So the boat’s refreshing new design is exciting, but what’s even more exciting is the fact that it’s even more affordable this year as more and more car manufacturers storm into the ev space. It’S going to push existing evs like the gold here to innovate and to create an even more compelling product and that’s exactly what chevy did here with a bow. Welcome to my review on so what’s actually pretty cool is the fact that gm was one of the first car manufacturers to produce an ev back in the 90s. It was called the ev1. It was this odd and just really weird looking vehicle, but it was truly ahead of its time because it had features like keyless entry, keyless start and even you can.
You can plug it at home and charge it at your house or in your garage, and it’s literally what electric vehicles are today, so i’m holding gm to those standards today with the boat being that they’ve been in the game for quite a while now so just The other day chevy announced that later this year, their 2023 chevy bolt will be the cheapest ev. You can buy retailing at a price of 26 595 compared to its typical 31 000 retail price range. I had the chance to take the 2022 bolt on a spin for a week, so if you’re thinking about buying a cost-effective ev, let’s see if this is the right one for you. So the exterior design definitely feels like it fits within the 2020 ev’s design.
Playbook. The exterior has this cute and sleek design built with efficiency and aerodynamics in mind. The whole car has a really nice, almost matte finish that comes in blue metallic gray, metallic and for an extra cost you can have a bright blue silver flare or cherry red. I love to see more of this finishes in other cars. The front fascia of the 2022 bolt is by far my favorite angle of this car. It has a light mesh pattern, a blackened out chevy logo and these clean new led headlight setups.
The top headlights are daytime running leds and your headlights are on the bottom. As far as the side profile, you do have 17-inch wheels which fit the vehicle. I like how the black lines go from the headlights to the side mirrors. It gives it a unique look, since this is an ev. There is some more space in the trunk and you can hold down your seats and place chevy’s adjustable floor in the back to give your entire rare to pack things now, even though i like the design, this car does compete with evs that have more of a Traditional sedan design, so the compressed hatchback shape here might not be for everyone, i’m personally not a huge fan of how it looks, especially when i first saw it, but a week later it actually starting to grow on me, and i can say, i’m comfortable sacrificing design For an economical vehicle, because gas prices honestly are not it right now, if you pop up open the hood on the front, you won’t find a front trunk instead, chevy put other powertrain components here, being that this is a front wheel drive. This has a 65 plus kilowatt hour battery that has an epa rated of 259 miles on a full charge.
In my testing i finally get an average of 200 miles after an 80 charge in the summer, and you’ll probably get a little bit less than that during the winter time, charging times will vary depending on the volts of your outlet. If you have a 240 volt charger, you’re estimated to get a full charge in about seven hours, but something that’s cool for road trips – is the new standard dc fast charging on here, depending on the port that you’re using you can get 100 miles of range in Just 30 minutes this is a standard ev, so you’ll have access to over 40 000 public charging stations across the united states. Chevy is also offering to cover installation for level 2 chargers in people’s homes. That’Ll set you up with 11 kilowatts charging rate.
I’D highly recommend that you pick that up, even though you have access to public charging stations, it was hard finding one, especially in my local city, where evs are not that popular. Whenever i was at a station, i was there for at least an hour and i still didn’t get a full charge, which was a little bit aggravating, but that’s part of the sacrifice that comes with owning an eevee in 2022 on the inside of this vehicle itself. One lt models will have cloth seating, while two lt models will have perforated leather seating.
This car has tons of interesting features on the inside. The 10.2 inch display has high resolution and gets plenty bright. I do wish it was a matte finish, since it does get pretty reflective on sunny days now.
This is compatible with a wireless apple, carplay and android. Auto you’ve got buttons to turn on your heated steering wheel and heated seats and a wireless charging pad on the bottom of the front. Console you’ll see a sport mode feature here as well, which makes the driving a little bit more fun next to sport, you’ll find attraction, control and lane assist. The center console is big with plenty of storage and space and a new push button ship for the regenerative. Braking the space inside the car is solid, but nothing crazy. You’Ve got about 40.1 inches of front headroom and 44.2 inches of front leg, room, which is definitely comfortable for a five nine person like myself and should be fine for most people.
The rare does have 35.6 inches of legroom, though so be aware, if you think you have particularly tall people in the back seat a lot as far as my driving experience and performance, you get 200 horsepowers and 255 pound-feet of torque. That leads to a pretty standard. Industry-Leading combo this car definitely has a smooth electric driving feel that i’ve gotten used to this can get you from zero to 60 in around six seconds, which is pretty decent for a car at this price range, probably one of the best parts of driving with a New boat is a one pedal, driving and regenerative braking if you’re in traffic one pedal driving lets you take your foot off the accelerator and automatically brakes. This feature paired with chevy’s new regenerative.
Braking button behind the steering wheel allows you to charge up the battery through those moments in traffic or when you’re driving down a hill, for instance, while regenerative braking and one paddle driving are probably some of my favorite features. You’Ll also find standard automatic, high beams, rare cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and honestly the highest resolution. 360 camera system. I’Ve ever seen on a vehicle at around this price range, so the 2022 model technically starts at a retail of 31 000, and the model that i have here goes for just under 35, 000 with all the taxes and fees but, like i mentioned earlier in this Article a couple of days ago, chevy announced that they’ll be retailing. Their 2023 chevy bolt at just 26 595 dethroning the nissan leaf as the cheapest ev in the u.s pair, that upcoming price tag, with rising gas prices and a lower cost of maintenance.
And this could be very well one or, if not the most cost effective car in the market. With that said, there is a couple of downsides. The first one is the used car market for 2022.
Bold hasn’t caught up with the news msrp on this car. Still, starting at somewhere around 30 thousand dollars, so give it a couple months for the 2023 chevy bolt to come out with that new price tag, and you should see this costing at around twenty thousand dollars for used 2022 bald. Unfortunately, the boat doesn’t qualify for the us’s 7 500 federal tax credit. However, the nissan leaf kia, kona ev and nero ev all qualify for that credit. So if you are in the states be sure to compare prices between other options, if you’re trying to find the best deal on the market, evs have been there clearly for a long time. Chevy or gm had their first one back in the 90s. That was mass-produced and we’re now in 2022 and you’re having more and more car manufacturers who are producing vehicles that are environmental friendly, but at the same time pushing what a car can be. I ain’t gon na lie to you right now, but the electric car world is getting even more exciting. Every car manufacturer is fighting to create the most cost, effective ev that is packed to the brim with features and has a solid performance.
