If I press right on my remote and we are instantly transported from Hollywood, all the way to China again, fantastic background super smooth. Let’S do that one more time and we are now hopping from China all the way to France. This brand new collection of screen savers really looks phenomenal on any fire. Stick TV Fire TV Cube and it’s also supported on Android TV devices and we’re now chilling in Hawaii, so in this article today, let me show you how you can apply this custom screen saver to all of your Amazon devices. You can change the settings. You can tweak the background. You can change the timeout. All of that can be done just by following the process in this article. All you need to do is just hit that, like button make sure you hit that subscribe button. Savers that I’ve not seen before on any other platform, so you can install this directly onto your Amazon device. The only key thing is, you have to use a process to change your defa screen saver and to do that either you can type in an ADB command or you can use the tduk screen saver manager, which was created. I think more than two years ago now and using that you can change the default screen saver on your Amazon device to any other screen saver that you like, so so to get that screen saver manager, let’s now open up downloader. Let’S now make a quick connection to my website, which is just tech.com or you can type in the short code, 534 2, and this will take you directly to my website and, let’s click on go now when you get to my site, if you head over to The hamburger menu, which is the one with the three lines: let’s click on that click on tutorials and near the top you’ll see the latest tutorial – will be how you can get this tduk screen server manager on all of your Amazon devices. I mean on Android TV generally, it’s very easy. You just install your custom screen saver and you can then change that default screen saver. Just by going through the settings, it’s only on the Amazon devices where that option is more or less locked out, so you have to use an alternative method. Let’S scroll down here, we have the step-by-step instructions underneath all of that we’ll have the link to the screen.
Server manager, which is the first one here now, this one, is actually the older version of the software. So I will update this by the time the video goes out, but as you’ve seen, the application are. Views is now directly available on the Amazon app store. So you don’t need to necessarily get that from our website, so in this article I’m going to get the first one, which is the screen server manager. Let’S click on that, let’s scroll down and let’s click on the green download button.
Now I mentioned at the start that this is really for fire OS, 6 and 7even devices. There is a way that you can do this on fire OS 5 devices by typing in ADB command. The ADB command is also listed on that same page, but for now want to click on install give that a second.
I can now click on open, and this is the screen saver manager, so we can see right now is actually disabled, so I’ve disabled. The screen saver, I think I was testing something for another video, so for us to. Firstly, click on that the screen server is now enabled and on the right here we can see which screen server.
Do you want to use? So this is the default one. Then you have colors and then you have aerial views. So in my demonstration I’m going to go for aerial views, that’s done and I will go through the configuration of aerial views in just a second.
So we have the timeout. So the Sleep timeout is basically when your screen goes blank, so I’ll leave mine as maybe 20 minutes, which may actually be the default and the actual Daydream timeout is when will your screen saver actually start so for a quick test? Let’S just set that to one click on next, so I set to one and I’m now going to click on Save values. That’S now being saved so hopefully now in 1, minute time that screen saver should automatically start. So I’m going to use the magic of video editing, so hopefully you guys don’t have to wait around.

We can see our screen sa automatically start, so that was just to prove that the screen saver manager is working properly and, whichever time that you define it will actually properly start the screen saver. Let’S click on that now, Okay, so we’ve got a couple of options here: let’s go for video sources, so here we have the default and in the previous version of this application only had sources from Apple. But here we can see now we have options from Jetson creative as well as this Robin uh 4K one as well. So if I click on videos by Apple, you can say if you want to use them or not, which is enabled by default. Here you can set the quality now very interestingly, depending on your TV.
If you have a 4K TV or a 1080p TV, then make sure these are set accordingly and I’m doing mine through a capture device. So I’m capped at 1080p. But, for example, if I change this to 4K using Delby Vision, you can see now the data usage is 90 gigs per hour, so make sure you don’t have any bandwidth or bandwidth caps uh before setting a an option like this, but in my demonstration let’s just Go with 1080p Doby Vision: let’s go back, then we have these other two repositories, I’ll leave them as defaults at 1080p.
Although again I believe they do support 4K, that’s also enabled so we have three repositories there. You can also play media from a USB drive. So if you do have a a compatible Drive plugged in, you can have your offline videos and you can use this application to play those.
But but my example: I don’t have anything plugged in let’s go back and you can also Mount sambar or SMB shares. So again, if you have network attached storage, if you have media files on another device in your house in your network, you can enable this option here. But let’s go back. Okay, let’s go to the settings here, for example, you can adjust the appearance. So if I go to the overlays, let’s go to the top row and we can see, for example, I’ve changed mine, so the lowest slot on the top left has the date. Let’S turn that off, so let’s go to empty. So on the top right. You have. The location and on the top right you’ll also have the clock: let’s go back, then you’ve got the bottom row.
So on the bottom, let’s say the bottom left, I’m going to show uh, let’s go for the date on the bottom left. Let’S leave the rest. Let’S go back, you can enable the points of interest which I have turned on and here you can also add in a custom message. So you do want to show a certain message. Maybe if you’re using this feature on a display TV, maybe in a shop or somewhere else, you can um add a custom message now.
I do recommend turning on this option, which is to alternate the text position because on oler TVs to minimize burning, you want to ensure that the text is not constantly displayed at the same uh spot so clicking. This will move that text around here. You can test the or change the font, so let’s leave that now playlist. This is basically going to get all of those repositories and just create a playlist of the videos.
So I enable mine with Shuffle I do remove duplicates if there is any and, for example, you canjust the playback speed I’ll leave mine as the default, which is one times, and I have no limit for the video length. Let’S get back um d-pad remote, so here for example, I do enable that you can skip the video by pressing the right on the remote, so this will automatically go to the next article If you press the right on the d-pad so I’ll leave that ticked. Let’S get back now the Advan option here I do enable this option, which is it will give you some Hardware performance, uh gains for high quality video, so you can take that the others I’ve just left as off.
Let’S go back now here, for example, you can confirm that does my TV even support Dolby Vision or 4K and for example, we can see that my TV doesn’t because I’m pumping this through a capture card but, for example, codec wise. We can see that my device, the FTB Cube, does support AVC, HC and also there’ll be Vision. Let’S go back, I think that’s pretty much it.
Let’S go back again after making all those changes, you can click on test screen saver settings and this will automatically start the screen saver, and we can now see we have the location on the top right. We have the time on the top right on the bottom. Left we have the date, so those are the options I set. I can now press the right on the remote to navigate on to the next one. Here we are near West Texas.
