retail at the equivalent of 640 us dollars. The specs designers target price. Don’T suggest the flagship smartphone that the ceo had teased eight months ago. We have an uninspired comeback for an already vulnerable brand aesthetics are going to be subjective naturally, but the u25g is a far cry from the crazy 1m7 and 1m8 ids or even the unique u12 plus the u20 5g is not awe-inspiring sure. It has a yellow ring around the camera and comes in this strange, green color, but that’s about it in fact, to myers. It actually looks quite like the x50 pro 5g from real me. It’S not exactly the same, but you can kind of see the similarities there.
The rear, fingerprint scanner – it’s called capacitive, i’m actually a fan of capacitive scanners over in display ones, but the fact that pretty much every phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner of some kind and this phone doesn’t at the price that it’s set to release at is kind Of confusing and i feel like they should have just gone with the rest of the mainstream. However, we’ve got a punch, hole and some finish bezels, so the design isn’t completely archaic and then there are the specs snapdragon. 765G.
Eight gigabytes of ram 256 gigabytes of storage. 5, 000 milliamp hour battery and a quad rear camera setup, not bad. In fact, that’s a pretty huge battery and some great base ram and storage.
Also for what it’s worth the 765 g is a good chip. We tested it on the site and compared it to last year’s higher end silicone and found that it’s pretty much within throwing distance of that and does share a lot of the features and similarities with the 865, which is the latest and greatest chip of this year. As for the cameras well, it starts off well with a 32 megapixel sensor, but then followed by an eight megapixel ultra wide two megapixel depth sensor and two megapixel macro camera, which really just goes to show that they’re trying to fluff out the spec sheet and not Provide something that’s truly innovative kind of like what they did with the htc one m8, and it’s called depth sensor that we now see on pretty much every smartphone, oh yeah, and they removed the headphone port yeah. The hardware is not looking great. It kind of looks like it would fit in with most mid-range smartphones without any kind of extra appeal or unique features. In fact, the only thing that really does stand out is the fact that it’s made by htc and not by real me or xiaomi or redmi, or anything like that unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll, be aware of htc’s tiny market share compared to samsung Apple xiaomi and huawei, the firm did have some fairly recent high times with the 10 and the u11.
But it’s a far cry from the true heydays. There was a fantastic opportunity to make something great something that would stand out in 2020 and bring htc’s name back into the mainstream and the u20. Well that just isn’t that the u25g should have been a return to the htc flagships. Instead, it’s a display of a tragic lack of ambition.
