Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “Did Google fix the Pixel’s fingerprint sensor?”.
Today’S video is brought to you by curiositystream, but more about them. In a bit, Google took a lot of heat for the lag time on their pixel 6 series, in-screen fingerprint sensor, all the while they explained that the pixel’s fingerprint scanner only seemed to be slow because of enhanced security algorithms, but we were curious did they fix it? On the pixel 7, let’s find out now you asked us over and over and over and over again did Google fix the slow fingerprint sensor and we’re going to give you that answer in a little bit so stick around until the end, but first what is slow? We really wanted to dig into the issue a bit more, so we tested out a few different phones within screen fingerprint scanners, to see just how they stack up against the pixel 6, and you know see really what the competition is when we get into judging the Pixel 7.: we started off testing with the handicapped, Samsung S21, which featured a screen protector and, as you can see, the side by side gives the Samsung S21 a clear advantage over the pixel 6. Even with that screen protector on moving on to the Vivo x80 Pro and the story becomes even clearer, wow, that’s an absolutely Snappy scanner and it goes on and on and on and on fingerprint scan easily with the xiaomi 12 Pro extremely fast and reactive, and as You can see from our other examples. It’S the same story. It’S Snappy or reasonably Snappy offset with some cool animations.
So there’s definitely a lot of Truth to the Google pixel 6 being one of the slowest in-screen fingerprint scanners since the invention of molasses. And as you can see, we are a curious bunch at Android authority. And while we strive to give you knowledge on the tech of Tomorrow, there’s other ways that you can get curious today. To did Google fix the failings of the last pixel device with the new pixel 7 and pixel 7 Pro well, we traveled to Brooklyn New York to find out and, as you can see, it’s quick Snappy fast just pick an adjective all right. Well, I think you can judge for yourself from the head-to-head pixel battle here uh, but you can see the exact moment when the finger touches to the moment that the phone unlocks does that look better to you see Scott Brown and I both noticed a massive improvement From the pixel 6, with updated software running Android 13 to the brand new pixel 7 running the most up-to-date software that it has so yes, the pixel 7 has a massive Improvement to the fingerprint sensor, and we will continue to test these devices for all other things.
