Hi, this is Wayne again with a topic “🔴 Firestick Crisis: Amazon’s Shocking Move!”.
Lots of you have been messaging me about this new change. Unfortunate change. That’S happened to the five sticks: F TVs, whereby, if you restart your device or if your device goes to sleep, then without you actually pressing anything or without actually changing anything, your device will now show you. A full screen advert so very unfortunate that Amazon are now doing this, even with all of the changes that they’ve done before they really are just forcing more and more ads down our throat. Now we can see on my device.
My hands are up here, I’m not touching anything. My device is just complet to restart and I would say in less than 5 Seconds without me, pressing anything or touching anything on the remote control. My device is now showing me this full screen advert for Alex ryer or Fallout, so it doesn’t really matter what it is. The point being is that, without my control, Amazon are really pushing these adverts directly onto my device. I mean to get away from it. I can just obviously move down on the remote or I can press home again, but we can see that change was definitely not there before, and I just teams like Amazon are insisting that they need to make these adverts. I mean the adverts are big enough as it is. I would say there are, like you know, almost a half of the screen already, but the fact that that’s not sufficient for Amazon they have to make them full screen.
You can see why it’s very frustrating and people are always looking for ways on how they can customize their home screen and maybe use a custom launcher. So that’s one demonstration whereby, when you restart your device, if I now put my device to sleep, let’s do that. Let’S give that a second and let’s see now, when I wake up my device from sleep, does it also exhibit the the same behavior? Now, I’m not sure exactly which update this change came about. I only noticed on one of my other devices that as soon as I pressed home, when I turned away for a second when I turned bag, there was a full screen advert on my device. So let’s try working out my device. If I just press down on the remote that should work on my device, let’s see what the behavior is once my device.
No again, we can see from sleeve it will actually show you another full screen advert so very, very frustrating, and you can see why exactly lots of people have now jump Shi and moved over to the Android TV platform. Lots of you went for the on 4K streaming box. I know some of you spent some money and bought the Nvidia Shield Pro basically just fed up with all of these changes from Amazon now my device. We can see that when I showed the full screen advert, at least it wasn’t a video and the reason for that is. I’Ve actually changed an option which, by default, is set to on, but on your device. If you go to preferences, if you go to featured content, let’s click on that by default.
These two are set to on and if that’s the case, when you now press the home button and if you now leave your device and wait for that, full screen advert to load. Not only is it full screen, it’s actually a full screen. Video advert with audio. So can be very frustrating very annoying.
Some of the volume of these adverts are very loud and really is just very, very frustrating, so definitely recommend if you haven’t done so already go into your settings. Go into your preferences go into your featured content and make sure both these are set to off. So, even if you do see that full screen advert at least it won’t be a video advert, and at least it won’t have any audio in the advert now. One thing that you can do to avoid seeing those home screen adverts if you don’t want to go through the custom launcher process is, if you long press the home button you can see. If you go over to apps, you basically completely pass the home screen. None of those large adverts and I can now quickly launch any application that I want.
So that’s one way to do it. The other way is obviously you can use your voice and just say open Netflix. So again, I’m not going to see the home screen. I’M not going to see the adverts. I can go straight into my application, but of course this only works for official applications and not your third party applications. So that’s pretty much for this video guys.
