Well guys, this is kind of interesting in this article we’re taking a look at the floating LED globe. So I kind of realized that this sounds like something out of a sci-fi horror film, but it does in fact, actually levitate. So the device uses powerful electromagnets, which means, even if you try and interrupt it, by putting your hand in front the globe will continue to levitate. The whole thing is actually a little bit smaller than I was expecting, but nonetheless it’s built and presented rather well and the high-resolution print really does make you appreciate this. So apart from actually providing the feature of a globe, the device doesn’t really have any other use. But it’s seriously seriously cool. This thing makes a great addition to your desk.
If you’ve got a little bit of space that you want to fill and to balance it be a perfect gift for anyone into this kind of thing. The only real problem I had is that sometimes the electromagnet is a little bit too strong. So when you’re trying to get it into the correct position to levitate, it just sticks to the top, but as foes once you’ve got the hang of it. You just sort of hold it roughly in the middle slightly close to the top, and it feels like there’s almost a string attached. It just sits there and it automatically rotates because there’s literally zero friction there to the uninitiated. It looks like there’s some serious wizardry going on.
There are LED lights of various different colors built into the actual stand, so one side of the globe at least is illuminated, and especially at nighttime. This makes it really really quite beautiful. The lights are not especially bright. Those two in a bright environment, you can barely tell they exist, but nonetheless this is really really quite awesome.
And while this is not the most functional piece of tech for $ 35, it’s a novelty and it’s a hell of a lot of fun. You .
