Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “What Mobile Phone Should you buy (2017)?”.
So what type of phone should you get a decision that I’m willing to bet every single one of your face sometime in the last two years, and what, as most guides, are going to tell you exactly which smartphone to buy I’m going to try and push you Into the right category of phone for you, so first of all for people with an unlimited budget or high requirements, the choice is generally pretty obvious flagship smartphones, getting notice of you better each year, they’re differentiated from their mid and low range counterpart through striking design new Features and a lot of other cool different technologies inside of them, and, to be honest with this category, smart phones, whilst there is a lot of differentiation, it’s quite hard to go wrong, no matter which flagship smartphone. You pick, you know, you’re getting a quality piece of kit, which is very powerful. I was also packed with features, however, moving down the budget ladder, things get a little more interesting, mainly because there’s always a compromise and, roughly speaking, if you take out all of these super expensive flagship, smartphones, you’re left with two main options, you can either buy a Scaled-Down phone from an established brand or import a phone from a less known brand and to represent these two categories, I’m going to use the Moto G 5 plus and that you need, plus E and you’ll start to see why. These show the differences between the two categories very well indeed, and Before we jump right into the comparison, there’s a fundamental difference between these two types of phone purpose.
On one hand, we’ve got imported phones for 200 to 250 dollars. You can get yourself just about any smartphone manufactured by these lesser known. Brands runs like new meat, brand lightly, echo and so on and so forth, and these are the best phones that these manufacturers can put out for the price they completely fill out.
The spec sheet and as little margin for the manufacturer, and then we have the Moto G 5 Plus, which was clearly built to be an outstanding value budget phone, but there’s a difference. These manufacturers who are well established also make luxury smartphones and so making the g5. Just as good would mean sabotaging the sales of their more expensive and more profitable units, so, to be honest, peeking this phone up for the first time, you’re almost instantly noticed the ways in which has been crippled on purpose. But does that mean these budget phones from established brands are less good value? Let’S start with hardware, so just about every lesser-known smartphone in this price range you’re going to find comes with a metal unibody.
These are made to be imitating flagships without the flagship price and that doesn’t actually come with too many compromises. Terms of the wave feels moving over to the g5 plus. You can see that whilst it’s not a particularly controversial smartphone, it’s also very uninspired in terms of design. Aside from that camera, it’s just a large bulky, plastic clump and an uninitiated customer holding these two side-by-side would almost definitely say that the human plus E looks like it belongs in a much higher price category, just judging by the way it feels in the hand, then, We’Ve got the screens and the 5.2 inch LCD on the Moto G square plus is pretty respectable, but the 5.5 inch LTPS panel you find on the EMU plus E is actually quite a bit. Better also does have the same amount of pixels, and it’s stretched over a slightly larger area, making it a little bit less sharp, that’s not really noticeable.
What you do notice, however, is that it reproduces colors much more accurately. The g5 plus has quite a noticeable yellow tinge again, in my opinion, made to the smartphone. So in terms of how much processing power these two phones have.
The imported phones almost exclusively rely on mediatek processors, and the purpose of these components is to really fill out. The spec sheet, without really costing too much so going down the mediatek path. You can find yourself with an octa-core smartphone for something like $ 50, but that does not mean it’s as good as an equivalent octa-core phone from an established brand. Just look at the way. These two phones are marketed, the you mean, plus e, like a lot of its imported brothers, tends to be found by savvy consumers who search for them and because of this, these are the kind of people who are generally going to care about what specks a phone. Actually has, as opposed to the end-user experience which, judging by the Moto G 5 plus is marketing, you can tell seems to be the focus here. The g5 plus, generally speaking, is going to be purchased by people who are a little bit less interested in the technology itself and more what it does for them.
I even got a little chart on the side, which kind of summarizes the specifications in terms of what they mean for camera, quality and performance in the end, Moto G’s, wear plus, is going to be judged based on how fast the end experience is, and it’s faster. It’S a good 10 to 15 % higher in terms of benchmarks in the plus E, and the specification sheets is far more balanced. It pairs a snapdragon 625 with 3 gigabytes of RAM, whereas the plus e it has a huge 6 gigabytes of RAM, which is not at all being entirely used.
The g5 plus can open applications about 20 % faster in terms of loading screens. It can finish in half the time and that’s all so more consistently smooth throughout the entire use of the operating system, and this is just clever marketing. Looking on the surface of the to spec sheets, you would instantly think that the plus ear has the advantage in terms of speed. Both of them have an octa-core processor, and this has six gigabytes of RAM, but that just isn’t the case.
On top of that, the plus e also has a few issues with app compatibility due to its lesser-known chipset and if you want a game while, if you do get a bigger, better screen on the plus e in every other area. In terms of the consistency in the smoothness of gameplay, which, if I plus absolutely obliterates the smart phone on top of that with the less established phones, whilst you might get one or two updates here or there, you’ll tend to be stuck on Android, 6.0 or earlier. Whereas with a g5 plus, because these finds are tied to brands, which have a little bit more weight to them, they also have a reputation to up key.
You will, generally speaking, get a more up-to-date version of Android a lot of a few updates to keep you up to date in the future. Unfortunately, a similar story repeats itself when it comes to the camera. On paper on the yumi 8, we’ve got a fantastic specification. 13, megapixels and capable of 4k video, which considering is $ 200 price point, sounds pretty special and it’s not a bad effort. You generally get nice blur free, clear photos, but they lack vibrancy. They lack anything about them. That really makes them stand out, and the 4k video really doesn’t even look like 4k video, the g5 plus, on the other hand, like a lot of established brands, will have a slightly less competitive, looking spec sheet and tablets camera, but the images you produce a lot Exclusively better than the less established brand tend to be the g5 plus an example of a smartphone that absolutely blows it out: the water with more vibrant colors, better low-light capability and a 1080p video that looks better than the other cameras. 4K. So, what’s the conclusion of all this: where is it all headed? Well, these nova round smartphones they’ve been around for six to seven years now, they’ve been slowly but surely gaining in popularity.
However, I think the value proposition that they could offer peaked around a year and a half ago right now the balance seems to be shifting back to established brands, even though they have an incentive crippled around budget phones and they earn a higher margin through them. You still, generally speaking, get a better experience, even though what goes into imported firms may be better. What tends to come out will not be.
Having said that, there are exceptions, sounds like the PPT King seven offered a 2k display and some pretty powerful internals for just $ 119. Another perfect example of where perhaps what you might lose in software support you gain in sheer power and value for money and Kjell me. I mean this is a company who is a perfect example of a manufacturer who has its roots in creating budget smartphones, differentiates it on nothing but their price.
But after a bit, ups are really establishing its brand name, improving its quality. It’S become a huge global corporation, making, incredibly innovative phones, just look at the me mix, and so the conclusion of this really is that, whilst you will have some fantastic phones produced by lesser-known manufacturers, your experience on Android will be bottlenecked by the software on it and It just tends to be the case that this is more consistent, more up-to-date and more pleasant to use for the more established brands, so guys thanks a lot for watching.
