Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “$50 Air Pods Alternatives – Knockies TWS i12”.
What’S up folks how’s it going, this will watch hope you guys are all doing well and what you’re looking at right now are the tws i12s. Now these obviously are exact replicas of the very famous and popular apple airpods. Now, unlike the airpods that cost around 160, these actually go for around the 50 mark, and that could be considerably good value. Considering they pretty much function and look exactly like the apple counterparts, but we’re going to talk about why they are cheaper and some of the advantages and disadvantages that these true wireless earphones present. Now. First, let’s talk about the design and, most importantly, there’s been a lot of companies out there that are trying to label these chinese versions of the airpods as authentic apple products. That’S something very sketchy and highly illegal and there’s been a lot of people scammed out of thinking that they’re buying true air pods when actually they’re, buying copies.
Now, when you buy from tws you’re gon na see that it’s clearly labeled right in front of the packaging. Even though it looks very similar, the box is the same exact dimensions and everything like that and uh. When we take a look at the charging case at the back you’re going to notice that we have the apple authentication text at the back versus, we don’t have that on the tws i12s. And when you take a look at the airpods themselves, you’re going to notice the proximity sensor is also missing from the i12.
So that means it doesn’t have that auto play and pause function. If you do take out the earbuds from your ear and you don’t have the switching from stereo to mono mode, if you only have one of the earphones connected to your ear, so that’s important to note. Additionally, we still have the capacitive touch capabilities on the i12s. Like the airpods, so you can tap one to answer, calls or play and pause whatever audio source. You can triple tap on the left or right ear in order to go to the next or previous song.
If you hold it down for three seconds, you can also call up siri uh, similar uh to the real apple airpods. Now, obviously, we don’t have the w1 a chip like on the airpods just using a generic version of bluetooth 5 with an sbc codec for interfacing, with your ios or android device. The connection issues that i did encounter uh were somewhat frequent, uh, basically a little bit of stuttering here and there and passed about five meters away from the uh transmitting device.
I did encounter more interruptions, which was pretty frustrating, there’s also a fair bit of lag on the audio transmission, which can be additionally annoying when you’re trying to watch youtube. Videos and the audio is not perfectly sync, but that’s a issue that i’ve encountered even higher-end wireless earbuds and that’s more of a issue with smb uh, rather anything else. So that could be more of a codec thing that they could potentially fix in for more updates. But i doubt that the other thing too, in terms of audio quality. It’S obviously not that great. To be honest with you, it’s probably the worst sounding true wireless earbuds that i’ve encountered thus far, but it’s also the cheapest.
So you have to keep that in mind and when we take a look at the base response and mids treble range, it’s definitely not as refined as the true apple earbuds, which don’t actually sound that great to begin with. But this is uh. Definitely subpar.
Uh audio quality compared to those but factor in the price. It is kind of understandable, in my opinion, now. The good thing about these is that the actual microphone and call quality are actually pretty darn, good and reasonable.
The people that i was talking to over the phone heard me very clearly and even in noisy environments or some active noise reduction going on in order to amplify and clarify your voice a little bit further, even in noisy ambient environments. Now. Lastly, uh certainly the best feature about these things is the battery performance and even though they only weigh about three grams compared to the eight grams on the apple air, pods uh, they still deliver around four hours of battery life, according to the manufacturer, but realistically you’re.
Looking about three and a half hours, which is also my experience with the apple air pods, the charging case will get you around four more charges. They claim four to five more charges uh, but in most circumstances, you’re going to get four on average, and that is also very similar to what you’re going to get with the apple airpods. So, in terms of battery performance, it’s the same level of quality as we encounter with the airpods, which is pretty cool to see now.
To sum up everything we’ve talked about, i think the tws i-12 certainly have their place uh in terms of a fifty dollar. True wireless earbuds – that is a definitely a reasonable price. If you take a look at some of the other alternatives out there in the market, you’re going to get a similar, sound performance uh, but usually the battery life, isn’t that good compared to the i12? So that’s definitely a big highlight for me and it’s standout feature as we mentioned, and in terms of replacing uh air pods they’re, definitely a feasible alternative.
Somebody still likes that aesthetic doesn’t want to pay the 200 or 169 whatever they go. For this is definitely an awesome alternative. You don’t have to worry about them if you lose them which i’ve had at the encounter a lot of times where i’m running with these earbuds and lose them or misplace them, uh, somewhere and being out 50, is definitely an easier loss than being out 200 or So dollars so they definitely have their place. I’M satisfied with their overall performance and i would recommend them if you guys are interested in a budget-oriented, true wireless earbud that shares the apple aesthetic.
