🔴NEW FIRESTICK UPDATE - AMAZON REMOVING APPS !

Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “🔴NEW FIRESTICK UPDATE – AMAZON REMOVING APPS !”.
So a brand new update being pushed to my third generation Fire TV Cube, they’re, interesting they’re, now using a new screen for the updating. This is the first time I’ve seen this, maybe with all of the issues we’ve had recently with the devices getting into a boot loop, maybe because somebody accidentally unplugged the power cable during the update. Maybe there wasn’t enough power going to your device for the update to happen successfully. All of these things can actually cause a boot loop to happen, but let’s see now in real time on my device, what this new update begins. I do have a suspicion on what I think it’s going to be, and I think it’s going to be two main things. The first one is now the merging of the settings and the profile icon to make space for a new gaming icon, and the second one is updates to how your device will actually automatically uninstall applications to make room if your device is running out of storage. So, let’s see now in real time would be funny if my device has now got the boot loop. But let’s see in real time what this new update has brought to my third generation Fire TV Cube: okay, so we’re past the initial boot. Okay, let’s log in uh, what do we see right on the home page? I can’t see anything different, so nothing new on a UI front on my third generation 5 TV cube with this particular update, but I will show you in just a second what this new update will look like now.

The other thing that was allegedly coming very soon is Amazon will now automatically start uninstalling certain applications from your device to free up space. Now, as you know, we can go over to the settings. Let’S click on that. I can now go over to Applications.

Let’S go to manage, install applications, and here, for example, we can see we can sort the list alphabetically. We can sort the list by app size. So this will now show you the top hitters applications which are the largest here, because, for example, silk browser is nearly 230 Meg, but you can also sort them out by recency.

So how frequently or how recently did you use any of these applications? And we can see on this device, I’m not used this gallery or YouTube, or some of these other ones which are previously installed for testing. Now. What this new feature will do, which was recently reported on FTV news, if I jump over to alaris’s article now, so we can see he’s saying that five TVs May soon uninstall your applications for you to free up that storage space and because this is what it Would look like so similar to what we saw now where it will tell you that you haven’t used an application for a week or a few weeks or or maybe you’ve never used it, and because of that, we can now automatically remove those applications from our device.

Now one problem with this, which actually is addressed in this article, is typically, if you do use an application, you log into it. If it requires a login or maybe you just set your preferences, maybe you create some bookmarks. Maybe you create add some favorites. If it’s a movie or streaming kind of application now, when you uninstall an application and then reinstall it all of your settings, all of your credentials, all of your bookmarks favorites, all of that stuff is typically gone now.

What he says in the article is that when an application or a Fire TV application is offloaded – and this is the term that they’re calling – so it’s not really uninstalling – it’s offloading – the app itself will be removed, but the user data of the app will remain on The device, so that means all of your preferences, all of your settings, your logins, your credentials, all of that stuff will be saved, but the actual meet or the heart of the application. The date of the application will be uninstalled, and typically, this is what’s the largest Insight in an application. You have the user data, which is typically very small, and we also have the app cache, which is also typically small, and that can be cleared out. If you want to free up some space or your application is running a bit slow, you want to give it a fresh start. You can always clear out that cache and then you have the app data, which is the largest portion of the application.

So this new feature, which should be coming soon on all of our devices, many Fire TV apps, especially streaming services, have very little user data but on the other hand, for example, games because they normally download the game data afterwards and wolf that gets stored inside the User data that size can actually be very, very large now you’re saying the great thing is we’d have to do this analysis ourselves, as you can see in the screenshot at the top it’ll, basically tell you exactly how much space you’ll recover by offloading this application. So, for example, with Crazy Taxi you’d get 199 Meg for Tablet. Tv you’d get two to five Meg, so this will be basically presented to you, so you can just see which applications are worth offloading and that way you can also reclaim that space.

Now. The other thing which was reported, I think, CW Tech – did a video on this recently. Is this new Fire TV layout? That’S going to be coming to our devices very very soon, and I actually thought the update I just received would give me this new layout, but it looks like it hasn’t come through to the UK. Just yet, in fact, do leave me a comment below if you receive this update, and you can now see this new game Icon, where you’d normally see your profile icon and we can see the profile icon has now been moved over to the riot. This is now going to be a bit more game. Centric on the home screen rain said that gamehub primarily promotes the Amazon lunar gaming service, but also local Fire TV games will also be accessed through this new icon interesting at the bottom. He does say that this change to the Fire TV home screen may not be permanent and may not even make it to all users, because Amazon periodically tests the water tester changes like this, on a small subset of users and depending on the feedback, then it decides Whether it’s going to push this out to The Wider Community, but we’ve seen in the past, ultimately it’s always up to Amazon. We saw some of the the recent changes. If I just jump back to my Fire TV Cube, we can see here this last change where, when you now go to settings you have this bright blue profiles.

Icon I mean we can see with terms of Aesthetics. We’Ve got a very simple, looking icons here. You know gray background with a white logo and white tags, and we’ve got this now blue logo, so consistency standards.

It just seems ridiculous that they included this, but, as we know, those guys make the decisions. Maybe somebody in marketing or r d thought this was a great move and they decided to add in this big blue profiles icon, where all these other icons look completely different. Now, if you do want to ensure that you are in the latest version, you can always go over to the settings. Let’S click on that go down into MiFi TV, let’s click there click on about and you can check for updates and we can see on my device as of Thursday.

The 7th of September I’m running 7.6. 5.2. Do leave me a comment below if your device has a newer version and if you can also see the new features mentioned in this article, the other thing just to quickly mention is right.
