Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Samsung Galaxy S10 Redux: The best of both worlds!”.
The recently released samsung galaxy s21 is a solid smartphone. We gave it a positive review and praised it for its great performance, software and value. But what, if you compare it to one of its predecessors, say the galaxy s10. It’S older by two whole years, isn’t exactly stacked on paper and doesn’t have 5g connectivity. So it’s way worse right! Well, it’s not that simple! Today, we’re going to take a look at the galaxy s10 to evaluate its viability in 2021 and to see how much progress samsung has made with its flagship smartphone range since 2019. I want to talk about how this thing compares to the most recent galaxy s, smartphones, because i believe the galaxy s10 to be the best of both worlds, combining many modern day luxuries with previous creature, comforts that we’ve seen being dropped from modern offerings. For example, with the galaxy s10, you get usbc wireless charging, ip68 water and dust resistance, wi-fi six and bluetooth five.
These are all things that you get with the new s21. The s10 still feels like an up-to-date smartphone. Thanks to these features, you still get a punch hole display which keeps the phone feeling relatively new, though it is comparatively large and off to the side, as opposed to the smaller central control that we see on more modern smartphones, the s10 shipped with android 9pi back In the day, but it’s fully upgradable to android 11 based one ui three, you get the same layout, the aesthetic updates and similar features to the newer s21, which has one ui 3.1, based on the same android 11.. This keeps the software experience from feeling completely out of place, as it actually feels relatively close to the new offering and better.
Yet, thanks to samsung’s recent update promises, the galaxy s10 series is likely to get the update to android 12 at some point down the line too. This further extends its viability going forward similar to the brand new smartphone as well. You get a fully featured camera layout. The s10 series was the first generation of the s flagship to get an ultra wide camera and the s10 benefits from a two times, telephoto lens. On top of that, making fray both versatile and high quality camera package that, while not quite top shelf anymore, still delivers respectable photos in different lighting conditions.
I wouldn’t call the setup perfect, there’s. Definitely quite a bit of noise in lower lit shots and less develop. Processing means that colours still come out a bit too saturated compared to real life, but on the whole, it’s perfectly usable and does well to retain dynamic range and detail.
There are a number of marked differences between the s10 and the brand new s21 series. In terms of feature set, however, firstly you’re not getting the most up-to-date components: the s10 is slower than the s21, but isn’t unreasonably slow. It’S still plenty usable, whether you’re gaming or simply scrolling through socials. After all, it does have eight gigabytes of ram and 128 gigs of storage, which is absolutely nothing to scoff at the cameras aren’t as well refined in both resolution or processing. The display is sharper than the s21 at qhd, plus instead of full hd plus, but does come in at half the refresh rate, making it feel noticeably lazier than the super speedy 120 hertz panel in the s21, the s10 3400 milliamp hour battery is pretty small compared To the 4 000 million power unit in the brand new s21, which combined with a less efficient chipset, means that there’s generally worse battery life. Similarly, the 15 watt wide charging is noticeably slower than the s21’s 25 watt charging.
Although saying that at least you do get one in the box, so there’s that there are benefits to the s10 being an older generation device, though you get that classic samsung versatility with a three and a half millimeter headphone port and microsd expansion, features that many still Look for in a smartphone in 2021, you also get a full metal glass build as opposed to the metal and glass stick of the s21, which is essentially samsung’s, branded, polycarbonate or plastic. Back after holding both in the hand. The s10 definitely feels like the more premium device. However, it’s not going to be as durable and is a lot more prone to cracking as opposed to glastic. Samsung has definitely made trade-offs with the s21. It might be two years old, but samsung’s had a good history of making fantastic smartphone panels, and this doesn’t differ from that. The s10 sits in a middle ground between samsung’s old qualities and its new qualities. It has a really flexible feature set of samsung s series devices, but also has a modern design. Modern connectivity options and a modern camera samsung has helped the s10 stay viable in 2021. Thanks to its updates promise – and i think that’s important because it allows those who value those classic features to continue using smartphones like that that are becoming rarer and rarer in 2021, and going forward 300 u.s or 300 pounds in the uk will get you a secondhand Unit which is just under half of the s21’s price tag it makes for a really compelling value for money buy and is something that i’d recommend if you’re looking for all of those classic features in one phone is the s10 perfect? No, but it’s more than usable.
